The Godlike Genius of Charlie Mulgrew
philipl replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Here's hoping for a glorious Indian Summer from the big man. -
Here's looking forward to what I am hoping will be Ben's breakthrough season.
-
Unlikely to be ready for Saturday but sounds like he is seriously in contention next week.
-
Buzzing about this signing. Pep doesn't waste his words. I discount most of the Baggies comments - you'd think Raya couldn't walk judging by some views on here after he left. Key for me is he is a young player a year older so very decent chance he has come on quite a bit. I fancy we will make one signing next week and we will see as many as four going out either permanently or on loan.
-
We have strong competition for places in midfield and forward line which augurs well.
-
Rich Sharpe's bench only has Nyambe as cover at central defence.
-
Despite Palmer's current £4.5m price tag, I wouldn't have wanted to have seen any more of him in a Rovers shirt. Would you?
-
Has Tosin signed or not? Looks likely he will be here in time to be selected for the bench.
-
I would like that.

There is zero reason to inflate the numbers and besides they are in line with the injections this year through Venky's London. If you are doing those types of installations properly at the level Premier League clubs have including subscriptions to feeds and analytics so you have something to look at in the booths, those are the sort of prices you are looking at. Only top level leagues have the monitoring kit to supply the data which in itself is a statement of intent from Rovers. Yes you are right regarding Academy investment. It is voluntary in the sense there are plenty of Academies around that aren't Cat A but the commitment has been made to remain at top level. -
Downing in place of Bell at left wing back? Still think it 50/50 there will be a new central defender in place of Mulgrew.

I hadn't seen that- I agree the treatment by the Mail is predictably abysmal.

I was unaware the article had been cited as an example of racism in sport. It didn't strike me as racist but I appreciate that racism can be perniciously subversive. As far as I am aware, a deal was done with City two weeks ago and all the issues are with the player and his representative. For what its worth In my twenties I dealt with two young musicians (one black, one white) whose sibling "agents" were so impossible, neither ever got a second booking and they disappeared, talent totally unrecognised. That was what played on my mind when I posted this.

Opening day last season, Brentford put League 1 play-off winners to the sword 5-0 and put a healthy goal difference into the bank. Is it too much to ask that we are preparing to do the same to the latest League 1 play off winners on Saturday?

Bolton Wanderers Unpaid Staff Need Food bank.

Have to say it is looking horribly ominous for Bury. I would put odds of extinction at well over 50% now. The absolute lack of interest in the club from a town bigger than Blackburn suggests the Shakers are seriously unloved. I don't think Bolton are in that much better shape either. There must be some really awful stuff under the surface for nobody local to have come forward seriously. -
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5253633/Man-City-footballer-20-25k-week-buys-market-2-25m-home.html He is on £25k per week and his brother is agent. Sounds like a totally toxic combination which is going to cause nothing but trouble. The mere fact this story appeared in the Mail means his brother needs a serious talking to. That said he has been seriously discussed on City fan boards as possibly being ready to step up as a Kompany replacement.

I'd take that keeper swap if it is on offer rather than a Championship Manager game play.
-
If you Google him, he has a single mother and two siblings. He bought a house for them all when he was 19 which cost over £2 million which even on City wages means he owes somebody a large amount of money. My guess his agent has excessive control but Mowbray has hinted his Mum is also involved in the delay.
-
On Tosin, deal terms with City were agreed nearly two weeks ago. There are hints of personal/ agent/ parental issues.

Rovers new style of play and how we play it
philipl replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Yes- either disaster or as clever as three over lapping central defenders for Sheffield United last season. I guess we will have a good indication by the end of August. Downing might need a pacemaker before the season is out... Will need us to get that beast central defender (or two) signed with that lop-sided defence. -

And this all action left wing back is.... -
Nuttall has a striker's inate instinct but the rest of his game needs to be developed. I would loan rather than sell.
