I’m just unsure as to how likely it is that the best Derby could find for those positions would all come from any single club.

I wonder if Eustace even considered going for other players rather than just picking them up from us. I appreciate the ‘he knows them’ point but it just smacks of laziness to me.

Thanks - I’ve looked at the wording for both the PL and EFL regs and there is a difference: PL states a maximum of 17 non home grown players. EFL states a minimum of 8 home grown players.

Yes, I just worked out where the confusion had arisen from. I’ve asked @KentExile to clarify re the reduced squad size rule but perhaps you know where this is from too?

I’m not aware of the reduction in squad list rule if you can’t name 8 home grown players. Perhaps @KentExile can clarify where they’ve seen this.

It’s definitely 7 for the match day squad:

7 need naming in each match day squad. Lots have left from last season, only Alebiosu and Tavares have been bought in (+ the academy ‘promotions’).

My thinking is if the error by the ref is only picked up at slow motion how can it have been a clear and obvious one?

The same as last year, the year before and so on then. Maybe one day they’ll learn, then again maybe they don’t want to.

I’ve not seen the incident but I don’t think slow motion replays should ever be allowed.

We’re going to have far fewer ‘home grown’ players this season (compared to last). As 7 need naming in a match day squad I think there’s going to be games where we’ll end up with a fairly inexperienced bench to meet this requirement. I don’t think we should be letting any more senior ones (eg Hyam) leave unless their replacement counts as home grown too.
