  1. Tony Mowbray's Sunderland above us in the table as it stands.
  2. Because we're winning? It's not important ..... he said as much this week
  3. Chasing around up front in a 4-4-2 is not playing as a number 9. As an ex-winger myself I used to enjoy it.
  4. Take Brereton off and strengthen the midfield. Hedges maybe. Let Dolan and Thomas chase around up front.
  5. A winger whose forte is beating a man and crossing playing through the middle is Mowbray-esque,
  6. That’s a poor midfield, wouldn’t say boo to a goose. I wouldn’t pick Brereton on form and his obvious lack of interest. His mind is elsewhere. Having said that he’ll probably score a hat trick Or not
  7. Have you been to some of the away games? For me the non-performances have been the worst ever - and that's in 55 plus years of watching. At Coventry we had a big following and the away supporters usually enjoy themselves with a good old sing-song but even the lads there were stunned into silence
  8. Except when Sam Allardyce was at Ewood, eh Chaddy?
  9. Wasn't a decision expected today ?
  10. There's a good letter in the Times today from a Manchester resident pointing out that the owners of United have extracted billions from the club over the years without spending a penny on infrastructure, the ground, the training ground or the local community (sound familiar Venky's?) whereas the opposite is true of City where among many improvements to the immediate local area a vast swathe of the east side of Manchester has been revitalised by investment in infrastructure and regeneration.
  11. Con men always do
  12. The word project itself isn't fit for purpose; .Real Madrid started it years ago with their "project" to sign David Beckham, it's overused and become a cliche. It's basically a load of grandiose management manure to make fans think they actually know what they're doing. The transfer window and botched Brereton sale demonstrate clearly that our lot don't. Mowbray's "project" ran its course and now we're apparently at the beginning of another project. Hurrah!. Hey folks, we have a project, give us 5 years and after a journey to nowhere in mid-table we might be back where we started. If only we had a manager and/or management who doesn't do "projects" and we might actually get somewhere. Vincent Kompany doesn't do projects and he's not doing too badly, despite what misleading Burnley Express headlines say
  13. Was Kompany told that by the Burnley board? If that's the case he's doing a great job Tomasson has referred to "projects" several times. It looks like he's embraced the ethos. As fans we're tired of hearing it.
  14. Not sure why I respond to this drivel but "aligning myself with the Dingles" (que?) and "last throw of what dice"? Otherwise I agree, they're the Ferrari now and we're the Mini
  15. "He talks about a project all the time" Kompany doesn't use the word "project" once in that article. Did you actually read it? "Project" is a figment of the Burnley Express headline writer's imagination FYI @longsiders and / or @sympatheticclaret said in response to my question some time back that as far as they could recall they didn't think Kompany (unlike our manager) ever talked about a multi-year "project" He just came in, revamped the squad (and made money in the process) and got them flying at the top of the league in his first season @Mercer referred to the fantasy world you live in during the Wigan match thread and he's right.
  16. Did you read your link? Income €76.46m Expenditure €38.20m Overall balance+€38.26m Not sure where you're going with this because whichever way you look at it Burnley and Kompany have revamped their squad, assembled a Championship winning team and made a big profit in the process "Most managers" wouldn't be able to do that - and they didn't need a "project" either
  17. Various figures around Burnley total spent to date: £21.7m Burnley total received to date: £72.5m Burnley net transfer balance: £50.8m I project they'll be promoted and make a healthy profit
  18. Burnley 2-1. Good lad that Vincent Kompany. Never mentioned "project" once, so I'm told
  19. As I see it at the moment (may have missed some players out) Goalkeepers: Kaminski and Pears are a decent No 1 and No 2 Centre backs: Hyam is fine; S Wharton and Carter - jury out, still developing and prone to errors, Phillips in the wings; Ayala I'd let go. Ideally we could do with a new centre half Full backs: Brittain was good when he was fit, but how long is he out?; Pickering is OK but often struggles and probably needs replacing (Giles would have been fine). JRC can fill in but 1, possibly 2 full backs needed Midfield: Buckley, Travis, JRC have their good days but lack pace and physical presence. A Wharton and Garrett still works in progress. Morton can go back. At least 2 strong, experienced players required to strengthen the team Forwards: Problem area. Gallagher and Vale clearly never going to cut it. Brereton is leaving and probably should be dropped permanently. Dack struggling to regain his old form. Thomas - early days and he's on loan. Do we wonder why we struggle to score goals? We're at least 2 and possibly 3 strikers short So to my mind if we were genuinely going to challenge for promotion that's at least 6 and possibly 8 players that we should have been looking at in January Wigan signed 8 in the window apparently - why couldn't we?
  20. We were down to 5,000 or so in the 1980s.
  21. The league is finished and you have to hope we don't sink too near the bottom but we have an exciting cup tie at Leicester in prospect and you have to hope the players will rise to the occasion like they did at West Ham
  22. One by one people drift away, disillusioned, and in the end they don't come back. I don't understand why fans think this is Ok and will lead to change at the club
