  1. This could be huge and if proven to be true open a can of worms. Coming hot on the heels after the much criticised World Cup and Juventus scandal football could once achieve entering murky waters. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12830520/barcelona-laliga-giants-charged-over-payments-to-former-referees-official-jose-maria-enriquez-negreira
  2. We didn't play well last night and deserved 'nowt but it wasn't a Burnley, Preston or Rotherham type performance. We simply didn't do what we are good at and allowed Stoke to dominate us physically. As with any defeat it's how you react and Wednesday is the perfect opportunity to get back to winning but we simply have to impose ourselves on Reading with the high tempo, pressing game that suits our players.
  3. What really hurt me tonight was that the things we have done so well recently (intensity, pace and effort) were our weaknesses for most of the game. To be truthful 3-2 flattered us as Stoke relaxed and gave us a glimmer of hope but it was more than we deserved. Was it attitude with us having been on a great run and the players thinking turning up would be enough? They were better than us all over the pitch and when we did get forward usually a poor final pass killed our momentum. Decision making wasn't very good all night and until we went three down we hardly win a tackle. Hopefully Tomasson uses this as a wake up call to his players to demonstrate that if you aren't at it every game this league will find you out. I think there will be several changes for Wednesday night and then plenty of places up for grabs to play in an FA Cup Quarter Final in the next game. Just wanting it more than your opponent is sometimes enough to get you over the line but tonight we were found wanting.
  4. I booked the train a few weeks ago to go to this game and just had an email to say the journey from Bolton to Manchester is cancelled. Driving it is then. Good old Northern Fail.
  5. Mick was an apprentice Andy but I can't see the likeness. Just checked and David Bradford was born in Feb 53 making him about three years older than Mick. Along with Mick two other Blackburn lads got apprenticeships, Dave Eastwood and Paul Read. I don't think they are on the picture.
  6. I came across this some time ago and I've kind of guessed it is Rovers apprentices from the 70's on a referees course and was the norm at that time. I think they are back row: David Lloyd, ?, Richard Dinnis, Kevin Hird, ?, Front row: ?, ?, David Bradford, ?, ?, Dennis Letts. The instructor is Ivan Smith. any ideas?
  7. He was six months into an 18 month deal so he will get that paid up. Nice work if you can get it.
  8. A strange choice of kit for last night's match at Leicester particularly after we played last week against them and wore red. I wonder if we are struggling to provide enough kit for the under 21's given the shortage. We did however change our socks to red.
  9. I agree there was more likely a more extensive list but the players I named (to use transfer deadline day parlance) were in the building. As a striker was the priority it was a failure and I think Williams has took the rap.
  10. We must have been close to you at Watford and witnessed the boorish behaviour of the few you mention. There was a family behind them and the woman with her kids screamed at them. Somebody said after one of them had peed where he was stood. After ten minutes we moved to get away.
  11. Broughton said we did find the players we wanted, Undav, the French lad, O'Brien and Brierley, but they wouldn't come or the deals were ballsed up. It seems to me he is the sacrificial lamb in the whole sorry mess.
  12. He has been bailed until June 1st. Hopefully there are conditions in his bail that keeps him away from football otherwise he could turn up at Ewood on April 25th. https://www.lancashire.police.uk/news/2023/march/investigation-continues-as-man-assaulted-in-blackpool-sadly-dies/
  13. He is on the record as saying that. Even an idiot wouldn't go public and essentially fabricate a story.
  14. Then why was the new £2m pitch that Waggott went public with (so they sanctioned the spend) pulled?
  15. Sheffield United out theirs on sale this morning to season ticket holders.
  16. Very sad news indeed. Tony Johnson was pretty much every one of us according to what some of his close friends have said. He was a Blackpool supporter who loved his club as we do ours. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and wider Blackpool fan base who will be mourning their loss. RIP.
  17. That's a good question Tyrone. I think Simon Garner as we don't have what I consider a natural goalscorer now. Can you imagine though the 80's Garner fitting into today's version of the sports science, nutrition driven athletes we have today 😂😂
  18. I understand they will be getting £750k from the PL for allowing the Rovers Ladies to play their home games on it. That won't cover the cost of a new pitch so they are 'stitching' some parts of it. If it's true these owners aren't spending on it again despite any financial outlay not impacting on P&S. That is the very same owners who apparently never refuse to sign a cheque.
  19. I remember the name Andy and that we got him from Hull but I'm buggered if I can remember what he looked like. It also makes sense as he would have been at full back putting the tackle in.
  20. Who is the Rovers player? I can't decide between Chris Thompson and Andy Crawford (although as forwards why would they be tackling the opposition's main striker)?
  21. Unless we are going against what is almost a convention now no transfer fees are paid entirely in one payment. They are structured over the length of the players contract. So lauding these owners for something that would probably never happen anyway and if it did they wouldn't be throwing £10m in one go is poor in my view.
  22. Second yellow for his foul on Nunez. He also pulled Salah back after that when he was away from him.
