Silvester sacked Baker appointed
rovers11 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Club Secretary so a pretty senior role. He lists "player registrations" as being under his remit at Brighton. He was there 3-4 years. Feels like the best appointment the club have made for quite some time but not sure if anyone can thrive under these owners. -

Strange move for him to leave Brighton to join us. It must be a good pay rise for him. Brighton are the best run club in the country so it looks like a very good appointment. But there's only so much you can do when Venky's are your employer. -

I think the player would still come here, but I don't think we'll go back in for him. There are far better options out there for us once the summer window opens imo. -

Cannon won't happen. Liam Delap or Stansfield more realistic. -

Stansfield would be a good signing for us and one I can see us going after. Has a good work ethic, a good age, and probably not huge wages. Think he'd do well here. -
John Eustace - our head coach
rovers11 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He achieved the one and only remit he had when given the job in Feb - keep up in the league. I feel like the job he's done has been poor though. Not a single home win and a very poor style of play. I'd personally get rid but he probably does deserve a summer to see what he can do. Having a woeful GK, Gally up front, selling your best midfielder and no replacing him, and letting your captain to out on loan are all ingredients for relegation so he came in at a tough time. Birmingham would not have gone down if they had kept him. -
Come on Norwich, Hull, and Sunderland. Sunderland are useless so I don't expect any favours from them but Norwich have gone full strength and obviously Hull have too. I think Birmingham go down but we'll see. Going to be a very nervy 2 hours, especially if we concede early on and either Plymouth or Brum take the lead.
-
Oh I think we'll stay up as I think Plymouth will lose. I just don't think we'll get anything against Leicester, even though they've battered Preston and now won the league, so we're relying on other results to keep us up on the final day which is not a nice position to be in. Let's hope Leicester have a few late nights this week!
-
I think Preston will get at least a point tonight meaning Leicester will need something on the final day to win the title. Even if they don't, we're not getting anything there so I don't think it matters. We're totally reliant on one of the teams below us not winning. It's therefore not in our hands on the final day in reality. I'll personally be keeping a very close eye on the Plymouth game as I think that's the key one.

Norwich won't put the reserves out against Birmingham next week now after the Hull result tonight. They are still not guaranteed a play off spot, an 8 goal swing in Hull's favour and they would miss out. Yes, very improbable but you do not take any risk putting out the reserves and getting smashed by Birmingham, who did beat Cov 3-0 recently, knowing that Hull score a hatful of goals and are up against a poor team in Plymouth. I think the result tonight probably sends Birmingham down. -
Same here. Hull score bagful of goals and are good away. The incentive of getting a top 6 spot as well means this will be an incredibly tough game for Plymouth. Exactly what we wanted. Also means Leicester can win the title before we play them which significantly boosts our chances of getting something against them.
-
Brilliant result. That equalier could be the difference between us staying up and going down imo. Hull will be desperate to beat Plymouth now and Norwich are not mathematically there so probably will go full strength against Birmingham.
-
Come on Hull. We need them to get at least a point tonight. That will make it very tough for Plymouth to beat them next week.

Whatever happens next Saturday, Eustace simply has to go. Not a single home win since he took charge, and we've never really looked like getting one either. We are set up to try and get a 0-0 every game and never look like scoring. It's appalling. Yes, we have very poor players but so do QPR and Sheff W, but their managers have transformed them. -

When we only took 2 points from the games against Swansea (A), Millwall and Plymouth (both H), I would have snapped your hand off to be in our position going into the final day. Odds very much in our favour. It would be a huge shock if we went down from this position. -

I fear for Plymouth after those results today. Hull will still mathematically have a chance of getting top 6 next week even if they lose today, although realistically they'll be out of it with GD. I think they'll throw everything at it and go for goals. That spells big trouble for Plymouth as Hull are very good going forward and good away from home. -

Although it's very disappointing we didn't win that one, I actually feel more confident of staying up now that I did before the game. We have to lose, Sheff W draw or win, Birmingham win, and Plymouth win for us to down. That feels an unlikely scenario but I'm furious that we haven't finished the job today.
