  1. Both were so classy I can't think of any. Certainly no-one remotely like Duggie. Nowadays he'd be sent away because he was too small and didn't track back enough.
  2. Balaji's trousers bulging at the thought!!
  3. Well we have the better goalkeeper!
  4. We were due a bit of luck from the refs. Maybe that will be significant in the end. Plus, we are scoring late goals instead of conceding them Maybe this is our time!!
  5. He didn't get the minutes or the starts because he was so bad. Wasn't fair to the rest of the team or the supporters. His "recovery" has been remarkable, we're all happy with him now, let's leave it at that.
  6. You're reverting to type there Biz--when your arguments are crap, attack the poster. I'm just expressing my view. For 2 years he was utterly hopeless and you don't have to be a professional to have spotted that.
  7. I don't know that anyone expected "instant success' but what Brereton produced in his first two seasons came nowhere near success. He didn't look like a professional player at any level.
  8. No, we signed him on a wing and a prayer!
  9. Well that's obviously true but unable to sustain it. I did say "we are moving towards etc"
  10. Without big spending though, this side wouldn't stay up. Look at Sheffield Utd. We are travelling towards a situation where the 3 sides that went up come down again, and, because of parachute payments go straight back up again.
  11. Although, Preston's away form has been sound, its their home form that sees them struggling.
  12. Biz, I'm not falling into the old trap of arguing with you till I lose the will to live. You've obviously come back re-energised, but I haven't! In this climate he wouldn't be worth near the £7M we paid. imo, but transfer values have skyrocketed since we signed him so who know's? However had we signed someone else, their value would have increased at least as much especially if they hadn't flopped for 2 years. As to the bit in bold, its not difficult, try harder.
  13. At 17 Elliott is a far better player than Brereton. Rooney was a regular first team player at 16 and there are plenty of other examples. They were worth top dollar, Brereton not so. You can argue till you are blue in the face (and I know you will!) but its all about the fee. We could and should have done much better for that sort of money at that time. His signing didn't help the team at all. In fact he had a negative effect---we played him when he had nothing to offer. If the truth is that he was a speculative investment for Balaji then that's how we should judge the success or otherwise of that transfer deal. Nothing to do with football and all about money for the owners.
  14. A joke yes? Faced with an open goal Brereton had 2 options for 2 seasons: 1) hit the woodwork 2) trip over his own ankles We are all delighted he's come good but there was nothing to suggest it and you pretending you had the greater insight is laughable.
  15. When we are a regular established Premier league side again I might forgive them. Interesting that the only stuff we read then, with one or two honourable exceptions, were how nasty the fans were to poor Steve Kean. Nobody in the media has ever said sorry to the fans.
  16. "fleeting"----2 years!!!!! Welcome back Biz by the way!
  17. Terrific young player, hope we are trying hard enough to keep him.
  18. I came to that conclusion at the time, it really was not inappropriate. He's been very good this season BUT I still don't believe this means we got a great deal or that we couldn't have spent that money so much better. If that money was never available for someone else as some claim, then I blame the owners. If it was TM's choice, then I blame him.
  19. I don't think anyone blames him so much as whoever signed him. He seems very appreciative of the fans from comments he has made. In any case he's playing well now, something I never expected. Better late than never!
  20. And you consistently show no respect to your fellow Rovers supporters many of whom have supported the club through thick and thin for decades longer than you. (Sorry I'm responding to a post from Paul Mani here. Sorry Cucumber!)
