At the risk of sounding Chaddy-esque I think we have to offer a warm welcome to the new manager. He wouldn't be most people's choice, and his track record is mixed to say the least, but we all want the team to do well and for that to happen we have to wish Ismael all the best. It will soon be easy to judge whether he is going to be a success of failure at Ewood: this isn't about next season or the season after, it's about the here and now. Rovers are in a playoff place and his job is to keep us there to the end of the season. If he can do that, then he'll deserve plaudits. If we fall away badly from our present position he'll deserve the brickbats Over to you Ismael.
-
Or Hull, or Coventry, or West Brom, or Plymouth too apparently.... all of which he applied for and they will have been aware of. Eustace was so desperate to get away from Ewood it seems he will have gone anywhere. Stop making excuses for the club's rotten management
-
Crux of it and has been said many times before. They knew Eustace was leaving months ago and should have had the new manager sorted and announced within 7 days of him going. “Due diligence” is management speak for weakness and indecision
-
There was a real weirdo fanboy - turned out to be "plastics" - who jumped on any criticism of Keith Andrews. The joke was it the player's mum, or even Andrews himself. Wouldn't be a surprise if Ismael or one of his close associates is doing the same
-
I remember Braddock - he/she hadn't a clue. There's always someone who will defend the indefensible. Keep up the good work
-
There was someone who posted in defence of Andrews every time he was criticised (which was alot - he wasn't a popular player). They didn't appear to post on any other subject and stopped posting when Andrews eventually left the club.

England got lucky against both France and Scotland - they could not have complained if they lost either. Thrilling games to watch but England could easily be sitting on nul points. Scotland to beat Wales and Wales then end their losing streak against England? Would be straight out of the Rovers playbook that one
-
This is like all the transfer windows where all the business is done in the last 12 hours Stand by for the new manager to be named just before the last game of the season in April
-
Could be Ismael himself of course. Has been known - remember Keith Andrews?
-
Wagner always struck me as a thoughtful, intelligent, composed coach whose teams played good football and far more likely to get a tune out of this team than Ismael. Not the best appointment they could make, but certainly not the worst
-
Horrible result and a wake-up call for those dreaming of a top 6 finish. Teams pushing for promotion don't capitulate like that. The Lowe interregnum is over - time for a decision on the manager's job.
-
What are the brains trust at Ewood going to do now? They were desperately hoping for a win today so they could give the job to Lowe and kick the managerial can down the road to summer Now the wheels have come off and the pressure is on to make a decision

Wolves are a decent side with some very good players. Cunha (sp?) is outstanding and will surely move on for big money. They shouldn’t be struggling down the bottom Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester look certs got the drop for me. Watched a bit of the Leicester game last night - they’re in a terrible mess and van Nistelrooy is clearly a poor appointment. Promoted teams coming straight back down points to a widening gulf between the top 2 divisions and is not healthy for the game. Heaven forbid if this Rovers team does get promoted: as it stands and without significant investment it might struggle to win one game.
-
Frederiksen (sp?) is a new one on me but at this point I'd take anyone over Karanke It's interesting that F's name has tightened in the betting but as has been said it's a very tight and niche market and it doesn't need much - even chatter on a football messageboard - to affect the odds. In that spirit then I'd like to propose Gareth Southgate as the next Rovers manager. See you many "likes" and replies it gets and see whether his name suddenly appears in the betting So off we go: Southgate for Rovers. What do you think?
-
Waggott's domicile is somewhere down south and the club secretary works from home in Brighton so interviewing candidates in London isn't surprising as the new manager will probably live there.

Dyche lives in Northants

That's a managerial motley crew if ever I saw one ....... O'Neil would be OK but not one of them stands out and to be honest I'd rather we stuck with Lowe to the end of the season and make a decision in the summer (after the season has started and the transfer window has shut of course) than appoint any of them for the sake of it. I've missed pages on this thread but I assume Cooper is not in the running. Of those out of work he's the only one I'd welcome given his very good track record in this division.

Ismael doesn't seem to have stayed anywhere very long including his last job at Watford when he lasted barely 10 months before getting the boot following a run of 1 win in 10 league games Mediocre, desperate for a job, and quite likely cheap. Ticks all of Steve's boxes,
-
At the risk of repeating myself, his departure could never be a “surprise”, as you stated for the many reasons, that are well known and are well documented. The potential replacements will have changed over the months naturally but a club that knew its manager could leave at any time would have been constantly up to speed on the names they would want to approach. This seems to be going round in circles but it can’t be denied that it’s another example of a dithering and dysfunctional “management”. And yes I am pleasantly surprised at the league position but after watching 10 games and 10 defeats this season - that’s 0 points out of 30 - you might understand my cynicism
-
The 2 wins since he left are irrelevant. The point is, the lack of decision making provides another example of the shoddy way the club is run. Most clubs would have this sorted out in days - especially as his likely departure was signalled months ago. My reply was to the erroneous statement that Eustace leaving “took the club by surprise” when it clearly could not have been. Your post doesn’t make sense
-
Irrelevant to the previous post
-
Come orf it! He’s been looking to leave since last summer; he’s applied for at least 3 jobs; it’s been on the cards for months; why do you think it took them by surprise when he finally received an offer and he told them he wants to go? Rovers should have their targets lined up and been approaching them as soon as Derby made their interest known. A deal should be tied up by now.
-
My first question to Waggott would always be: who is the next manager? Succession planning is vital for any club. They have always to be one step ahead of the game because it’s always changing It’s clear the dolts at Ewood had no plan in place in the event of the manager leaving - which it’s been clear for months he’s wanted to do Just another example of how badly the club is run. A new manager should be in place by now
