Nailed it!
-
You beat me to it. He's making it up. However those who said Mowbray is tactically clueless and made bad signings (don't remember "shit-loads" though) are alive and well!
-
That early miss of his was pathetic though. Absolute sitter.
-
No chance at all with this manager. Probably not with another.
-
That was my point but I bet we don't.
-
So do we get rid of Samual as plenty were saying we should or does he deserve more chances? If we'd paid £M7 for him he'd play every game!
-
Same happens with Graham---in reverse!
-
Suspiciously odd.
-
Could happen under a different manager.
-
On that basis every new manager is a gamble and we should never change because things might get worse. He doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt, he's failed. We are stuck in the middle of mediocrity going nowhere till we start going downwards. We are bereft of money, dignity and ideas. What we have are poor results, boring football, low crowds, big debts and a fantastic history. We are a few years away from the likes of Bolton, Oldham, and Wigan and I suggest you wake up.

Yes Dack was an outstandingly good signing but nothing excuses Brereton and nothing excuses playing Gallagher on he wing over and over again when everyone can see it doesn't work. Nothing excuses the goal-keeping situation. Nothing excuses the failure to sort out the defence and to depend on loans for key positions. Everyone will accept what you say about Dack but so much else has gone wrong. Massive rebuilding job needed at Ewood in the summer, no confidence Mowbray will make the right decisions with whatever money is made available to him by our crackpot owners.
-
He promised exciting football. He said the fans would be on the edge of their seats! I presume he wasn't referring to an eagerness to get out before the end of the game.
-
If we won all 5 games I'd still want him to go (but we won't).
-
He's been here 3.5 years !! What more could I learn in 5 more games?
-
There's only one way to find out!
-
So you'd reject Hughes and keep Mowbray? Effing barmy! Academic anyway, they would never pay him what he's worth or give him the freedom he'd require. As for Hughes he would never agree to their terms.
-
Delusion---on your part and his. He hasn't got the ability or the desire. Simply stating that he'll be continuing in the role. So more pain in store for us.
-
So when he tells Gallagher to play in the centre he wanders off to the wing?
-
I don't think he understands or admits that he's causing it to a great extent though.
-
I agree with most of what you say but Venkys surely didn't insist that Mowbray sign Gallagher for £5m and Brereton for £7M? Nor do they insist he plays Gallagher on the wing!
-
Can't believe anyone can think Tony can taken us to the next level. This is his level----10th to 12th in the Championship forever. He's been here quite a while now and it could be argued he's stabilised us. But how long does it take before stability becomes mediocrity? He will go on forever keeping us halfway up the Championship or down, whichever way you look at it. We've never seriously threatened Top 6 all the time he's been manager, we need a real over- haul of the squad before next season thanks to his blunders in the transfer market. Will Venkys pay? Will Mowbray make the right choices if they do? Will he play them in the right positions? Time he went, need to be bold. Club dying week by week.
-
His 2 biggest signings are Brereton and Gallagher and they are both flops. We sold a keeper who was our's we now rely on a loan keeper who leaves end of season and the £3M quid we got for him has disappeared. We also have a loan centre-back whom we expect to leave also .2 key positions! I don't agree with you about Mowbray's transfer dealings.
-
Pursuing a Third Division's 32 year old keeper on a free seems to indicate their intentions pretty well? All my life we had great keepers, even when we were broke but not since Venkys came.(some brief exceptions!). Its as if no-one at Rovers understands the value to the whole team of having a safe pair of hands between the posts anymore. Odd given Mowbray's long experience.
-
He's had a lot of time to improve us though and has been backed financially. There has been progress but slow and hardly spectacular. I don't believe he will ever take us up or keep us there if he did. Just an average manager who simply looks good because of the dross which preceded him. If there is a serious intention to get us up, at some point someone is going to have to bite the bullet.

Near enough to Middlesborough to be believable!
