  1. Were you playing in the band on the Titanic as it went down?
  2. Screw the LET ban and the niceties. Jackson should give the team and the club a rollicking in his match analysis (assume he’s doing one). If the club doesn’t like it, tough. Home truths need to be said
  3. 2-1 final. All the worst fears about this manager and this squad are being realised. Neither are good enough. Had the feeling a few times over the decades and this season has relegation written all over it. It’s all so sad and even at my age, it’s very upsetting
  4. Decent amateurs wouldn't make those mistakes Den.
  5. Swansea 2-1. This team, under this manager, is going to get relegated.
  6. Why would any CEO or club award a 3.5 year contract to a manager with Ismael's dismal record (Barnsley excepted where even there he reaped the reward of the previous manager's work) ? Or even employ him at all? He's clearly a dud and the only conclusion, stated by others previously, is that he was available and cheap By the end of the season in May he'll have been at Rovers about 15 months, which will be his longest of any club in his managerial career. And will he be sacked if he leads us to relegation - of course he won't
  7. Too close for comfort in the end but it's nice to beat that lot, especially on their home soil
  8. Of course. Rovers lose and you win and Rovers win you’re happy too.
  9. Agree Ismael has to prove he is flexible and show he can make the team play well and win games more than one way
  10. The Blades were my surefire bet for promotion this season - I think I even had them winning the league. Shows how much I know 😄 Selles has turned wine into water and was obviously a poor appointment but Wilder's return (again) is bizarre and is a poor reflection on the Sheff Utd owners
  11. Our 2 wins have been away from home - does that tell us something about the way Ismael has set the team up and wants Rovers to play? Until this new team of misfits and poundshop bargains can show it can win at home too I see yesterday as a welcome 3 points in what is going to be a long hard battle to stay in this division this season.
  12. Ismael is part of the problem in that, like most of the players, he isn't very good He made it a bit of name for himself at Barnsley but, as been pointed out, he benefited there from the good work done by the previous manager. In his 14 year managerial / coaching career he's been at 10 clubs. He's never been anywhere longer than 2 seasons Will he walk or will he be sacked? Either way, he's unlikely to be here very long And so it goes on, lurching from one crisis to another
  13. That’s a team of greenhorns and the not good enough. This window has ensured that not only are we in danger of getting relegated it’s quite possible that we’ll finish bottom
  14. Thanks for your post The above sentence is the most alarming. There are many villains responsible for Rovers' demise over the past 15 years but to say Gestede is the worst of the lot is a truly damning statement of the current shambles at Ewood. The question is, what is he trying to achieve and why? If it's a pure ego trip on his part then he needs to be exposed and forced out. Don't ask me how
  15. Guehi deal called off because Palace couldn’t find a replacement So where’s the replacement for Hyam?
  16. Brittain, Baath, Travis, Hyam, Weimann - the heart has been ripped out of the club. Relegation a near certainty in my book. Bet placed
  17. Another experienced player who won’t be replaced Wow that’s hard to understand
  18. Some serious problems in 2023-24 but mostly the usual bumps and scrapes over an 8 -year pro career Isak's a special player and although Rovers fans like to think so Wharton isn't at the same level. Would Liverpool take a big money risk on him? I don't think so
  19. Here's a gem from August 1977. Name them
  20. Liverpool won't pay big money for an injury prone player. No one would. Wharton has alot to prove - not least his fitness and the weaknesses in his game before he gets the "big" move he apparently wants.
  21. We went to this one last year - Rovers were unlucky to lose to a debatable penalty - and are thinking about it again But really what is the point? The team is weaker than last season, the manager looks like he is a dud, and the thought of another long journey home after another depressing defeat is too awful to contemplate Life is short and some of us haven’t long left. Time is better spent tidying up the garden, doing the chores, watching some local cricket, than supporting a bunch of no hopers. For a lifelong fan, I never thought it would come to this
  22. Poor track record and his club’s fans not impressed and glad to take the money. Another gamble along with all the other new boys by the look it. He might come good but you have to say it’s highly unlikely
  23. The "potential" was there but he never quite did it. Often in the right position but couldn't quite get the finishing touch or missed the target. League Cup game at Stamford Bridge I went to a couple of seasons ago: through on goal early in the second half and put the ball wide when it looked easier to score and didn't even test the keeper. Summed him up for me: Not quite good enough
  24. Leonard is another Academy player who wasn't quite good enough to make the Championship grade. Hope he makes a success of it at Posh and if he can steer clear of injury he could score alot of goals for them Also hope we've got a sell-on clause, because another club might take a punt on him in a few years The clearout continues and it might not be a bad thing - some of these fringe players needed to move on The question is whether the new boys are any better.
