East Lancs Cricket Club ??
47er replied to sympatheticclaret's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football
A follow up to this thread. Amazingly, an article on East Lancs Cricket Club in today's Guardian! https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2021/sep/07/inclusion-revolution-how-east-lancs-cc-have-revived-asian-involvement -
Brings a lump to the throat, will we ever see scenes like that at Ewood again?
-
If true what on earth is the point? What hope do we have?

Yet when United were ahead by a goal, Fergie would dance up and down the touchline frantically pointing to his watch and demanding the ref end the game! -
Yep! Good crosser of the ball was Shearer!

Could the fans save the club without ownership?
47er replied to StubbsUK's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It all depends on what level we're talking about. Fans alone would probably see us in Div 2 or non League. I've always thought the job of the fans if Venkys walked, would be to keep the club going until a new owner or consortium came forward. There's nearly always someone waiting in the wings. We would then hope to gradually rebuild. If we were successful the fans would come, not necessarily "come back" but by then we could attract new ones. Other clubs have died (or almost) and returned, Bolton and Blackpool most recently. So, one way or another, there will always be a Blackburn Rovers but whether the owners are Venkys in perpetuity, the fans or a new owner, time will tell. -
Mowbray's astatements are not about Phillips so much as himself.
-
Exactly what I thought. That and bigging himself up as the manager who's developed him (ie more bullshit!) Interestingly there a "debate" in on the LT about whether Mowbray should take any credit for the lad's signing and development. Most on there think he should of course. Its "on his watch". Personally I want him to shut up about him till he's signed professional forms!
-
Me neither! He's getting above himself there!

Re the rumour about 4 managers turning us down a few months ago. Was one of them Neil? Just wondering because there were people absolutely convinced he was coming here.
-
We're halfway in the League aren't we? Galvanised enough to stay up probably. We can go either way from here but I know where I'd put my money. If Venky's are fed up with him, I say "good". Get on with it.

He's talking about playing for England! If he does, his fee will look pretty miserly.

Aren't Wrexham owned by 2 famous Hollywood stars (whom I've never heard of!)? -
.....but fails to deliver.

And i know people who've followed Rovers for decades and don't go anymore. You'd be better concentrating your concern on them. -

A question, if he is as flexible as you say he is, how come we went for 17 games with only 2 wins and he didn't change anything? Why did he abandon the high-pressing game which gave us such a good start? I still believe football is a simple game made complicated by pretenders such as Mowbray. -

I do think there is a difference in Mowbrey's demeanour these days and it started before the end of last season He looks a beaten man. I can quite believe he knows his number is up and that he's seeing out his contract. He spent a whole season trying to inculcate his possession football into a squad that really didn't seem appropriate for it. I can't believe he would suddenly abandon what he tried to do all last season to suddenly play a different style. I think it was imposed on him which means he really isn't in charge of the team anymore.Since when has he ever been interested in wingers? I am not ITK but that speculation seems to fit for me. -

Do they know that Ewood Park is a disgrace and illustrative of a club in big decline? -

This time a year ago, we (most of us) thought that squad was good enough to challenge for top 6. Even Mowbray thought so and, but for him, we might have made it! Does anyone think we'll be doing anything this season other than trying to avoid relegation? We've gone backwards haven't we? -

You never do! It is as bad! Hardly any of it makes any sense at all. Clearly there was no money to replace Armstrong and this is where those awful decisions to buy Gallagher and Brereton come back to bite us on the bum. -

Whole crowd chanting "Uncle Jack's Blue and White army"! A small start but at least they'd know what we think.
