  1. Boult was on fire early on but some of those shots for the wickets. Particularly stokes chipping up to mid off at 50/4. Play yourself in man it’s 5 days not 5 overs. That Trent bridge test may turn out to be the worst thing to happen to English test cricket in terms of this “positive mentality”. At least for the foreseeable future when they play moronic slogging cricket they’ll say well Trent bridge. It’s the team equivalent of Crawley’s 253 which justifies his selection forever more in spite of 19 single figure scores in the 35 innings since. England are believing their own hype and defining positive cricket as slogging/reckless cricket. As exciting as the Trent bridge finale was it was a freak occurrence victory thanks to once in lifetime Barstow innings. The Stokes era won't survive long unless they learn to how to play proper test cricket.
  2. I’d like to see them bring in rules about checking the ball. Modern sides can’t get their overs in as it is due to the constant faffing but with England moaning about the ball every over this morning and New Zealand in the last game something needs to happen. I’d say get one check for “free” then every time you ask and the ball is fine you lose 10 runs. The way Broad was carrying on for about 15 overs was an embarrassment. Whinging like a toddler when didn’t get his way then once the ball didn’t go through it’s hole and they got a new one sarcastically clapping at Erasmus. Not a good look.
  3. Boult actually bowling at the bloody stumps instead banging it half way down the pitch like England do. I’ll never understand that tactic it’s an annoying hangover from the Root/Silverwood era
  4. I think the rain defo gained a point for Lancs there. Been totally shafted by the scheduling although I see Luke wood had flown back from Amsterdam. It’s a tournament that’s been totally compromised by random crappy ODI series. IF Lancs get through to finals day then it’s right in middle of the India ODI series so will be without livi, salt, wood, Buttler (not that I think of him as a Lancs player). I wonder if the ECBs baby the 16.4 will see such scheduling clashes. I doubt it.
  5. Once it becomes apparent that players in the dying embers of their contracts aren’t prepared to sign if they’ve got any value you cash in. Presumably the rovers hierarchy gambled they’d sign and once again look foolish in that they neither attempted to get a fee nor were able to get them to sign.
  6. Decent player but not irreplaceable. Messed him about and must admit I thought he’d stay once Mowbray left. I reckon his agent got in his ear, not the first won’t be the last. Not good enough for prem so will either be warming a bench or another shitty boro type club. It is another black mark against those running the club can’t get another academy graduate to sign then allowing them to go for gratis
  7. Bit of a shit schedule for me personally. Few of the grounds not been to or particularly like to go to are either midweek or clash with something else. The Boxing Day fixture is ludicrous especially considering Wigan are in the north east as well. I’m sure all 4 sets of supporters would prefer a local fixture. But from the clubs perspective I think it’s better avoiding newly promoted teams early on as they’re on a bounce and newly relegated teams as usually have superior players lingering on. Plus at home first up.
  8. As a lapsed nob end season ticket holder my mate was bombarded with emails, fliers, texts about taking advantage of the early bird offer before prices went up. They made it clear tickets would be very expensive afterwards. In the end even though he expects another nothing season it was too cheap for him to turn down. In fact with his 10 and 8 year old it’ll cost him about £250-300 per season. For a like for like comparison I reckon a lapsed adult season ticket holder at rovers in the Bburn end will have to pay the thick end of £700 for an adult and 2 kids. Rovers have done all they can though.
  9. They made a big point of encouraging early bird sales (for all) at about £150 cheaper because they’d be expensive. That’s why they sold their 12k ish before those prices came in.
  10. May I ask what has improved or how they are listening? I’d genuinely like to hold on to something positive but I’m not seeing much evidence of them either listening or anything being improved. It remains to be seen whether this dof structure is a positive so other than Swag removing himself from the process I can’t see anything positive.
  11. In a way I’m thrilled the dingles, noblot, nob end and even bratfud have sold between 13k and 15k each. It blows the apologists (some of my mates included) logic out the water that a grubby northern town in a cost of living crisis and pandemic and only hope to sell 7k. Price it right and bit of positivity goes a long way.
