The Summer Transfer Window (Press Submit)

Things are moving! Fadz and Batth close to signing. A mix of experienced championship pros and some gambles from abroad in so far. I like it. Weimann will probably get a deal too to add some championship experience up top. I'd imagine so anyway. Last summer we made the huge mistake of all our signings being gambles and it failed miserably. This feels like a more sensible approach. Still need a GK, cover RB, CM, and pacy winger or 2. -

Me neither! Playing well and conceding 3 every week under JDT was dull anyway. -

Welcome Big Mak! Think this says a lot about what style of football we'll play next season - lots of balls into the box for the big man to attack. I don't think it will be pretty but hopefully it'll be effective. It will be a world away from the football we saw under JDT, that's for sure. -

This has turned around quite nicely. Suddenly quite like the look of what we're trying to do. Sammie was always going to go so I'm not too gutted about that. In fact, I'm pleased he's got his chance at the prem after the miracles he performed for us last season. Weimann on a free would be a smart signing. Still plenty to offer. Gally sold for £1.5m would be a stroke of genius. Dreadful player. We definitely need to sign some tricky wingers. Dembele would certainly fit the bill on that one. I rate him very highly. -

We've been used to Gally and Semir, and face the prospect of Vale up top next seaspn. I will hazard a strong guess he'll be better than all 3 of those. -

This is more like it! Some signings (nearly) in at last! -

Really like the look of the Japanese guy. We need a bit of energy in the team and he looks to have a lot of that. I feel it's a really untapped market, so he could turn out to be a useful signing. And he's costing a fee! Described as his current clubs "most electric player". We need some of that, we're so one paced at the moment. -

No surprise Sammie is on his way out. He would be mad to want to stay here and a prem club would always likely come in for him. Another nail in our coffin for next season. Genuinely concerned it could be one of the worst in our history. We have to remember our manager did not win a single home game last season - and that was with Sammie in the team. -

As it stands, we are nailed on for relegation next season with a very low points total. Disgusting what the owners have done to this club. -

Technically he is right. Venky's do have the money to fund us but they now have to pay a % to the Indian government on top of whatever money they send to the club. They don't want to do that so we are now self-funding. There is literally no point in having them as owners now. The only thing they did do was cover our losses each year, they won't even do that now. -

We're not selling for £6m, not a chance. We needed to sell Wharton to see us through the season and beyond now that the taps have been turned off. That and the Raya money means we don't need to sell Sammie quite so desperately. We will sell him this summer though, probably for around £8m plus add ons. A deal totalling around £10m will probably be accepted. -

Liam Cooper would be a good first signing tbf. He's a good defender and has the leadership qualities we are lacking. Sounds like he wants to come so I think it will happen. Sammie will leave this summer - but not for £6m. Not even we would sell him for that price. -

We can't even afford to offer deals to Fleck and Kyle as it stands. Desperate times! -

The taps were turned off a year ago and I don't see them coming back on. We're essentially now a self-funding club, that has become very clear. Why do these fools continue to own the club? It's beyond belief. -

Leo gone and Semir to follow soon. They have to be two of the worst players to ever wear the famous shirt. Truly woeful. Indicative of one of the worst summer windows we've had last summer. This summer, the Palace guy linked again. He's not coming here so I'm not sure why that story is being peddled every week. -

We didn't have the Wharton or Raya funds last summer and we were told that there are "no longer any issues" with the owners sending over money. On the plus side, I do for the first time have some hope that venkys may sell the club. I only ever thought they would for political or economic reasons and when they are essentially forced to. The Indian government are making it very hard for them which may force their hand eventually. -

After the disastrous summer last year I was hoping for a better one this time around. Yet it seems to be more of the same chaos behind the scenes. It's never good when there's an exodus of people leaving of their own accord, that is very telling. We have Waggot, Park, Owen, Gestede, Sulhal et al at the top yet none of them have any real power and I suspect it will be a case of too many cooks and no decisions are ever made or agreed upon. It doesn't matter anyway when you have the incompetence of Venkys running the show. It also looks and feels like we are really short on cash again this summer despite bringing in a huge amount of revenue with the Wharton and Raya deals. Clearly there are huge issues remaining with the owners sending money over despite the official soundbites to the contrary. Obviously there's still time to prove otherwise but we're shopping in the bargain basement again I strongly suspect. Probably hoping to pick up some good loan deals and bring through some academy players, and a couple of Tim Krul-esque signings. -

I'm not sure about that. He'd surely rather try and build his career in England than go back to Scandinavia. He's just not good enough. Simple as that. -

If we are getting 850k for Leo then I like this new recruitment team already! He seems like a nice guy but he's nowhere near the level required. Seems a strange rumour to make up so I suspect it is true. -

Ayari coming back would be a big no from me. He's a neat and tidy player but we need better quality than him if we're to avoid another struggle next season. I don't think we will want him back. -

First player to score 30+ goals in a season since Shearer and he singlehandedly saved us from playing in Lge 1 next season and the implications that comes with. I agree he's not in the same category as Shearer, Tugay, Hendry etc but he's a legend in my eyes for what he achieved last season. I don't think anyone is paying over £10m for Sammie so do you then refuse to sell him and stop his only chance of ever playing in the prem? Plus we'll never see anywhere near £8m for him again as he's had a bit of a fluke season if you look back on the rest of his career so far. -

The RoversInsider twitter account, which looks legit, is suggesting that Sammie is available for a knockdown price - some have suggested £8m. Normally I'd say that's really poor from the club as he's worth a lot more but I actually feel like that's a really fair price. After what he did for us last season, we should not be pricing him out of a move to the Premier League and lifechanging money. This is his only chance of realising that dream. He's a Rovers legend and deserves a shot at the big time at his age. I will wish him luck when he does go. -

It is wrong and the system is broken but we have done the same to clubs lower down the football pyramid so we have no cause for complaint. Igor Tyjon being the most recent example. -
No doubt a much weaker championship next season than it was last season. In fact, I'd say it could be one of the weakest we've seen for some time with many clubs struggling financially. From the teams coming down; Sheff Utd are in dire straits, Luton will be decent but don't have any real stars, and Burnley will be losing their manager very shortly. The ones going up are far stronger than the ones coming down. Leeds will have to sell off all their best players and may even get a points deduction, so they'll be average next season. Norwich and West Brom must be coming to the end of any kind of parachute payments, so large wage bills and no parachute payments is not a good scenario. Derby and Portsmouth will be OK but nothing special. Oxford wiill play nice football but struggle. Birmingham and Huddersfield are big clubs that have gone down. If we can get the recruitment right, we have a big chance of operating at the right end of the table again next season. Huge IF though.

Are Chelsea trying to give Venkys a run for their money as worst owners or something? They've saddled the club with a load of debt, appointed Maresca as manager which is laughable, and face a very bleak long term future. They're destroying that club very quickly.
