The key word in your post is "if", often referred to as the saddest word in the English language.

There is no hysteria, lots of people are worried though just as you say you are. Read your second sentence again. Quite right, that's what we were told. Read your second---"other than being unable to get them done early"------that's a pretty big "other than". I'm worried others will sign them instead of us, why wouldn't I be as time drags on? Note that I'm quite balanced about this and not all hysterical. So why are we assuming we are skint or no plan b etc? 1) Because Venkys have form in Transfer Windows 2) What other explanation is there for not getting the targets identified and listed in List A before we had even secured promotion and 3 )because TM seems to be putting more reliance on loans which he said he didn't want. So we are both worried but you seem to want to explain your own worries away.
-
"if we don't sign anyone else". Bloody hell!! That is frightening. Is it time to panic yet?
-
Stunned!
-
More likely that, with Venkys, money is never available when you need it.

I know I'm the world's worst at doing patient but if, as seems certain, Venkys won't supply the funds for a promotion challenge then we have to go the Burnley way. It took them 3 promotions from the Championship to become a top half Premier League Club and they didn't spend much money getting there and they didn't splash the cash when they did get there. We have the advantage over them in terms of facilities, particularly the Academy so perhaps we can do it in the 7 or so years it took them. But there's no point in putting our faith in the Academy if the young ones aren't chosen. Travis and Wharton at least should be in the mix this season.I'd be more confident about it if Dyche were our manager! PS I'll be rather put out if we do make it in 6/7 years and I don't! ?

or back to City.

Ah! Maybe I don't remember it like yesterday!
-
We need at least 4 players but it appears we had not realised that prices have surged somewhat and that our transfer budget might be inadequate. Whether we can overcome this problem with loans and be competitive in this league is thus in the balance.
-
Remember that game like yesterday. We came back from 0-2 down to win 3-2. One of the best games I've ever seen. Wasn't it late'63?
-
I don't know why Venkys continue to hang on. I would have thought any "plans" they may have disappeared when we exited the Premier League. Other than sheer pig-headedness and refusal to admit they are clueless, what else could there be? What is there for them but more grief?

"We will never prosper under Venkys." I think I may have said that before!

He's better than Winnfall!
-
Complacency personified.
-
And they always load themselves with more debt! Absolutely useless.
-
Venky world?
-
Venkys splash the cash? ?
-
And, from memory, we only signed 2 players in that first window after we were promoted, ----Shearer and that young 'un from Chelsea!

A Liverpool legend as manager means Rangers will get a fair few favours I imagine.
-
There'd better be a clause in his contract re the maximum number of lashes he gets for alcohol possession, or he won't be fit to play very often!
-
I'm worried that I'll wait and then it'll kill me.
-
Might depend on signings?
-
Reading the LT article TM clearly blaming player wage demands for hold-ups/lack of success. Greedy players or inadequate budget?
-
Yep! I was celebrating Saturday night in Trafalgar square with a few hundred others. Climbed as far up Nelson's Column as I could and then down again! Quite boring really!

The activity on here has been frenetic, the activity by the club in the actual transfer market less so. Is it fair to conclude that the owners have let the manager down yet again and that his inability to sign players "early" and not to rely on last minute loans is probably down to an inadequate budget that leaves the manager no room to move? As it stands, the enormous impetus of a highly successful season is in danger of being thrown away. Its a familiar situation and fore-shadowed by many weeks ago. I can see us struggling to be dragged into a relegation battle which would be heart-breaking after such a lift last season.
