  1. I find that astonishing to be honest. No wonder Tomasson didn't get the Hibs job
  2. No idea but the notion that no one at the club should talk to the media doesn't strike me as a good way of communicating with fans Chaddy also said press should stop asking the head coach or manager awkward questions. Isn't that the media's job?
  3. Rovers news blackout in the age of social media and citizens journalism Should work well
  4. You have to wonder whether Tomasson will eventually walk away if the status quo persists to the end of the transfer window. This cannot be what he signed up for or was promised - and will give him the perfect excuse to quit if form and results continue to get worse as the season goes on
  5. He got rave reviews at Cardiff and my Boro-supporting mate says he'sthe best left back they've had in years and are hoping they sign him. Giles was messed around by Mowbray, in fairness. The lad's a good player and an upgrade on our players in that position
  6. The word will be out among the clubs about what Rovers can or can’t pay and the messy way we do our business. It seems to me that many clubs won’t deal with us or even offer us players knowing we’re not even in the market. It would certainly reduce the pool of players we can potentially sign and probably explains why we’ve only signed lower league players so far
  7. Davenport was better than Szmodics. And we wouldn't have wasted £2m
  8. I remember Billy Wilson's debut as a young lad (him and me). Mike England passed to him from the kickoff to settle his nerves and he did a complete miskick. He got better after that, became a solid pro and a good player for Rovers
  9. Colin Bell, Bobby Kerr, Alec Lindsay.....top class players all discovered by "little" Bury.
  10. Hunter and Ken Knighton joined Rovers that summer IIRC - two excellent signings and hard as nails. What a difference they'd make to our current team
  11. The centre half who dropped out injured the morning of a match after cricking his neck while washing his hair? Furphy revamped the whole squad because it needed it. We're almost at that stage now
  12. Imagine real football men such as Shankly or Cloughie using wyscout 😁
  13. The problem with long term projects is they can sometimes go awry. Last January was a case in point - second place in the league and threatening promotion was never part of the project. The Rovers hierarchy soon got the project back on track though and by April they could rest easy knowing their sinecures were safe
  14. So now we have another "project" Mowbray was project No 1 from 2017-22 Tomasson is project No 2 from 2022 - ? The good thing about "projects" for CEOs is they provide secure, well paid employment over the long term No wonder Waggott loves his projects
  15. Szmodics is an alarm bell to the calibre of player we're looking at and the market we're shopping in. He's an example of a player who's no better than a whole number of very average midfield players who we've been lumbered with over the past few years. As has been pointed out many times if you sign lower league players that's ultimately where you'll end up The worry for me is that after the new manager bounce we've reverted to exactly the same form of the end of last season with no sign that Tomasson is stamping his own mark on the team. At the moment the style of play is just a continuation of Mowbray's regime. Does he have any ideas of his own because at the moment I can't see any?
  16. Don't know why you posted that. Travis had a good game at Reading - with Brittain just about the only players who did.
  17. Well there it is. If that happens you have to ask why we weren't in the running to get him? Wages, or lack of interest? It can hardly be the latter- he was a key player last season
  18. This was one of the main gripes of the Mowbray era, Sam's still being picked in that position but the new manager doesn't get criticism for it.
  19. I know thanks. WUSC There's another
  20. The new manager got alot of plaudits for the the good start to the season, so he has to take some brickbats now This is his team and the past 2 games have been poor, to say the least
  21. Relegation thread ready to go to press....just waiting for the editor's go-ahead
  22. Szmodics looks what he is ..... a third division player. And we paid about £2m for him? The Posh chairman knows his stuff
  23. Hangover from the Mowbray era? Either way, we have a new manager now and he needs to act
  24. It is actually Back to the match. We're 3rd in a 2-horse race. Give me the nod and I'll start the relegation thread.
