  1. Based on figures which you have no idea are correct. Keep up the good work
  2. It wasn't anything like £15,000 a week more, as I was reliably informed
  3. Doesn't matter who we're playing or where England are always about 50-3 Crawley still there solid as a rock on 7
  4. Sounds like Hyam has been on the backburner for a while but has come to the surface because all our other better options - the Vans etc - have closed. Someone explain why we're forking out £2.5m for a like for like replacement for Lenihan (who is possibly not as good) when we could have kept Lenihan if we'd paid him a bit more and would have cost us over the course of his new lengthy contract something like £2.5m? The figures are from an expert quoting Waggott - so they need to be treated with caution
  5. Blackburn - Warrington exactly one hour on the train with change at Preston.
  6. So you believe what Waggott says. Count yourself in a minority of one
  7. This is it. Why let Lenihan leave for free because of "wages" and then pay £2.5m for a replacement who might be no better? It doesn't make sense
  8. There's always White Van Man.... cheap and plenty available
  9. Benjamin Franklin said: “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail” and as the old British army adage goes: “Proper preparation and planning prevents poor performance" Someone should tell Waggott Where is there any sign of Rovers preparing to make a success of this transfer window?
  10. I posted several hundred pages back that it would simpler and cheaper in the long run to give proven Championship performers such as Rothwell, Nyambe and Lenihan much improved deals that may bust our pay structure than go through this interminable and probably ultimately fruitless process of trying to sign replacements. As it is we've let these players go and although Brittain looks promising the squad is weaker overall than last season never mind strengthened
  11. Gillingham, MK Dons, Morecambe, Newport in the hat, and we get West Ham away Horrible draw. That's us out.
  12. Rovers have dropped their interest in both Van Den Berg and Van Hecke I'm hearing and have switched their sights to Van Halen who could rock up as early as tomorrow. Have I told you lately that Van Morrison is available too?
  13. Anyway, any news on the 5 incoming new players -signing today or tomorrow?
  14. League 2 player or lower. There's a few lads in that Rovers team last night who aren't good enough for the Championship
  15. Maurice Whittle, couldn't remember his first name. Roberts lived on Shadsworth - vague memories of going to a party at his house!
  16. Circa 110 miles Burnley to Shrewsbury; 36miles Blackburn to Bradford, nearly 3 times farther. Pretty good for a small town in Yarkshire
  17. Good win, have to say I didn’t expect it. I think Hughes got it wrong and should have pummelled the rovers defence with lots of high balls into box but there you go. Good to be in the draw again after the Mowbray years here’s hoping for a tasty home tie and something for the fans to look forward to
  18. Gnarled old veteran Cook notches against the choir boys. Bet he's loving it
  19. Hoilett in the last midweek game Chapman and Smallwood tonight We know who's going to score It's the immutable law of the ex.
  20. And another day wears on with no sign of progress The clock's ticking.....
  21. Ian (?) Kendall in that Rovers team - a star of the Blackburn schoolboys side and tipped to go all the way but never progressed at a professional level and was eventually released. I saw him some years later on the Ewood terraces supporting Rovers. Ronnie Moran I presume in the Liverpool team
  22. As a manager/coach you are responsible for results so anyone worth their salt would want a final say over transfer targets and the right to veto any player you didn't consider good enough or who might not fit in. It's like giving a builder a load of shoddy materials or a top-class chef ingredients that aren't up to scratch and expecting them to make a good job of it - they'd point-blank refuse to do it. Tomasson can easily walk away in a few months with Rovers struggling near the bottom and say the players aren't good enough thus absolving himself of any blame! Brilliant for him -no wonder he's looked so happy since he turned up at Ewood.
