  1. We can't even afford to offer deals to Fleck and Kyle as it stands. Desperate times!
  2. The taps were turned off a year ago and I don't see them coming back on. We're essentially now a self-funding club, that has become very clear. Why do these fools continue to own the club? It's beyond belief.
  3. Leo gone and Semir to follow soon. They have to be two of the worst players to ever wear the famous shirt. Truly woeful. Indicative of one of the worst summer windows we've had last summer. This summer, the Palace guy linked again. He's not coming here so I'm not sure why that story is being peddled every week.
  4. We didn't have the Wharton or Raya funds last summer and we were told that there are "no longer any issues" with the owners sending over money. On the plus side, I do for the first time have some hope that venkys may sell the club. I only ever thought they would for political or economic reasons and when they are essentially forced to. The Indian government are making it very hard for them which may force their hand eventually.
  5. After the disastrous summer last year I was hoping for a better one this time around. Yet it seems to be more of the same chaos behind the scenes. It's never good when there's an exodus of people leaving of their own accord, that is very telling. We have Waggot, Park, Owen, Gestede, Sulhal et al at the top yet none of them have any real power and I suspect it will be a case of too many cooks and no decisions are ever made or agreed upon. It doesn't matter anyway when you have the incompetence of Venkys running the show. It also looks and feels like we are really short on cash again this summer despite bringing in a huge amount of revenue with the Wharton and Raya deals. Clearly there are huge issues remaining with the owners sending money over despite the official soundbites to the contrary. Obviously there's still time to prove otherwise but we're shopping in the bargain basement again I strongly suspect. Probably hoping to pick up some good loan deals and bring through some academy players, and a couple of Tim Krul-esque signings.
  6. I'm not sure about that. He'd surely rather try and build his career in England than go back to Scandinavia. He's just not good enough. Simple as that.
  7. If we are getting 850k for Leo then I like this new recruitment team already! He seems like a nice guy but he's nowhere near the level required. Seems a strange rumour to make up so I suspect it is true.
  8. Ayari coming back would be a big no from me. He's a neat and tidy player but we need better quality than him if we're to avoid another struggle next season. I don't think we will want him back.
  9. First player to score 30+ goals in a season since Shearer and he singlehandedly saved us from playing in Lge 1 next season and the implications that comes with. I agree he's not in the same category as Shearer, Tugay, Hendry etc but he's a legend in my eyes for what he achieved last season. I don't think anyone is paying over £10m for Sammie so do you then refuse to sell him and stop his only chance of ever playing in the prem? Plus we'll never see anywhere near £8m for him again as he's had a bit of a fluke season if you look back on the rest of his career so far.
  10. The RoversInsider twitter account, which looks legit, is suggesting that Sammie is available for a knockdown price - some have suggested £8m. Normally I'd say that's really poor from the club as he's worth a lot more but I actually feel like that's a really fair price. After what he did for us last season, we should not be pricing him out of a move to the Premier League and lifechanging money. This is his only chance of realising that dream. He's a Rovers legend and deserves a shot at the big time at his age. I will wish him luck when he does go.
  11. It is wrong and the system is broken but we have done the same to clubs lower down the football pyramid so we have no cause for complaint. Igor Tyjon being the most recent example.
  12. No doubt a much weaker championship next season than it was last season. In fact, I'd say it could be one of the weakest we've seen for some time with many clubs struggling financially. From the teams coming down; Sheff Utd are in dire straits, Luton will be decent but don't have any real stars, and Burnley will be losing their manager very shortly. The ones going up are far stronger than the ones coming down. Leeds will have to sell off all their best players and may even get a points deduction, so they'll be average next season. Norwich and West Brom must be coming to the end of any kind of parachute payments, so large wage bills and no parachute payments is not a good scenario. Derby and Portsmouth will be OK but nothing special. Oxford wiill play nice football but struggle. Birmingham and Huddersfield are big clubs that have gone down. If we can get the recruitment right, we have a big chance of operating at the right end of the table again next season. Huge IF though.
  13. Are Chelsea trying to give Venkys a run for their money as worst owners or something? They've saddled the club with a load of debt, appointed Maresca as manager which is laughable, and face a very bleak long term future. They're destroying that club very quickly.
  14. I think this is a legit account and I'm usually very sceptical and dismissive of ITK accounts. Will be interesting to see who is appointed. Edit: Others saying it could be John Park, which sounds very plausible.
  15. I think it's this too. Why would any young player want to leave Rovers? You will get a chance in the first team and you will be sold as soon as a prem team comes in. You can quickly go onto big things from here if you're good enough, just like Adam Wharton (although I do appreciate he is a once in a generation talent).
  16. Bair, Docherty, Murphy all linked in recent days. I know they are just rumours but I hope we are after much better calibre players than that. None are good enough if we want to have a better season than the last one.
  17. I'm not so sure. If you read through their recent tweets, they have got it right about season ticket prices days before it was officially announced, they said 5 days again that we will replace GB with a Head of Technical which is now being reported elsewhere, and probably has it right about the kits as others have heard the same. Here's hoping they are right about Venkys willing to sell too. An account I will be following and interesting I notice Unleaded follows them too so that's good enough for me as he's probably the best ITK we have on here.
  18. That interview confirms McGuire won't be coming here. Not fussed at all. Now that we're in the summer window, there are much better options out there.
  19. I don't believe a word of the "we don't need majory surgery" line from Eustace. We often hear that from managers and then they go and sign 50 new players! No manager is gonna upset the squad by saying he wants big changes in personnel. I personally think there will be a lot of comings and goings. Really like the look of the next batch of academy kids coming through too. Think we have some very good players on the verge of the first team.
  20. Absolutely, will back him if he signs. He can't be any worse than Gally or Semir. Just a bit concerned he's 23 and only ever played in the US which is essentially a retirement league.
  21. I may be in the minority but I'm not fussed if we sign McGuire or not. I think there are better options out there than someone who has played in the MLS. I will caveat that with I've never seen him play so what do I know!
  22. There's no doubt he was sacked. He'll try and spin it to his media friends that he wanted out anyway but I don't believe a word of that. He was very poor at his job and deservedly got sacked. There's no way I would have let him loose on another transfer window either. Cheston and Silvester are both also very poor at their jobs too and both have gone within a week of the season ending. I'd have been a lot more disappointed if members of the board were kept in place despite a shambles of a season. Waggot is the last remaining one whose time is probably running out too. The main culprits are in India but they're not budging. I don't believe this means that there's no transfer budget this summer. That would suggest that Venkys have actually done some planning. Those at the club prob won't know the summer budget for about 2 months yet!
  23. Good decision to get rid of GB imo. We've had 3 of the worst transfer windows I can remember during his tenure and I wouldn't trust him to spend any kind of transfer kitty. Yes, he's not had a lot to work with but the players he has signed for money have been awful. Leo for a million has to be one of the worst pieces of transfer business we've done. Talked a good game but he never convinced me. Good to see changes are being made at the top after a dreadful season. Waggot next please. Not holding my breath that his replacement will be any better though!
  24. I am a southerner 😄 Not too far from the club he's joined us from. I give it a year until he quits.
  25. Club Secretary so a pretty senior role. He lists "player registrations" as being under his remit at Brighton. He was there 3-4 years. Feels like the best appointment the club have made for quite some time but not sure if anyone can thrive under these owners.
