By the logic of getting to the premiership then surely keeping Mowbray as long as we did was pointless. We don’t know that any of the desperados will get rovers to the prem but after 5 long years of Mowbray it’s pretty obvious he definitely wouldn’t.

If you look at the Venkys appointments - Kean, Berg, Bowyer, Appleton, Lambert, Coyle, Mowbray. In terms of who “deserved” to be appointed out of that lot I’d say at the time of appointing them only Lambert had done more than Ainsworth to be a worthy appointment on paper (recent achievements/pedigree). Who’s to know how anything works out but he shouldn’t be dismissed simply because he’s a fan. In my opinion he would fail here but I’ll add the caveat I also think a vintage Alex Ferguson would fail here due to the rudderless leadership at the club

Fond memories of the uefa cup tie (result aside). Very surreal weekend. On thing on the way to the ground we asked a Celtic fan if there was any pubs near the ground we’d be able to sup in. He said come with me we arrived at this pub which had steel shutters that were half way shut so had to duck under to get in. When we arrived it was like a scene out of a film the whole place went quiet, you could literally hear a pin drop, there were 4 of us and I pictured the shutters going down and us brawling for our lives. The guy we were with whispered something to this big bloke then the pub just carried on as normal. No idea what it was called one of the lads thinks it was called the Bonnie Prince Charlie (I disagree) but would say a lot. But they were great with us. On the way out saw a pub with loads of Union flags seemed to be very close to Celtic park. 🤷‍♂️. So thought this’ll do. In this pub we literally never had to put our hands in our pockets. Unlucky lads. Even though we lost they seemed thrilled about the fact they’d never seen Celtic taught such a footballing lesson. Tidy Glaswegian birds coming over. Felt like a table of Brad Pitt’s for the evening. Apparently both these pubs appeared in a programme about Britain’s roughest pubs. Never saw it but I wonder if anyone has done both in the same day on a match day.

I’m not too sure about that. 2 promotions to the prem in the last 4 years vs 1 promotion 15 years ago. Mowbray has 3 poor to middling spells at Celtic, Middlesbrough and Coventry. His win percent at Norwich was 41.8% vs Mowbray’s 40% at rovers but that is somewhat bolstered by our spell in the 3rd division.
