v Millwall (h) - 5/3/24
roverblue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It was like JDT never left, pointless possession based football full of 6 yard backwards and sideways passes. Total borefest and you just knew Millwall would score with their only shot on goal. The loss of Adam Wharton is massive there is nobody who can get their foot on the ball and make a forward pass through the lines. It’s going to be a grim last 10 games and relegation seems inevitable at this point as we draw our way to the finish line. -

Weirdly looking forward to this, think it's because there is so much riding on it. Feels like a must win game so lets hope the players have got the message and come out blazing into an early lead. -

I briefly met Broughton at the Norwich game so he’s definitely not gardening. -
He must have started about 5 games for us so hard to say if he was any good or not. Just a completely bizarre signing and re-selling of a player. Add it to the list since the Venkys showed up

Next Seasons Manager
roverblue replied to Tyrone Shoelaces's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We havent had a new manager bounce in results but I think performance wise its showed signs of improvement over the JDT disaster. It certainly isnt Eustace fault we are knocking on relegations door. Saying that he has to win these next two home games to demonstrate there is some hope left to get us out the mess we find ourselves in. If he fails this test then I think we are nailed on to go down given our extended form (2 wins in 17?). In terms of next season if we are down I would just get rid and try for someone experienced in who can get the team back up. It will need some selling to a prospective manager though when all we are left with is a tiny squad of under 21s and no money to invest. Complete shambles of a club at the moment. -

They all need to shut up and put up tomorrow night. The home form has been crap all season and asking us all to clap along as we go 2 down in another wimpy display is pathetic. -

These next two home games are the ones to judge him on. We have to win both and it’s up to him and the players to get their shit together. Personally can’t see it based on the season so far it’s been dreadful for months. Losing Travis was a disaster but letting Wharton go was the final nail in the team’s coffin. League one here we come! -

Only saw the second half and thought we deserved something. Sounds like we started terribly though. we have to win these next two home games to ease the pressure -

The loan players we have got in this season are truly awful. -

Stuck the second half on, seem to be getting a few chances but picking the wrong pass or just generally being shit. Think if we don’t win the next 2 home games relegation is looking very likely -

Hopefully it all comes together this afternoon and we thump Swansea by a few goals. 1-3 Rovers -
Yeah agree with this, his off the ball work is really poor and seems to have no confidence to take someone on either. Just seems lost out wide. I would defo try him down the middle as he seems dangerous in and around the box.

It’s a poor and unbalanced squad but they are definitely more suited to Eustace ball than JDT ball. -

Given how bad our form has been I think results wise he has done well in his first few games. He has fixed the defence which was the main issue with the team. The way Norwich setup we would have been murdered on the break under JDT. It’s not pretty but I think a lot of that is down to Adam Wharton not pulling the strings. A lot riding on Buckley to fill that gap now. His real tests are the upcoming Millwall and Plymouth home games as these are ones we have to win. -

Pleased with the point and performance against one of the leagues form sides. It feels a lot more solid defensively but we are struggling to create anything without Wharton in the side. Unless Buckley steps up this is the style for the rest of the season I think. Lots of effort but nobody capable of playing the killer balls for Sammy, Dolan or Gally to get on the end of. -

I think this is why we haven't heard from Greg/Waggot yet about the situation. On a happy path all is sorted and they commit to re-invest some of the Wharton/Raya funds. If not then who knows what comes next, hopefully a sale. One thing is for certain there won't be any cash for signings or contracts. -

I don’t know who can get the message through to Waggot and co but they are looking at a total decimation of the season ticket holder base this summer. The performances on the field and the clown show off it have pushed me and plenty others away for next season. No matter how good an earl my bird offer goes out there is no way I’m even considering getting one until it’s clear there will be some reinvestment in the squad. -

Yeah and thank god for him or we would be rock bottom already. The last few seasons there always seems to be that one player who steps up through the fog of shite to bag a load of goals. -

The last few games have really showed how much we miss Adam Wharton, without him orchestrating things we just play shit balls sideways and create nothing. Buckley took it by the scruff of the neck but he's hot and cold, plus injury prone. Hopefully he can be the man till the end of the season. The squad itself is simply devoid of any quality forward thinking players, they all want to quickly move it on and play it sideways. We have no pace, power, dribbling skill, individuality. Something we should be targeting as a priority in summer. -

This is one of the worst games of football I have ever seen . Two sides that just went the season to end. Zero quality. Even the basics seem a step too far like controlling a ball or passing it 5 yards. -

It could make for a strange game on Saturday, even though PNE have had a few wins if you look at their stats they tend to have minor possession and barely any shots on goal, yet convert the ones they do. They seem to be good at taking a battering then knicking one or two on the break (bit like they did to us at Ewood). If we both just play to clear our lines for 90mins it could be one of the dullest games in a long time!
