  1. Too true, my all time hero, but it’s Bryan.
  2. Didn’t know that, indeed a very nice touch.
  3. His youngest son Anastasios was born in Blackburn, but never played for Rovers which I think is what the thread started as asking Baz.
  4. Given the fact that some clubs play the music by local artists, like Newcastle with Local Hero, Liverpool with You’ll never walk alone, and Everton with the theme from Z Cars, it’s a wonder we don’t play Juliet.
  5. The old stanchions, the ball could hit it and be back out so fast you would think it was never a goal. As an aside, why do commentators still say “It’s hit the woodwork” when goal posts and bat are made of aluminium?
  6. Alan Bradshaw? Faz was from Penwortham
  7. What an important result that was when you consider Charlton finished 1 point behind us in third place and missing promotion. It was the final match of the season. Our final home game of the season was a 4-1 win against Leyton Orient, we were without Duggie as he was helping England to beat Scotland at Hampden the same day, scoring Englands first goal in a 0-4 win.
  8. Aye a proper commentator unlike most of the dross we have to put up with these days.
  9. As a matter of interest how many local companies were contacted regarding shirt sponsorship and how much is it worth to Rovers. Does anybody on here know?
  10. Another masterpiece by the renowned Scottish architect Archibald Leitch
  11. As a smoker from the age of 16 to 70 I have total sympathy with all who try to stop. It is definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I tried patches, gum, mist spray, none worked for me, but never vaping, only because I’d seen too many quit cigs but get fixed onto vaping permanently. That was a personal choice and vaping is one method recommended by the NHS as an aid to stop smoking. I don’t think any method is 100% guaranteed to work, and are they all safe? That’s the $6400 question. I stopped using an NHS recommended product called Champix. It worked and I’ve been a smoke free zone for two years, but Champix has since been removed from the list because it has been found that it may cause cancer in certain people. A double edged sword then.
  12. Scored in the 97th minute added time by a good Lancashire Ref. COYB
  13. We’ll leave it then. I must search out the Catholic prayer room at Ibrox and the Church of Scotland prayer room at Parkhead.
  14. I’m sorry I don’t understand what rule you are asking me not to like. You are the one who said it’s for our Asian supporters, but it’s a multi faith prayer room, so exactly which faiths are you saying are allowed to use it. I will remind you that Asia is home to a multitude of different faiths. I certainly won’t go elsewhere on your say so by the way.
  15. That’s what I said it was. Just don’t see why I would have to remove my shoes to enter it.
  16. No it’s not just for Asian supporters, as can be seen by the title it.
  17. A smart move it include all fans especially the young ones from the whole community, but this is a reminder that it is still not totally inclusive. It’s described as a Multi Faith Prayer Room, so why do I have to remove my shoes. To enter a Mosque then of course, but surely not here.
  18. Too true, football is a game of confidence and ours has just been shot
  19. Lovely tribute to all those lost RIP
  20. Dialect can sometimes be a wonderful thing when you find yourself in foreign parts. Many years ago when working in Australia, I was filling up my car in an outback petrol station late at night and went into the shop to pay. There was an elderly gentleman behind me in the queue who overheard me talking to the shop assistant, and he said to me “ Nah then lad, where are you from”? England I replied. I know that but whereabouts? Lancashire I said I’m from Blackburn. I thought so, I’m from Oswaldtwistle he said. I said that must be true because you can say it. He was in his eighties and had emigrated in the 50’s as a £10 Pom, but had retained his dialect of which he was very proud.
  21. This time last year they were 5th and we were 15th. It’s a funny old game.
  22. I don’t trust the author
  23. Exactly. That’s where the fault lies in my opinion.
