  1. I did post yesterday that we shouldn't be splashing the Wharton cash in Jan. Its a terrible window and awful value. Our season is pretty much over. We need to plug a few gaps to ensure we don't get relegated (hence the 37 year old defender) and then rebuild in the summer. That is the sensible approach. We only have one shot at getting it right. We cannot waste this money.
  2. Decent signing. We are crying out for a leader back there and someone who can do the basics well. He is perfect for that role.
  3. Nat Phillips chooses Cardiff and Sheff W have gazumped our bid for the US guy. The clock is ticking and it feels like a familiar script to previous Jan windows.
  4. 100% agree. If we get it right with how we invest the money then we could be looking back at today as a very pivotal today. Whether I have faith in us spending the money well is a completely different matter. What I do know is that we are currently on an 18 month trajectory towards league one unless we change course and invest some money in the transfer market next summer.

  6. Adam is leaving to join a premier league club, probably tripling his wages overnight, and we've made 20m+. I don't see that as being forced out at all. Has Adam kicked up a fuss and asked to leave? No, of course not. But that doesn't mean he's been forced out by any means.
  7. True, but this means we have the money in the bank and can hit the ground running in the transfer market in the summer. It gives us some certainly of what our summer budget may be. We, of course, won't invest all of that but I know it means we will be doing better than the likes of Telalovic in the next window.
  8. Nonsense. There's a lot wrong with the club but this has to be seen as a huge success for the club. We've always sold our beat players and most clubs do. What is important now is that we spend it wisely. We finally no longer have to shop in the market of the likes of Ennis or Telalovic. This is a big day for the club.
  9. I hope that we don't invest too much money in this window from the Wharton sale. Its a terrible window to do business in. This is the biggest chance we've had to properly to get some quality in so rushing that process with 2 days to go would be unwise. Realistically, this season has gone for us. We just need to make sure we stay up, which we will. We then need to have a proper go at in the summer window. I'd focus on loan deals to plug the gaps for now and then re-set in the summer. The US guy would be the exception as I think he's been on our radar for a while, so he's not a panic signing.
  10. I would imagine it's 18m + 4m guaranteed add ons + sell on fee. If so, that's too good to turn down for someone I see as a luxury player at this level. Losing someone like Sammie will be a far bigger blow when he goes to the prem in the summer. It's obviously much harder to replace 20+ goals than a silky midfielder. Excited but also terrified to see how we spend the money. I am getting O'Brien flashbacks... This is the model though that will give us a fighting chance of getting back to the prem. One of our own going to the prem for £20m+ should be celebrated all round.
  11. Good luck to Adam. He's a top player and you can't turn down the prem. We need the money desperately to freshen up the squad.
  12. Very happy with the McGuire signing. Young, good potential, and a US international. Have a feeling he'll do well here. Blow that Nat Phillips has chosen Cardiff though. He would have been good here.
  13. Dolan has been good. Siggy has been rubbish as usual. Not a fan of him.
  14. Gally with a goal and assist. He's not very good but he's certainly the best striker we have right now.
  15. I'm not sure you can blame the attendances on Waggot. The product on the pitch has not been good enough for a long time for many people to spend their hard earned money on. I firmly blame the owners on that front. I actually don't even think if the tickets were free that we'd even sell out at the moment. It's also a small town with many clubs in the surrounding areas, including a few of the big hitters in world football. Clubs like Ipswich have a big catchment area and little competition.
  16. £2m for Gally then we must take it. Gally out and Phillips and Yates in would be very good business. We're actually on the verge of having a decent window and ending up stronger than at the beginning of the window. Still, we all know no signing is guaranteed until it's announced on the Rovers website. We know that only too well from last Jan.
  17. We are making a good signing! Forgot what that feels like. Did sense that JDT seemed strangely positive in his presser last week about incomings before the deadline.
  18. JDT seems strangely upbeat about incomings before the deadline. Hopefully he's hearing positive signals from GB. The Crewe guy is a good signing.
  19. It's a shame with Ennis. I actually feel like he has a lot of talent but his fitness and motivation look non-existent. He'll do well in Lge 1 though and hopefully we can then sell him in the summer. Need to get rid of all our current strikers in the summer (Leonard out on loan) and start again.
