  1. Of course. There's no other measure, and by that measure England is a failing football nation Look at our record against France, Germany, Italy, Spain. It's pathetic. Even when we at last got to a final, after more than 55 long years, in our own national stadium, we managed to blow it And that was against an Italy side that 6 months later that failed to qualify for the World Cup The perception of England from abroad is irrelevant until we start winning trophies
  2. Kane was top class as usual and gets better with age. The second goal, in which he outmuscled and outmanouevred the Italian centre half, was a masterclass in centre forward play. England so lucky to have him. Grealish is the big disappointment for me. So much ability, he should be a regular pick now
  3. From the first ball of the match that was a shit performance from England. Embarrassing to watch and made ourselves a laughing stock. Following on from the Ashes failure we could now fail to qualify for the qualifying stages of the World Cup. Butler should resign.
  4. The club (Maggott) has always stated that it doesn't respond to speculation or rumours on transfers so don't expect to hear anything on this either. Not right of course, because fans deserve to be kept informed, but that's the way he operates.
  5. Odd post We’ve been terrible in many games and “nice football” doesn’t entitlle anyone to win football matches QPR were dire, one of the worst teams I’ve seen in the Championship. Today was a welcome win but the team’s well documented problems remain
  6. Hill had an excellent game at Coventry in midweek though I still prefer Brittain at right back. The new goalkeeper didn't do much wrong either
  7. Very welcome and confidence-boosting win after a terrible run but goodness me, QPR were poor and look destined for the drop. I hope no one gets carried away - this isn't the start of a charge up the table
  8. Can Ennis trip over a blade of grass and injure himself in the last 20 minutes?
  9. Good player but not as good as Brittain.
  10. We'd be disappointed to let those first 3 goals in. Where are the defenders? Ainsworth will be out of the door soon
  11. Two soft goals but in our position we'll take them. QPR look certain for the drop on this form. Can we somehow manage to blow this from here?
  12. Blimey, I didn't realise QPR were so bad they'd let Dolan score
  13. Can you have a relegation 6 pointer in October? Normally no, but we're so poor and struggling that it feels like it. Would normally be at Loftus Road today and have seen us win there a few times. Hope it's not an omen
  14. Have to admit I hadn't thought of that..... try to deliberately lose games so he gets the boot and ends his Ewood agony.
  15. Moran and Brittain - 2 of our better players at Coventry - dropped, which I find hard to understand Dolan leading the "attack". The coach does have a sense of humour
  16. Get your retaliation in first!
  17. Thanks for that. Super player, lovely to watch- shame he wasn't at Rovers longer. Didn't he have a row with Souness? He wouldn't be the first. Met him after a game - a really nice guy. The talent in that Rovers team compared to now. Makes you weep
  18. Mark Hughes sacked by Bradford - hope he’s still available when Tomasson leaves. On the way home after a depressing night. We played well for 20 minutes at the end of the first half but the rest was forgettable and the late goal entirely predictable Rovers fans few in number at the Ricoh and subdued most of the time. It’s going to be a long hard winter
  19. That was a relegation team I saw at the Ricoh tonight - and it wasn’t Coventry We were basically a bunch of midfield players and defenders passing the ball amongst themselves. Apart from a brief period in the first half the goal threat was nil and all Coventry had to do was sit back and wait until we lost the ball. The match could have gone on all night and we’d never have scored. A lack of goals and giving away soft late goals is classic relegation form If it wasn’t apparent already we’re in trouble
  20. View from the Ricoh is we were very good that half but it’s a strange looking team that doesn’t have a recognised striker. Not many Rovers fans here sadly
  21. To be fair, I played with injury niggles for years and I am certainly paying the price now. Knees, back, shoulder, neck are all painful because of injuries sustained 40 years ago. I don't regret it because I loved playing and didn't want to miss a match but it comes back to haunt you later in life
  22. I'm a bit of an albatross as far as watching Rovers is concerned - we very rarely win - so I'm hoping to break the sequence tomorrow. We were awful at Coventry last season during the poor run early in Tomasson's tenure and to be honest I'm not expecting much different tomorrow. Fingers crossed - we need the points
  23. The US team captain was as much use as an empty tea caddy by supporting the caddie's behaviour.
  24. Should never have sold Kaminski
  25. Missed the game yesterday and I haven’t seen the quote but apparently Maggott said after the Leicester game that the aim this season is to avoid relegation. So there you have it……from promotion contenders to relegation candidates in 5 months. If we do somehow stay up no doubt Maggott will declare the season a “success” and seek a bonus on top of his £300k salary. This is how these people work
