I also think bowyer was dealt the worst hand of the lot of them. Someone who was also totally out of his depth but he did manage higher league positions than Mowbray has ever managed. Although I’ll add the caveat as far as bowyer was concerned to have 40 odd goals in the front 2 and not to lay a glove on the playoffs was disgraceful. It’s been a truly grim decade + under this mob.

It’ll be something to 0. Fairly sure of that. Going for an optimistic 0-0 -
I just couldn’t bare another season of him. The Venkys, well the people they employ to run the club, haven’t managed or even attempted to bring the wage bill under control in 12 years. I reckon you could start by halving Mowbray's salary (whatever it is) and he’d still be desperate to sign. I doubt any club in the business end of the championship will take a punt on Mowbray. Here he’s got access to enviable training facilities, particularly for the championship, and a academy worthy of any top division European club. He operates with total autonomy. There’s no pressure from fans, swag and his pals, the let, and from his point of view he’s employed by owners who do not hold him to account but are happy to keep writing his cheques. Its the dream job for a manager. Most other managers would consider themselves truly blessed to have one of those things and Tone has the lot.

God that had me then. I actually thought play offs might be back on for a second. I saw a future without ageing defensive midfielders up front and strikers on the wing.

Even with the recent low bar set by this England side this is still some of the worst cricket I’ve ever seen.

Seeing a Mexican wave go round Wembley is heartbreaking. Just goes to show the types attracted to England home matches these days.

Another collapse. What was Root saying about momentum!! Momentum is when you win games, not draw on two dead pitches. Soon as it starts moving, we can’t bat

5/10. Middle of the road score for a middle of the road manager. The good: took over from coyle, promotion from division 3, some decent signings. The bad: cups pretty much most seasons, failing to have a top 10 finish, some of the absolute tripe he comes out with, the excuses (not that he makes excuses). All in all its just been a bog standard tenure. Two words to sum up his reign stability and mediocrity

I think that’s the irony with this season. If we were bumbling around our usual 11th-15th zone which many seem thrilled by finishing 7th he’d more than likely get an open top bus parade en route to sign a big fat juicy contract extension. However, because we were in 2nd in February if we finish 7th now it will be seen as a disaster and it could spell the end of him.

Jadeja’s not had a bad test - 175* and match figures of 9/87.

It’s absolutely a results business and something Mowbray needs constantly reminding of when things are going pear shaped because it’s a performance business then. So he can and will accept all the plaudits for us being in 4th. If we stay in the play offs come May 7th then again hats off for overachieving and if there’s then a promotion as much as I dislike the man I’ll help dig the footings for this statue. But for me this season can be explained by one freak occurrence. A guy with 8 career goals before the start of the season scoring 20 goals in almost as many games. Goals which catapulted us up the league during an equally freakish 2 month long unbeaten run of 7 wins from 9 with 2 draws. Either side of November-December it’s been the same old crap it’s been every other season. -

Next season Fulham will almost certainly get relegated and mitrovic with 34 league goals will probably not hit double figures. Just shows what is required to compete in the prem. -

In the championship in a town like blackburn I don’t think you can go past the £400 mark. So jw centre padded seats £399.99 slightly less on the wings behind both goals £350 as for the riverside it’s so dilapidated it should be less still. Home cup games thrown in. Then for non season ticket holders no different categories just a flat fee of £20-£25. That in conjunction with a better match day experience off the pitch. Encourage spending. Ie a decent selection of beers perhaps sourced from local breweries. Actual edible food again perhaps go to the community utilising local businesses that make food or supply it. There’s some bloody good bakeries/butty shops about that might well want to sell pies etc inside ewood to a captive audience (for a rental fee). Maybe use each kiosk as their own little bit. I wouldn’t feed the food currently at ewood to my dog. There’s so many little things they could try but don’t. Transport initiatives seem non existent. Anything than rehashing the same old promotions that they acknowledged failed in previous seasons. -

Just every time they feel the need to dream up some daft promotion. Of course if they didn’t cock up season ticket sales every summer through lateness, price, etc then they wouldn’t need to dream up daft deals. -

Don’t need to make bring a friend scheme nor do they need to be convoluted. Any where in the ground a tenner. Simple. No moving goal posts no stupid promotions. -

I see they’re at it again. What is it with these convoluted schemes at the moment. They never learn. What’s wrong with £10 for all in any area of the ground. What’s the next deal: if you buy a ticket for a Saturday 3pm match on the day it’ll cost £15 but only if you attended the previous midweek game and you have to sit in the Darwen end. If you arrive after 2pm it’ll cost an extra £2, unless you bought your ticket between 9 and 10am on a Tuesday providing it wasn’t raining. If you take advantage of this offer you can also bring a friend for a fiver but only if they wear a yellow hat. -
It’s not obvious even reading about football with some of these ludicrous terms.

