Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?
tomphil replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
To just promote Pears to perm number 1 now and let TK go whilst bringing in or promoting another rookie as number 2 would be insane at this moment in time. It would come back and bite us badly at some point and would show very little planning or brains. Until his bad spell and injury Tommy K was amongst the best few keepers in the div since he came here. Without doubt our best keeper since Robinson still had some gas in the tank. If someone is offering good money for either then fair enough sell one and reinvest otherwise let them fight it out next season. Loan options are always there in Jan but i wouldn't decide anything before then. -
The selling point is the 7th placed highest finish in a decade of championship football with a hungry young team based around our own Academy. Quite an easy sell really compared to the blandness of the recent past so if you are going to do a bold deal to rebuild the season ticket base now is the time. They didn't want to know after lge one promotion when that was probably the best time ever so no chance now. That lad can have as many bright ideas as he wants if he was so inclined but he'll not get them past the fat controller, shadow man of the owners. He'll probably leave in 12 months time for Doncaster or Carlisle !

Quite funny to be fair, i just wish it wasn't us.

He spent 15 million on 3 forwards in the space of a year.

They don't realise their lack of ambition to rebuild the crowds is doing in the local area and for the clubs future. Burnley now monopolising support in East Lancs, thankfully they don't have a near 32k capacity but if they did they wouldn't fill it. What they would do though is do some deals to try and fill it like we used to do. Preston are just Preston but they get extra in just because it's cheap and Bolton on the other side are rebuilding their club putting great importance on the numbers attending. Rovers sit in the middle struggling for numbers and on the back of basically threatening fans in the past to buy and ST/renew or face price hikes now it's grab one early and you'll save twenty quid ! Revolutionary thinking.

And they have a generation of newbies and youngsters who have zero concept of Rovers being the bigger more successful club. Crowds crowds crowds we are massive they are yelling until their Championship averages in the not too distant past are shown to them. Then it becomes but we are a tiny town with the best support in the world, until the population of the Burnley urban area and their catchment area is displayed to them. Then it becomes we've got loads of money and you're skint, well you are now run by an investors fund whose aim is for returns from the Prem riches. Venkys for all their ills use their own money to underwrite the loses whereas that lot seem to be bringing in any Yank nobody who wants a bit of publicity this side of the pond. It has Ellis Short and Randy Learner written all over it. Nauseating, Wrexham is a fairy tale, Rovers was winning the Prem but these lot are embarrassing trying to tell a fake tale and thats been done to death a thousand times over across English football. Lets hear it for Luton Town and the like not these deluded bandwagoning inbreds.

Wasn't the training ground money not due till this summer or something ? -
Yep that pair and Waggot had no real plan at all they were just shrugging their shoulders and winging it from season to season.

Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach

He'll have a vision of what he wants to do here although i think a lot of the 'project' talk was just to deflect scrutiny and pressure. That seems to have faded in recent months but it did usually surface earlier after bad defeats not draws with decent performances. Now he'll have a better idea of what he needs and how far he thinks he can push it, to better this season without backing and good players leaving maybe not being replaced will be nigh on impossible. If the club doesn't share his vision and at least pledge to reinvest the freed up wages this summer then i'm sure he'll want to listen to any other interested parties. I'm sure he isn't expecting millions he knew when he took the job we'd be focused on our own developments but that will need a lot of help this summer. -

Don't come on here blowing Mowbrays trumpet, not today. -
Not having a go at the player himself but the wisdom ( never a word associated with Venky owned Rovers ) in the whole scenario of signing him has proved to be utterly pointless. Two good spells a year apart in 4 years plus at the club, no return on the 7 million or even a penny back towards it. No top 6 finishes and we are losing him anyway instead of having a player we've grown pay us back in time if not money. That fee could and should have been so much better used, a pointless experiment and a costly one. Good luck to him though seems a decent guy and when he's at it he was a joy to watch.

2 years on his contract so are clubs who might look his way really going to pay that kind of compen ? So unless he buys himself out or has an unknown clause in there then he'll not be going anywhere. The most important thing is if his heart is still in it and he believes we can progress. That's on those running it but more cuts will end any notion of progress or ambition. If Dack and Ayala leave on the back of BBD that's considerable wages freed up so simply put it's an absolute must it's all reinvested not just chopped from the budget. -

This. Despite playing well from there he is wasted at right back he's the best all rounder at the club this season. -

He certainly was when he first came but he's gone backwards badly since, main problem is the serious lack of pace. Bell had pace but he was largely crap defensively lets not rewrite history. -

The bad decisions are on the players but these tactics are firmly on the coaching staff and have been an issue all season. Also Pickering, he needs to be back up to someone better. -

T'was a good season whilst it lasted ! Not long before we hear the old 'inexperienced' line rotted out again. -

Hes inherited some good young forward players up there that he seems to throw on and let them do their thing and it's worked well for them. He's at least 2 windows away from his full on jobs for the boys subs for rotating, different systems for every opposition stuff. -

I think that's mostly down to a team, squad like ours always needing help in Jan and a bit of a booster which never materialises. Mowbray cocked that up badly last season, the suits cocked it up even worse this time and the ownership has been neglecting it ever since the parachute money was bled away. They are the ones who need to learn as much as the team.
