That's it in a nutshell.
-
The worst thing about tonight is that it gives Mowbray the excuse to hide behind the sending off.
-
Don't think Brereton has any defence whatsoever. He just took a swipe at the bloke and had no chance whatsoever of getting the ball. Sometimes it would be a yellow but I dont think you can complain at all about getting a red. It's completely unnecessary and not worth the risk.
-
So his solution? Start with no-one down the middle! Edit: Brereton very stupid there, despite the reaction from the Rovers commentating team.
-
Armstrong off? Seen it all now.
-
Spot on as well. It's an easy game he tries to massively over complicate.
-
100%.
-
Better in terms of overall play, but playing this weird formation I don't think we look as if we could score if we played until this time next week. The two Rovers commentators seem to think we're playing like Liverpool.
-
Promising move, ball gets to Bennett and everything breaks down. Couple of better balls from Holtby. Samuel's terrible.
-
Unfortunately my I follow stream is perfect. They look a yard quicker than us at the moment. And on the rare occasion when we do get the ball we're heading down either flank with no-one to cross to in the middle. Another Mowbray tactical master class.
-
Why is Johnson starting ahead of Davenport as well?
-
He contracted it before Bennett didn't he?
-
He didn't play Armstrong the last two games........
-
Pretty typical of Mowbray. Bennett and Walton wouldn't get dropped if they wiped Mowbray's family out at gunpoint. Brereton couldn't get a run of games if he prevented Bennett and Walton from wiping out Mowbray's family at gunpoint. At least Armstrong is back in but what has Samuel done to deserve the nod? It's obviously his turn to be useless on the right wing instead of Gallagher. It's going to be "interesting" (as in scary) to see how Mulgrew does as well. Not looking good.

Absolutely spot on, with the slight difference that although I don't think we will make the play offs whilst we are mathematically still in with a chance we are duty bound to do anything we can to try and keep in the race and that means firing off Walton, Gallagher and Gallagher from the starting eleven immediately. If that means bringing in youngsters so be it. It's not a case that the pragmatic solution is keep playing these proven failures until we are mathematically out of the equation and only then risk youngsters. It's the other way round. We need to make changes in the hope they can keep us mathematically in the hunt as opposed to doing nothing and letting the same old suspects knock us out of it.

Spot on. Mowbray doesn't know he's born when you consider the sort of wheeling and dealing Ken Furphy had to do to turn us round. The difference between the likes of Lee and Furphy and Mowbray though is that they recognised what needed to be done in terms of changing personnel to try and make us successful. There'd be no standing on ceremony being loyal to players who might have been good servants in the past or dishing out new contracts like sweeties to players who'd not really done anything to warrant it in the first place. Said players were packed off and replaced by someone Furphy or Lee thought could do a better job. -

If we're being realistic I'm not sure how viable it would have been to replace Dack in January. How do you find someone of comparable quality on a permanent basis on a budget and how many Clubs would be prepared to let anyone of similar quality go out on loan? Theoretically we had Holtby on the books who could maybe replace some of Dack's creativity if not the goals. I've been really disappointed with his input since the return, I've no idea where he's meant to be playing and to me it looks like Mowbray has knocked all the fire and enthusiasm he had when he arrived out of him. -

Why would anyone agree to anything other than an extra month on the same terms as before? It wouldn't really be worth their while to hang around otherwise and certainly not on a pay as you play basis, you'd be coming in and training and making yourself available for free basically. -

Since we were relegated from the Prem we've never once really looked like seriously challenging for the play off positions from the Championship and to date every time we have got anywhere near under either Bowyer or Mowbray we have bottled it which is a pretty damning state of affairs. People may not agree but I think there has been a culture of doing the bare minimum at the Club ever since Allardyce was here. Prioritising certain games and not bothering so much about others worked for him because the narrative at the majority of the Clubs he's worked at has been accumulating a minimum number of points to ensure survival. But that sort of mentality is no good if you're in a lower division and looking to achieve anything. I think there's a holiday camp feel around the Club and has been for many years. The feeling is never stronger than at transfer window time when the manager clearly has no particular inclination to try and improve the starting eleven or dislodge any of his favourites. I don't think anything will change until a manager comes in who expects and demands success and this is combined with workable support from the owners which to be fair Mowbray has had but largely squandered. -

Sorry, I meant Hilton after someone endorsed him. I haven't seen either Walton or Fisher but I made the point last night immediately after the game that surely we must have a young lad on the books that could do better than Walton and I stand by that. As to who is the better between Hilton and Fisher I'll defer to those that have seen them. -

Exactly. If he's not good enough to be risked, he shouldn't be at the Club. Give him a chance, if he isn't good enough, get rid. -

As bad as yesterday's goal was, the goal he let in against Bristol City was far worse and indicative of Walton's complete lack of ability. Bit like the pea roller he let in early on in the season at home against whom I can't quite recall. -

I've never understood the argument in favour of playing a player who you know for a fact is crap ahead of a younger one because the former has "experience" and the younger one hasn't been handed a chance yet. Everyone has to start sometime and until they're given a chance you'll never know what they are capable of. I'm not sure either how Walton dropping clanger after clanger is us getting value for money out of him regardless of whether we've extended his deal to the end of the season or not. By that argument you might as well make Smallwood an automatic starter for the remainder of the season. -

We might be lucky if he's still at the Club next season. -

I see no point in playing either Walton or Leutwiler. We know already they're both absolute garbage. Walton definitely won't be here next season and I've lost track of when Leutwiler is contracted to but he definitely shouldn't be here either. Give Fisher a chance and see what he can do. Worst case scenario is he's no better than the other two but it's fairly unlikely he will be significantly worse. If he's not up to it either then so be it, we're not really any worse off and we've learnt something valuable going forward. On the plus side he might be considerably better. Persisting with Walton is like keep taking a boat with a hole in it out and hoping the hole will miraculously repair itself and the boat wont sink this time. (Ditto playing Bennett at LB or Gallagher on the right wing and expecting them to play well)
