You don't need to say the club never gets it wrong, its implicit in your posting. "thought you were privy to all the finer details of the contract discussions"---not sure how you came to that conclusion, I'm as clueless about the details as you are. I do know however that if there are players you want to keep, you reward them incrementally, not leave them on their original wage till the contract is running out.
-
That's plain silly. I'm assuming the club learned its lesson and those players benefitted. About time. I've no idea what we offered either of them. They didn't accept did they? The mistake was to let things run down so long and leave it too late. Your narrative is that the Club never gets it wrong and you have a few mates!

If they're not realistic offers in the view of the player then what's the relevance?

v Norwich City (a) - FAC3 - 8/1/23, 2pm

No, I agree with you there, although we see simple opportunities squandered all the time. I was thinking more of a recent back-heel for example, top drawer. But, we all have our views, I'm glad to see someone up-front with a touch of class beside Brereton personally. can be critical in some games, -

That's Dack's value. 2 or3 times a game he does something no-one else does. Sometimes the others take advantage of it, sometimes they don't. -

With 21% of possession!!! That puts that argument to bed. Possession apparently means nowt! (Let's hope Wills hasn't taken it out on the corgis!) -
Their achievements are even more astonishing then? Repeat---we get the same crowds (or better)---why can't we do it?
-
What about Bournemouth? 13000 every home game!! Why can't we do it?
-
We're a right bunch of mugs really when you think about it. Every transfer window we get all excited, throw names around like confetti, big build-up, hang on to every minute of the last day and then reality dawns and we post about how disappointed we are, who we should have got and who got them instead etc etc. Then the next window comes round and we start all over again as if the last one never happened! Like goldfish in a bowl we are and , like them, doomed to relive it! When was the last good transfer window? I honestly can't remember it. Pre-Venkys probably!
-
Ever since the Burnley game he didn't play in?
-
Good! At the very least, we need---a genuine striker and a real mid-fielder (tougher the better!)
-
Our goal diff will probably edge us out of the six, if points don't. We've lost badly too often.
-
Whatever we want, it'll be Venkys who decide. If they are determined to hold on to Rovers forever, they will. Sadly that seems to mean endless nothingness.

Bradley Dack - Twist or Stick?
47er replied to bigbrandjohn's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think this is right---we offered £2.5M and they turned it down. They then came back to us and took £1.5M, such were their financial circumstances. Widely discussed on Coventry's fan forums at the time. -

And we got him for less than we originally offered! A fluke. -
Not one poster thinks that!!

We got him because Coventry urgently needed cash at the start of the season They approached us! I don't think the rest compare. -
I don't want it to happen, I'm merely telling you how I'd react if it did. Others maybe won't.

AFC Wimbledon was composed by original fans of the club who refused to let it die, so there's another compelling example. If you're relying on legal status then Rangers is a brand new club. and all its historic achievements died with it But its all about the heart and, as far as Rangers fans are concerned, its a new chapter in the history of a famous old club. That's exactly how I'd see it if it happened to Rovers. If others see it differently,I don't mind!
-
I'd expect the insults to flow either way because it would mean one club had gone into liquidation! Wouldn't change my stance on this in any way though. I'd be listening to me not Burnley fans!

Very fair and articulate article from the LT here. Can't disagree with any of it. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23223021.blackburn-rovers-still-needing-pass-eye-test-2023/ -

The ref was odd yesterday. Ignored quite a few tackles I thought were fouls. I suppose that's better than stop-start but the difference between Championship refereeing and Premier League is quite stark. Why? there's no different rule-book is there? -
You could say exactly the same about Rangers but how many Rangers fans do? If we play at Ewood Park (or even if we don't), wear blue and white halves and the words "Blackburn "and "Rovers" are in there then that's my team and that's all there is about it. Legal and technical details won't matter to me.

Yep, we can all see it!
