I must admit I thought that was a Cromwell quote to parliament but the point remains.

Plus the budget in this division is often trotted out as a reason we can’t compete at the top. So can’t have it both ways when our budget eclipses everyone else’s in the division. Something like the 7th season in the clubs history in the third tier. It was embarrassing being there and we did the minimum expected by leaving it. Other clubs past and present should expect the same even though there’s been varying degrees of success. -

It’s not surprising from a man who during his latest fad of pointless possession across the back 4 would arrogantly say he’s not a results based manager but a performance related one. The irony being that possession football as a spectacle was up there as horrendous as anything fat Sam ever served up. -

It was more give him the summer let’s see what he can do. Nothing happens…Can’t possibly sack a manager 10 games into the new season give him to Christmas…it would be crazy to sack a manager with all the important fixtures round Xmas let’s see what he can do in January…players need time to bed in let’s see where we are at Easter. Then dolloping around the usual 11th-15th zone of terror…only 5-10 games left would be pointless to sack him now…let’s see what he can do in the summer. Repeat. -

Because in my opinion there’s no passion down there anymore. A win, loss or draw is almost greeted the same with a Mowbray esque shrug of the shoulders and a see you in a fortnight. Maybe the odd grumbling at a 7-0 home defeat and a ripple of applause for a win. I totally understand why. The fans last stand came against Kean and we lost and suffered a very public humiliation. The fans have been totally sidelined by the club ever since and are responding as such. So in terms of the crowd turning on Mowbray, the executives or the Venkys nothing will happen not now not ever. -
What’s worse is I bloody knew this would happen. Even during the crest of the wave of our purple patch.

I think he’s got too much to concentrate on bowling and batting. Plus he’s not always right mentally. I disagree about the merits of a captain. I think a good captain would make up for no contribution in terms of runs or wickets as Jim said Mike brearley is the gold standard of that theory. Root is one of the finest batsmen we’ve produced but his captaincy cost us as many runs as he ever scored.

The managerial Morecambe and Wise.
-
Agree. I think stokes would end in disaster. We constantly underestimate the value of a captain. Unlike in football in cricket it’s the most important decision. I’d also reach out to the county circuit and appoint whoever is acknowledged as the best captain. If, for eg, that’s Will Rhodes from notts who would never ordinarily be selected then so be it. The Mike brearley selection could be the way to go as we currently are. Plus it’s not like the person coming in will replace someone scoring runs. Thats assuming there even is one the cupboard might be empty.

Dyche was on 5.6m a year apparently.
-
No reason anyone should know this but where does dyche live? Can’t see him thinking Burnley is the place to be. But did he settle somewhere locally or commute like moggadon.
-
Burnley is closer to Middlesbrough. Come on tony get down the turf.
-
Swap managers.
-
He’d have been the best man to get them promoted again.
