  1. Don't ignore transfer fee inflation will you JBiz? If he's still got 2 legs he's going to cost, even now, with all this publicity! However I have no idea whether we'll get more than £7M eventually or not. If we do it won't be getting our money back in real terms.
  2. I thought I posted a response on this topic an hour or so ago but I must have forgotten to send it. So, since we are talking about different politicians and their approach to football club ownership, I though it relevant to point out that Labour went to the last election supporting the 50+1 system which gives fans the final say on how their club is run. As far as I know Labour still supports that policy. The Tories do not and have raised the issue of private property as their reason. We'll see what the inquiry concludes, let's hope its quick.
  3. MPs are not elected because e of their interest or otherwise in football but they should take up local issues. And we are one.
  4. Tinker Tailor, Soldier,Spy still available on BBC iPlayer for another 2 weeks or so. This is the original with Alec Guinness etc. Great TV.
  5. This is supposed to be preparation for the Ashes? A disgrace.
  6. Yes---buck started with the Trust and carries on with Venkys.
  7. Agree with most of that but I still blame the Walker Family. Jack died believing he had made adequate provision for the club he loved and they let him down.
  8. In my view they were too eager to cash in whatever the consequences. in the end they dudded themselves. If they had held on for a little longer with the Club in the Premiership they would have pocketed a lot more. Served them right but didn't serve us right.
  9. Walkers don't come out well from all that has happened though?
  10. But if their hobby was, say, model trains, you'd think they would make sure that the wheels were going round after 10+ years.
  11. You think so? Season ticket sales will tell you if that's true.
  12. One conclusion from yesterday's play, if we open with Anderson and Broad in Australia we will be absolutely slaughtered.
  13. I didn't watch a minute of it. As far as I am concerned Russia played the Emirates to see which one has splurged billions less stupidly. I felt no pride that 2 "English" teams made it to the final. It means nothing to me.
  14. Any manager who couldn't spend £7M better than that shouldn't be within a hundred miles of a football club.
  15. If we play 4-4-2,( and personally I wish we would--at least everyone knows what they are meant to do in that set-up) we need a tall striker who can knock it down for Armstrong to pounce and who can score 10-15 goals himself. We also need genuine wide players not made-up ones. That means admitting we've wasted £12M on 2 players who don't fit and spending a fair amount on a new striker so its not going to happen.
  16. We thought it was. We agreed with TM that Top 6 was the aim and that we were capable of it. Never under this manager.
  17. I think you're over rating Rochina myself. Some odd glimpses of talent but overall very disappointing and not Premier League quality.
  18. presumably with a new contract then?
  19. Bournemouth 1 up but it looked like Brentford should have had a penalty before their striker Danjuma ran the length of the pitch unchallenged. Penalty to Bournemouth 14th minute! Harsh decision for me. Ivan Toney scores! 1-1.
  20. They must be hard up is all I can say. Still, if it increases his transfer value its a good thing for us.