  12. More good news. Just lowe and Paul fielder and the swamp has been adequately drained. For now.
  13. The die hards will always renew. Regardless of cost, regardless of regime, regardless of quality. If necessary family holidays will go out of the window, weddings scheduled out of season, etc. I’m sure everyone knows at least one, might even be one. Lives that revolve around the fixture list. In a way the club shouldn’t be targeting them. Rovers have to engage with the floating fans. Those who will take or leave a game even for something as trivial as there’s a programme on the tele, it’s a bit cold or those who would otherwise if wasn’t so expensive but prioritise other things instead. The psychology of having a season ticket is huge it gets people off their backsides. Even under this crappy regime I really think if the price was right and a bit of excitement (jdt seems to fit the bill for many) then should be aiming for 12-15k season tickets. The fact we haven’t got anywhere near these numbers in my opinion is a poor reflection on how the club is run.
  14. I suppose the benefit of not having the ear of anyone at the club is you can judge things that actually happen rather than what they say might happen. Its actually quite infuriating that Swag knows the issues with season ticket pricing yet fucks it up AGAIN. He knows there’s issues with the ground yet it just slides further into disrepair. He knows refreshments aren’t up to par yet nothing changes. He knows communication with supporters is poor yet most of us are still treated like mushrooms. Perhaps the most telling thing reading between the lines he had no intention of removing Mowbray in the summer and only did so because Moggadon spat his dummy out. If swag knows all these things and still does nothing then what is the point of him. Talk is cheap and in the case of Swag very cheap indeed. He is a Poundland CEO pretending to do the job. Any future plans he’s drawn up should be taken as seriously as a 5 year old designing his own spaceship
  15. I know it’s concert season but this ground is ludicrous for a t20. Been a good few years since was here, knew it was small, but seems tiny. It’s
  16. 😂. I believe Matt comes from the Latin to observe a 12 year shit show with eyes open.
  17. Absolutely. He’s the only employee at rovers with credit in the bank having actually done something tangibly positive. If it is, as I suspect, from what I’ve read and seen in interviews he was the one who sorted Swag’s shitshow out and appointed somebody. But he’ll ultimately be judged by how well his appointment does not the speed and efficiency of the appointment. Under the new structure this will include calibre and success of the players he’s bought in. Tough gig. Hope they all do well but as with jdt I believe the Venkys will get in the way and ruin it.
  18. I would say on here the news of jdt has been met with almost universal positivity. I know I’m in the minority when I say I don’t share the optimism. He’s still in the very early stages of his managerial career so is an unknown quantity (can his achievements in Sweden be taken too seriously as doing well at Malmö seem to be the equivalent of succeeding at the old firm in Scotland, a 50:50). He comes with an unquestioned reputation as a player but I personally think it’ll go the way of Philip cocu at derby who arrived with a similar playing pedigree and to a similar fanfare there. Or if in hindsight this guy ultimately turns out to be the real deal as a manager then the Venkys will see to it that he’ll fail at rovers. After 12 years of the Venkys and the clowns they appoint how could I possibly believe anything will be any different. That said with all that in mind and before a signing has been made or a ball is kicked in anger, am I happy he’s here? Yes I am. He’s already been a breath of fresh air. He has charisma and he couldn’t be further removed from Moggadon in that respect. In the world of the Venkys Blackburn Rovers disaster is never far away.
  19. Good question. Did Swag realise he was totally out of his depth and call in the cavalry himself or was his shit show being observed by someone like Pasha who reported back and they acted round swag. Either way yet another saga that proves our £300k ceo is useless.
  20. Bonleh sold 13k, noblot 13k, nob end 12k. There’s not a chance in hell we’ll surpass those. No idea what Wigan/bpool nos are so might surpass those 2. We won’t get near 5 figure sales
  21. Swag has more u-turns than bojo. Funny how when you fuck thing up consistently you need to track back every time. Just get things right first time round a totally alien concept to swag.
  22. The cherry on top of the cake Yorkshire looked like they were going to sneak it and then didn’t. 🤣
  23. Another day another incredible finish to a game. Not quite the fireworks of Trent Bridge but Lancs at edgbaston had a very similar equation. Warwickshire favourites at lunch, draw favourite at tea, Lancs win.
