  1. As the saying goes, a stopped clock is right twice a day Nixon's scattergun approach means one or two of his fliers will hit the target but most of the time he's churning out clickbait to keep food on the table Best approach is not to treat his stories with a pinch of salt but a whole mine of the stuff
  2. They’re direct quotes from him.
  3. Dolan in the Times article on Friday refers to us several times as "Blackburn", not Rovers. He doesn't understand this club Sell
  4. The cash shortfall probably partly explains the decision to shut the women's section The sales of Dolan and Brittain should just about cover the funding gap Either way it's clear there's little or no money to spend on players this summer In other words, nothing has changed
  5. Agree with the above The shocking and unwelcome demise of the women's team shows the accountants are in charge at Ewood and that spending this summer will be minimal.
  6. The referee clearly made a mistake over the Villa "goal", but making a formal complaint reflects badly on Villa and shows a lack of class. Rather like their obnoxious fans
  7. Biggest disappointment of the day was Forest's failure to beat Chelsea. Forest have had a wonderful season and no one likes Chelsea. Spuds revert to type after their lucky Europa win - the manager will be gone soon. No one likes them either. Glad it's all over. Monotonous, ;pointless league enlivened this season only by Forest's unexpected success.
  8. No interest whatsoever. I watched tonight’s game out of curiosity with 2 English clubs involved but it was even worse than I expected. That’s it for with football for me. Our local cricket club needs help and that’s where I’ll be for the next few months until Rovers kick off another season of dashed hopes and ultimate disappointment
  9. Rubbish game, rubbish goal, rubbish result. Two clubs it’s difficult to like but I’d rather a dislikeable northern club beat a dislikeable southern one. The football season drags on and on, it’s far too long. Time for cricket.
  10. Horrible, short-sighted decision and a sign of the penny pinching things to come this summer with regards to transfer dealings for the men's squad
  11. Go back to the old European Cup, European Cup-winners Cup and Uefa Cup All 3 of them prestigious knockout competitions with no leagues Won't happen of course because TV money needs more games and TV money talks
  12. Disappointing to see Forest lose form and fall away in the final games. They've had an excellent season and I'd dearly love them to make the CL instead of Chelsea and Villa, particularly Chelsea. Nobody likes them. Three "big" northern clubs going up is good will make the PL better balanced next season. Shame none of the London clubs are going down. There's too many in the top flight. Target for next season any of the London clubs and/or Bournemouth, Brighton for relegation - to be replaced by more north of England clubs of course
  13. Of course he’s slowing down. He’s 33, it’s only natural and to be expected of a player that age. It’s not criticism of him, just the reality. If you’d played the game you’d know this. I’d keep him but only as a substitute with the occasional start.
  14. Righty-ho It is my humble opinion that Brittain has had an outstanding season and should be in the top 3 if not the winner Apologies if this does not chime with yours
  15. Brittain not even in the top 3 - something wrong surely? Congrats to Tronstad though - lynchpin of the team. Simon will be pleased
  16. The idea is for another season-long loan at Rovers to sort himself out. Why would a “journeyman” (according to the experts) get a contract in Saudi?
  17. He's not going to get a game at Forest. We've given him a chance to save his career. He has ability - I'd look to keep him but with the proviso he gets his head down and starts working
  18. Markanday and Garrett aren't Championship level players, and there has to be a question mark over Leonard too. At 21 he needs to start delivering I like JRC but his best football was a brief spell under Tomasson and he's never pinned down a defined role. Agree keep Buckley and Sanderson and jettison Woodrow, Forshaw, Hedges, Vale and possibly Weimann though he scores goals and has much to offer even though he's ageing. I'd also listed to offers for Gueye. Dennis has talent. I'd sit down and tell him he's in last chance saloon with us and some home truths about his attitude and what he wants to do with his career.
  19. An average squad did better than expected and we were spared at least the trauma of a relegation battle but it was the usual mixture of hope, despair and, ultimately, frustration at another opportunity lost. In the end it's another season gone and a return to the Premier League seems as far away as ever. It's sad because for older supporters who are running out of time and haven't got long left, it would mean so much.
  20. There's alot of revisionism on Dolan here. He's a flawed player with an average scoring record and, like all players, is replaceable. I'd rather he stayed but won't be shedding any tears if he goes.
  21. Dolan's upturn in form has coincided very neatly with his contract talks this summer - or is that a cynical view? He's no doubt played well the last few games but dearie me, he's had some real stinkers this season, including a few that I've seen, and I'm sure if you look back on the thread over the course of the season there would have been plenty of fans calling for him to be sold. Have to say I'm ambivalent whether he stays or not but on the basis that he might finally be emerging into a half decent Championship player and is unlikely to be replaced were he to leave, then you have to hope he and the club can come to an agreement.
  22. ☹️ That's that then. I'm glad we couldn't get tickets for Bramall Lane now
  23. Manchester City would be the perfect move for Wharton. Guardiola’s precision pass and move game is made for him, though he would have to work a lot harder than he does at present. Pep is a fan and City will be busy in the transfer market this summer so it could happen sooner rather than later
  24. Proud's the wrong word IMO after all the defeats and abject performances this season but yes, it has to be acknowledged we've done well to be in contention from where we were 5 games ago
