I’d say modern as I think in the past even shite ones tried to change tactics to suit who they had available.

Registration is a one off thing, ie if the deadline is met for the third round it’s met for subsequent ones too. The squad list relates to league matches only

Slightly off topic but this, I think, is an issue with modern managers. They can’t adapt to the players at their disposal resulting in them playing the same system/tactics etc ‘come what may’

I wouldn’t disagree but of those who won’t, there are surely some who would get involved in another way if it was an option.

I don’t see why the message would automatically be mixed/watered down if the protest included both people boycotting and others entering the ground late. In fact it would have the possibility of a ‘double impact’ - fewer fans + it being clear those who are attending are against the regime too.

I don’t think it’s helpful to suggest someone attending means they’re content with the running of the club. It would be far better to try and establish how people who wish to attend can contribute in a different way.

Would a realistic compromise be… Those who want to boycott do so; Those who don’t enter the ground (eg) 5 minutes after kick off?

The notion of strong support can be countered irrespective of the success or otherwise of the boycott.
