Based on what I think we need as a minimum. The squad is still very, very short. We will see tomorrow night a stretched squad despite no injures. Couple of wingers, full back on Most should be permanent signings. The money should be there. And such a big percentage of a small squad is only contracted short term. At least 3 or 4 buys. And no, I dont have any faith whatsoever in what we need happening. Why would I with Venkys as owners and Waggott and Suhail running the show beneath with a lovely mixture of incompetence and no money. I suspect if you do then youve been under a rock for 14 years.

I might be wrong but with the phrase "2 or 3" I would like to think is just a figure of speech. That being said, I have no faith in us getting what we need. A big problem is lack of depth, I think we need at least 6 and I dont think we will get that many. Also obviously we have a big lack of quality in a number of areas. I dont have faith that it will be fixed working with such a small budget. You cant sell such important players and spend so little and expect to have enough quality. Another big problem is that we dont have a layer of longer term players. A number of our skeletal squad who will likely play lots between them are only contracted for a season. We need to buy at least a few more players contracted beyond next year. Players who could potentially appreciate in value. That seems like a luxury considering the budget cuts that I dont have faith in us solving.

The we need to replace x and y from last year is a flawed argument, it would only work if the squad was sufficient last year and it clearly wasnt. So yes, you might not think that we need to replace those players directly. But we need more than 4 to fill the various holes in our squad. One senior (poor) keeper, one senior right back, one senior left back, only 3 senior centre mids and we need a couple of wingers. So 6, minimum. Not a case of replacing sub par players on a like for like basis, although Moran for example did play a lot of games. But a case of looking how thin we are across the team really.

The decision to make Suhail as head of commercial is bizarre. Waggott is a slimeball but at least people know who he is, they know his face and he is contactable. Suhail hides in the shadows.

I think the most obvious 2 in terms of leaders would be Batth and McFadzean but neither will likely play that much. Giving an opinion on a captain is more difficult than just say which players we rate/would pick etc. But I dont see what boxes Hyam ticks. He seems quiet which is fine, he certainly doesnt have an aura of leadership. He also has shown negative signs when the going gets tough, bickering with fans, moaning about booing, and crucially his performances declined when he became captain. I also think as the default captain, it is a big statement to take it from Travis.

So how do you then know that he should be captain? Weve also won our last 3 season openers I think, all at home. It wouldnt be progress to draw. Some players thrive with the armband, some struggle. He falls into the latter. He also doesnt to me show any signs of a good captain. Can be a good player at this level on his day, not a captain though. Still to see any reasoning behind choosing him.

They were on twitter underneath the initial rumours. I wouldnt be able to find them so feel free not to believe me although you have no interest in the the opinions of fans anyway. Drommel doesnt seem to have the same positive reputation that De Lange did. Go Ahead Eagles fans all rated him highly, Ajax fans wanted him to join and he came off the back of 2 regular and positive seasons. Drommel hasnt played much and received some ridicule on social media. But he does have some credentials, hes at a good age and hes had 5 seasons prior to the last one of regular Dutch league experience at good clubs. But if he is a main target now weve messed up De Lange, why are we pissing around trying to loan him, its not acceptable considering how small a fee would be relative to the money brought in. The Szmodics situation is for some reason being turned into fans moaning, which some posters love to spin. Ultimately our transfer business shouldnt be reliant on him staying or going, thats the key issue. Im guessing those same posters think that Eustace is just moaning by mentioning that it needs sorted in two successive interviews. As touched on too regarding the sponsor, if we have found a better deal then fantastic. Seemingly its the classless way its been dealt with that is an issue, but thats to be expected with our club sadly.

Why would you want him as captain?

The Wharton fee would be pure profit, the Raya sell on would be pure profit, Gallagher had run down his initial deal so that would be pure profit, Ennis was free so pure profit, and Szmodics' amortised value would be £1m if he signed a 4 year deal or £666k if it was a 3 year deal, so considerable further profit to come. We are well beyond the point of needing to worry about FFP at the moment.

Is that a case of you expecting Eustace to appoint Hyam. He is a decent Championship defender on his day, and probably got a bit too much stick at times. But he certainly is not a leader. Has to be Travis.

Yes. If I was willing to continue to own a Championship club, then I would have to accept that losses are par for the course. If I didnt, I would look to sell. You are empathising but have regularly shown that you dont understand what empathy is.

I can't grasp how anyone can empathise with the cunts that own us. Their level of interest is clear. None in the health of the club on the pitch and everything Owning a Championship football club means that you will lose some money. If thats not something you will do, sell. But in the last year they have gone well beyond offsetting losses. And it now leaves us with no real gold to sell going forward. You have to invest to try and then profit which can then be offset against losses. Previous losses werent a result of any ambition.
