v Cambridge Utd (h) - 06/01/24 FA Cup R3

2 goals conceded against a league 2 side in the first 30 mins. Says it all. JDT has no idea how to set up a team. -

My word, we're dreadful. JDT is destroying his reputation after being highly regarded last season. -

Strong line up. Surely we win today. -

The transfer in policy is very, very alarming. We had a very poor summer window and I'm not impressed with the two players we've brought in this window either. They may be good players in the future but are they going to make any great impact on a short term loan deal given their age? I highly doubt it. The Brighton guy couldn't get in Coventry's team and they're only just above us. If the transfer policy does not improve between now and the end of the summer transfer window then we will be in serious relegation trouble next season. Not a chance JDT will be with us next season either. -

He's in the prime of his career so he should be playing regularly these days and looking to maximise his earning potential. If you're not playing regularly, you're in a weak negotiating position come your next move or new contract. He's not suited to a passing style of football and he's too slow. Sit him in front of the back four and ask him not to cross the halfway line and he'll do a half decent job of breaking up play. Trondstad does that role far better though so he's not getting in ahead of him. -

Not bothered about Trav going but to replace him with a kid from Brighton is bonkers. Hill leaving too and replaced by a kid from lge 1. I kinda understand that one as at least it's a permanent deal but JDT has been saying all season that we need experience...and then our first two signings are kids. Our sole purpose is to develop young players these days. Not a shred of ambition. -

Good decision to let Trav go. He needs games and is not very good imo. Surely means we have someone lined up pretty quickly. -
Venky’s v Indian Government (a)

Sorry, typo in my post. It should say *not* allowed to release funds. Court case at the end of Jan which will allow them to send across funds to cover running costs so that we can keep the lights on, but the court won't allow them to send money across for "luxuries" like new signings. -

Another transfer window where Venkys are not allowed to release funds for transfers. This simply cannot go on. Its killed our season and if it continues into the summer transfer window then we will be in big relegation trouble next year. We're not going down this year though. Could this be the catalyst that finally sees them look to sell up? On the other hand, does it suits them? They are limited to how much they can spend on the club and can just blame the Indian government. -

The Crewe guy feels like a good investment. But losing Hill and replacing him with O'Riordan ultimately makes us weaker. I think Travis will go this window to free up some funds. He's not good enough imo. Too slow and no technical ability. Suspect Markanday may go out on loan later in the window with Hedges nearing a return. He's just not good enough full stop. -

We brought in Szmodics, Hyam, and Brittain the previous summer. They were all experienced players and are 3 key players for us now. -

Hill is a good defender at this level so it's a blow to lose him. His form has not been great the last couple of games but he is a good defender. Apparently he's happy here so hopefully it's not the end of the matter. Would like us to try and sign him permanently in the summer if Carter is sold. We won't get a GK in this window. Pears will come back into the team once he's fit. He's poor but he's better than Leo imo. He was solid in the second half of last season and kept Kaminski out of the team, so he does have a bit more about him than Leo who is just simply useless. We need to sell Wharton in the summer and re-invest in the squad. He's a fantastic player but he's also a luxury player and we'd be better off selling him and bringing in 3-4 experienced players. -

rovers11 replied to wilsdenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Valid point but would you trust him with a transfer budget? The only money he did spend in the summer was on Leo who is the worst GK in the championship and probably one of the worst keepers we've ever had. He doesn't have an eye for a player at all. -

Broughton has to go for me. The summer recruitment has been as bad as I can remember. Most of those signings are playing a division or two above their ability level. What a shocker. -

As soon as you bring Markanday on we are essentially playing with 10 men. Get rid. Ennis can go too and take Telalovic, Leo, Moran with him. -

JDT has to go. You have to get the basics right to win football matches consistently in this league. The amount of goals conceded shows he has no idea about getting the basics right. Still, I don't think players like Leo are capable of doing the basics right. -

We are abysmal. Pretty passing football with no substance. What we'd give for a proper manager like Hughes or Allardyce. GB has done us over with a batch of dreadful summer signings. The fault squarely lies with the owners though for the shambles we are this season. -

Utterly dominant but the worst GK in the league has cost us again. We have the two worst GKs in the league. -

I couldn't bare to watch it tbh as I knew it would be another horror show and a Friday evening ruined. The style of football doesn't work unless you have good players. I think we'll win against Rotherham though. They're a team we can outscore. -

rovers11 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If we had a manager like Hughes or Allardyce, I can guarantee none of those scenarios would have happened even with the same defenders. JDT puts no emphasis on working on the defensive side of the game; 90% of the focus is on coaching the players on one touch football and creating chances. That's great in theory but it doesn't work with the players we have. -
v Hull City (a) - 29/12/23
rovers11 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You don't think the style of football hasn't anything to do with the amount of goals we've conceded this season? Why do you think our defenders make so many mistakes? They're asked to pass out from the back all game and our gung ho football means they're run ragged every game. -

He's not getting any money, that's the probldm. We're dangerously close to falling foul of FFP, so until Wharton is sold it will be bargain basement stuff. -

18 goals conceded in 6 games. That's down to the manager and how he wants to play football. His style of football is exciting and but it's completely ineffective for the low calibre of player we have. We need a "win ugly" type of manager who builds from that back. Trying to outscore teams when you have the likes of Moran, Siggy, Markanday, Telalovic, Ennis etc leads to only one result. JDT is a very good manager but he's not the right fit for us.Time to get an organiser through the door.
