  1. He’s not giving up the 4-3-3 without a fight either. On top of a his lack of tactical nouse hopefully his stubbornness will be his undoing. He’s spoken before about missing his family I think it’s time the Tony Mowbray shaped anchor was cut loose and he can ride off into the sunset.
  2. Johnson doesn’t have the legs for midfield not needed with the other 2 either. Just hope it’s his 1 in 20 decent game.
  3. For the rest of the season it’s merely an exercise in who Mowbray can blame. Injuries, the players, the pitch, the officials, the opposition's budget, the opposition’s tactics, no fans, fan expectations, covid. Must be more.
  4. Doubt it. He’s sold this journey crap to the owners and ceo. I don’t recall him ever saying where the final destination of this journey is or how long he thinks it’ll take. Just meaningless sound bites designed to prevent the axe from falling on him long enough him to retire to Yarm an exceedingly wealthy man.
  5. Considering Rangers were put in the bottom division sure a lot of their fans would think it impossible to be 23 points clear of Celtic. Fair play. Can’t even recall that sort of gap in their 90s heyday with the likes of de boer, tugay, kanchelskis, flo, van Bronckhorst, Gazza, etc.
  6. It’s the lasting legacy of Kean and to a lesser extent Coyle. Mediocrity is accepted even celebrated simply for not being them.
  7. Take boro’s squad and rovers squad then swap the managers I’d feel very confident. As it is I fully expect a defeat and more waffle from Tonebola. Injuries 🥱. Defenders 🥱. Journey 🥱. The best result on Sunday isn’t the result but Moggasarus being put out to grass and Mrs M baking the mother of lemon drizzle cakes to feed the whole of Yarm.
  8. Things are definitely vastly better than those dark dark days. But I’ll say this if that porcine toad Kean had ever so much as insinuated that fan expectations are in some way unrealistic because 25 years ago we watched Shearer it would have been high on the list of his legendary bullshit. My stance is this if we lower our standards to merely better than it was before those who went before are still winning because we’ll never improve.
  9. Re that interview. He admits his preferred style didn’t work in league one before going direct. Closest I’ve heard him come to admitting personal errors. Still bemoans the state of the defence but fails to acknowledge he’s left it woefully light. Still peddling the IF we win 3 on the bounce myth that we’ll be back in the play off mix. We won’t. IF we win 3 we’ll probably still be 6 points off it’s as if he forgets although there’s a 9 points gap teams above us will likely win most of their games. That utter tripe he spouts about the gulf from league one really grates on me. It’s as if we were a Wycombe languishing in league 2 for decades. We had a championship squad lost no players, in fact improved it, spent one season down and came back up. Although he has a sense of humour referring to when big clubs trust him to bring on their players. The jewels in the crown of the Mogga CV Jack Stevens and Ryan Kent.
  10. When people have to constantly remind you how honourable they are and their values they probably don’t have either. That interview was a bizarre charm offensive on someone. Just not sure who. Probably the owners.
  11. Without playing I thought it was highly unlikely Mowbray would find a way of irritating me but that propaganda piece has done it.
  12. During the Venkys era I’ve only been happy with Lambert’s appointment at the outset. Obviously didn’t work out well but I do wonder what might have been if he had been given the same support from the owners Mowbray has been given. For both Mowbray and Bowyer it was just a relief at not seeing their predecessor in the dugout. Another similarity between their respective tenures. To be fair Mowbray has done better than I thought he would being a dinosaur on the scrap heap of football managers having failed at Celtic, boro and Coventry.
  13. This blind faith that Mowbray can suddenly sort out the defence mystifies me. He’s not only failed to achieve it at 4 years at Rovers but he’s failed to do it his entire managerial career. In fact his only real managerial success came in 2008 getting wba promoted and to put that in context Owen coyle has a more recent promotion to the premier league on his CV.
  14. Everything he does is to preserve himself as a highly paid manager of a football club with zero accountability or standards.
  15. Swansea won’t fancy the mud on a cold Tuesday night. Sadly they’ll still fancy it more than Rovers.
  16. Still life in this game. 72 feels like about 200 on this pitch.
  17. From the fitness coach that left (probably not to be replaced) to the grounds man to Lindsay Talbot to Mowbray to swag. I don’t think anyone employed at the club is up to par based on the events that unfold on a regular basis.
  18. Sharp is right but as well as writing it he also needs to challenge Mowbray on it. Mowbray has the easiest gig in football not accountable to the owners, ceo, fans or local media. Hopefully the worm is turning.
  19. Fortunately for Everton Mowbray has only got 4 months to scramble his head any longer that lad would be in trouble.
  20. When he leaves I think it’ll be like Gary Bowyer. Will shuffle off without much of a ripple. By the end bowyer annoyed the hell out of me with his we gave it a right good go after sitting back for 80 mins before going behind. Mowbray annoys me now with his let’s go again, journey and endless excuses. Both men were a stabilising influence, both men went past the limits of their capabilities, both men fairly boring individuals, both men can’t get the best out of what’s available to them, both men brought in some decent players but couldn’t get a tune out of them. The main difference for me is Mowbray by accident or design has engineered a scenario where he’s unsackable.
  21. I was thinking about the way the club is run off the pitch from Waggott down to the middle managers. Even this thread alone shines a light on the true incompetence of most employed there. The initial reason for someone starting this is when it emerged on social media about the sorry state of the weeds, etc, outside the blues bar...only after being shamed the club sprayed weed killer down and promised to sort out the general area. A month or so goes past the general area still a dump and some folk off here (defo recall chaddy doing it) contacted the club and finally something was done. Once again weeks, maybe months, before it became an issue folk were discussing the state of the pitch and what do the dummies at ewood do, nothing absolutely nothing. Not only nothing but hold extra training sessions on it. Can’t make their stupidity up. It’s like they’re incapable of 1 seeing the bloody obvious of what needs to be done and 2 doing something about it without being prompted by Joe public.
  22. Wasn’t there something iffy about his departure. I vaguely recall when he’d gone wasn’t allowed to disclose why. As with most people who have left under the Venkys all seemed to be cloak and dagger stuff with the lawyers in hot pursuit. Probably asked for a new lawn mower and was told to get his coat.
  23. I believe they relay the pitch at the end of every season. But the 28 years thing will be presumably referring to the whole system from under soil heating, to drainage, etc. Lets call it what it is though just another excuse out of Mowbray’s big book of ridiculous excuses
