  1. Pretty much got that nailed i think. Back 7 picks itself and Dack and Arma have to start in those positions. So only 2 places up for grabs are the wide positions, I'd start Elliot and BB as you've posted. Mercer is having a laugh with the home banker wind up post, it won't be an easy game, even with their current form.
  2. Yer, i do agree having a goal scorer has obviously benefitted us. We'll lose out on the transfer fee regardless though, which was the point.
  3. Newcastle have played a blinder there. If there is ever concrete premier league interest in him, he'll ask to leave us. He won't give up PL footy (and the wages) to stay with Moggas midtable Rovers. Also gives Newcastle the opportunity to buy him back at a significant knock down fee. Win - win for Newcastle. We lose either way. We won't be able to hold him here against his will, players and agents have the power to move if they want.
  4. It doesn't matter what Everton do or what Southampton do, it doesn't work at Blackburn Rovers. The reason is that Mowbray and his coaches (probably the players too) aren't good enough to set the team up in one of 3/4 different set ups effectively. Which is why often look like a disorganised mess during games.
  5. It should be coming to an end though. He can't break the glass ceiling of 7/8th place. His set ups and formations are confusing and rarely work and now we are chopping and changing between 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-2-2-2 (wtf is that formation all about?) It's mental. I see we reverted to the tried and failed false 9 bullshit again yesterday. There is no consistent plan and its leading to no consistency on the pitch. We need a change if we are to ever have a realistic chance of promotion.
  6. Had a load of stuff to do today, so missed the game and purposely didn't check the score until full time. No surprise we lost, getting close to the top 6 and could have made up some ground at least but as always, failed to take the opportunity. Standard Mowbray.
  7. Just seen that news come up. Seemed to follow a familiar pattern with assistants who aren't good enough for management. Early positive results followed by some poor form which they can't recover from and eventually get potted. I'm sure they expected to be around the automatics this season, so it will be interesting to see who they bring in.
  8. Permanent for a "nominal fee" according to the Everton website: https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2008105/king-signs-for-everton
  9. Seems like it was done to accommodate some journeyman from Plymouth. Its not gone down too well on twitter but some are saying there are some efl rules which have basically forced them to release him. Not sure if its squad size or finances that have dictated it.
  10. I see the once fabled Marcus Maddison has been allowed to leave Charlton on loan for Bolton. somethings not right with that bloke.
  11. Sharpe says we are done for the night
  12. Agreed but i was purely referring to transfers as it's deadline day.
  13. So we look pretty well set up for the rest of the season? 3 CB's + Ayala, not sure anywhere else needs urgent attention. I'm guessing that will be all for incomings today.
  14. Good to see we landed Pickering. Slightly annoying that we have to wait till next season before we can play him though.
  15. Be interesting to see how it works with the Everton loan and City one. Assuming neither would be allowed to join if they were to sit on the bench for the majority of the season. Pressure on Lenihan is no bad thing but I can't see us dropping him in favour of one of these 2. Back 3 formation going forward?
  16. Liverpool have agreed a £2m fee for PNE centre back Ben Davies, with Sepp Van Den Berg going on loan to PNE. Not sure if they would use that £2m to try and sign Kipre or if the loan signing of SVDB would be enough? With us linked with this man city lad, could leave Kipre at WBA after all.
  17. Gonna be embarrassing if we lose out to PNE on another centre back. Looks like a loan
  18. The 2 wins have been very welcome but we have been here before and until he actually gets us into that top 6 and at least puts up some form of a battle to stay there I'll just assume the standard win a few, lose a few cycle will continue as it has done in the past.
  19. Be a good move for Rovers and for Bennett. He's a very likable bloke, plenty of time for him on that score but he's another player who isn't good enough for a promotion chasing team. We have missed his versatility during a severe defensive injury crisis but we shouldn't be keeping him around for that alone.
  20. Davenport and Johnson out Downing and BB in
  21. It's totally believable, largely because we are abject for the first 75mins.
  22. This is a concern. All 3 would sign new contracts here,I have no doubts. In Mowbrays eyes, good lads who'll "do a job" but none of them are good enough for a team with promotion aspirations.
  23. I'd be happy to see them all leave in the summer when their contracts expire. I don't really rate any of them, Del has done OK at CB but is very injury prone. Evans has somehow managed to make 197 apps for us and I can't remember him being consistently decent at any point. He's had his moments but is now 30 and his injuries will just become even more regular. Bell hasn't been great since he joined. The issue is do we need to replace them? Del at CB, most definitely and Bell at LB too, purely on a numbers basis. Evans, not so much.
