  1. I think you are sadly not factoring in Venkys who have never allowed a manager to reinvest a big sale on half of a new team as you imply. We aren't run normally, big sales are taken out of managements hands, and when a big sale is actually made, it tends to have to help to prop the club up because we keep allowing assets to leave for free. Not 100% sure, maybe Rochina?
  2. With seemingly scope for a bit of change at Sky with genuinely good pundits/hosts like Souness and Stelling leaving, lets hope the likes of Martin Tyler and Jamie Redknapp follow suit.
  3. Selling our best youngster and midfielder or our best keeper will really get him keen to stay! If even Venkys let it be reinvested which history suggests wouldnt be the case. Every time a sell on fee has been activated, it has gone to running costs.
  4. Massively is a stretch, he will improve on last seasons total by a maximum of 2 points, but we definitely want to keep him. Question is, how do we convince him with more budget cuts?
  5. It is hard not to have the opinion that Hirst was a big failure here, hence why he was gone in January. Be pedantic all you side, I have said that he has failed twice to bring in a competent striker and I don't think anyone can argue with that.
  6. Transfers obviously aren't simple, but that isn't relevant. People are paid considerable amounts to perform that important role and are judged on the players they do and don't bring in. Broughton fucked up.
  7. Hirst didn't look a great choice to me and many others just on the back of half a decent season at a lower level, but either way, he clearly wasn't anywhere good enough, so the deal was a failure. He also failed in January, the whys and why nots are not really relevant in judging that, excuses aside, he FAILED to get anyone. So as I have said. 2 windows to get a striker, he has failed twice. Therefore doubts that he will sort it in the summer are justified. Blind and total faith seems bizarre to me. As much as I rate Adam Wharton, Lewis O'Brien is proven as a stand out Championship midfielder. I don't think at this stage personally that Wharton can be considered better. The two together would have been good though.
  8. Obviously no one has 100% success and I would never expect that. Point being that having fucked the task of getting a competent striker up twice, why would anyone have total faith in him getting it right this summer?
  9. Every club will have lists, obviously every club is planning but it doesnt mean those players will be good or indeed actually will sign. People surely base their judgement on the % of successes to failure. In terms of getting a striker, Broughtons success rate is 0% so I have obviously dont have total faith in him but hopefully it will be third time lucky. I don't swallow the endless excuses offered up. This summers excuse could be that the new head of recruitment is new.
  10. You haven't explained how your judgement isn't affected by how Broughton has done so far but fair enough.
  11. The manager takes the blame in both instances just as both managers deserved praise for strong initial positions. Tomasson has made a number of poor decisions in the last 7 games that have contributed to our poor points tally. He isnt exempt from criticism. Ultimately though both managers were hindered by a lack of quality caused by the owners and staff above.
  12. I cant fathom how even messing up 2 goes at getting us a decent striker doesnt in any way reduce your faith in the chance of getting it spot on third time.
  13. It justifies letting an asset running his deal down for free because we didnt get offered the same amount as a totally different player with longer on his deal to run 12 months down the line.
  14. Obviously it isnt a dead rubber, but is it any wonder that people lack belief in a team that has not won in 7 and similarly fell apart last season?
  15. Out of interest, would you like Waggott to leave the club or are you happy with him in position?
  16. Does signing Hirst and then no one at all not put any doubt in your minf as to whether Broughton can bring in a striker in the summer?
  17. The biggest problem is when Waggott eventually goes, presumably when he wants to, someone similarly incompetent and lacking in any power will replace him. The issues all stem from the owners. Also @Miller11 regarding the sob stories about transfers, totally agree. Sadly, a sign of the acceptance of low standards that has inevitably strangled our fanbase. Hence why many came off having watched our local rivals win their 6th successive game against us to seal the title at Ewood and go 30 points clear of us with an overwhelming feeling of pride.
  18. Fair enough, @Ossydave has it right as bit of a cringey non-story, I was there and didn't hear it so mustn't have taken off to be too audible.
  19. At Birmingham or at home to Bournemouth? I certainly heard neither at either game.
  20. You know I would, you keep asking me. Kaminski is the better keeper, he was outstanding up until the weeks in which he was carrying an injury to which he eventually broke down. My attitude isn't that form doesn't matter, I just don't think that Pears is as good and I don't think you could describe his performances as outstanding.
  21. The tactics dont suit him either, nor does where he plays ie left in a 4231 which requires keeping the width more and tracking back more, so he offers less threat in attack.
  22. He didn't have anything to do really, there were barely any shots on target combined. In the games prior he had a few moments of indecision.
  23. Rankin Costello and Pickering have been 2 solid players for us in recent months. If Carvajal and Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid were available for the next game though, would we say "well do they deserve to be dropped?" Kaminski is a miles better keeper. Pears has done well as a stand in and hasn't made any major errors although he has looked shaky and indecisive lately. Rather play our best players.
  24. From an attacking sense, it wasn't. Just trying to think out of the box. Get our top scorer up top.