There’s no side, perhaps Fulham aside, in this division we couldn’t beat. But the flip side of that coin is there’s no side we couldn’t lose to either. I don’t think we’ll finish top 6 but if we did it’s a lottery.

What was the reason out of interest?
-
I honestly can’t remember who we were linked with. The usual Venkys trait was to sack someone then take 5 weeks to replace them or just give it to someone already there. I seem to recall Mowbray was appointed fairly swiftly suggesting he was the target. Again I can’t recall which charlatan was in the swag hot seat at the time but how or why they landed on Mowbray will probably forever remain a mystery.
-
I wouldn’t get too bogged down in who would be a good theoretical replacement for Mowbray. Some appointments that look good on paper turn into a disaster and some that look crap bizarrely work. Even here a lot were horrified at Mowbray’s appointment very much yesterday’s man even back in 2017. A promotion to the prem a decade before we appointed him then an abysmal spell at Celtic and nothing efforts at boro/Coventry. Despite this he’s actually done an average job here better than most would have predicted. Even though not one single fan 5 years ago would have been touting Mowbray to replace Coyle
-
I despise the owners with a passion but after 5 years of Mowbray, and them sinking another £100 + million into the club during his reign, I don’t think it’s unreasonable that they get answers from the dynamic duo as to what have they got for their money. Other than a slice of mrs Mowbray’s famous lemon drizzle cake. Unless this season brings some form of success then a relegation (admittedly mainly coyle’s mess), promotion from division 3 and a string of mid-lower mid table finishes should not cut it.

The fact the man who presides over the shambles that is the day to day running of rovers is on £300k boils my blood. Swag must go to sleep laughing and wake up laughing that he’s found some mugs prepared to pay him £300,000 a year. If the head of marketing, if there is one, is on more than minimum wage same goes for him. I only say him because I noticed another bundle deal package for the last 5 games. Just what is it they are not getting about the reasons these promotions are a commercial flop. Even if the subtle reasons (and the reasons aren’t subtle) why they fail go over their heads they must be able to see the figures and conclude they fail. Nope let’s double down on another bundle. When a player is having an atrocious game out of frustration every now and again people say I’d be better than him. Clearly that’s just bollocks and most people aren’t/were never good enough to play unibond league but when it comes to swag I truly believe I’d do a better job. -

I’m glad some fans are prepared to keep chipping away at them but all the club are good for is waffle, excuses and inaction. It’s laughable some of the things that need pointing out to them particularly in terms of basic maintenance of the ground. Then take the pitch situation. 11th January 2021: JW asked what plans the club had to improve the state of the Ewood Park pitch. SW said that there had a number of issues causing the deterioration in the state of the pitch this season. SW stated that there was little the club could do during this time of the season and being mid-Winter but that plans were being looked at for the usual full renovation of the pitch during the coming Summer close season. 8th of March 2021: TS asked whether there was an update on plans to replace or refurbish the Ewood Park pitch. SW replied that keeping the pitch in a decent state had been a real challenge this season after only having a 4 week close season to do any work and then having to play games in a compressed season along with bad weather. The club had already met with a preferred supplier. It would be possible to do a surface renewal but the club would really like to take the site right down to replace everything and install a more eco-friendly stitched pitch. 18th of May: TS stated that at the last meeting the club were in the process of tendering for a complete reconstruction of the pitch at Ewood Park. SW added that a preferred supplier had been selected with a budget of close to £2m. 19th of July. Matters Arising from the Minutes of the Previous Meeting 18th May 2021: Ewood Park Pitch. JW asked for an update on the Summer work on the Ewood Park pitch. SW stated the club had hoped to have a complete pitch rebuild this Summer but the £2m cost had been prohibitive. To the present day the pitch is still an issue and no doubt will be brought up again in light of an actual fixture cancellation and no doubt will be met with more waffle and excuses. As for their “fan re-engagement plan” it’s a joke every time. They might as well just say we did nothing, we thought of nothing and tried nothing. Its the fault of xyz external factors. I’m not trawling right back through the archives but years ago I recall reading someone bringing up the quality of the food/service and the general poor choice of food and booze. At the time it was probably met with the same waffle of suppliers or swags trademark we’ll look in to it. Guess what years on it’s still crap, there’s still no decent booze selection and it’s hideously expensive to boot. Was anything ever done I think we all know the answer. As much as anything the minutes of the meetings provide a timeline to just how useless the top brass at the club really are.
