That *was* the January Window
SuperBrfc replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
That's exactly it. None of this feels natural. It's a terrible situation in the context of a football fan, which nobody understands apart from people on here. People on the outside look at the club, without knowing anything apart from 'oh those chicken owners, yeah, shame'. They look at the Championship table and think it's not that bad, but the situation is worse than they can imagine. 13 years of this is incredible. "Move on", "Forgive and forget", "Badly advised". No chance on all of those fronts for me. They've ruined 13 years of my life. Killed the enjoyment of football, going to Ewood, anything to do with Rovers since their arrival. The way I see it, it feels as though the bad guys have the real Blackburn Rovers held hostage somewhere. They've wheeled out this impostor, with the help of their friends, and are telling us this is your club. Trust us. Trust the process. It's not and I won't. Ever. The day that all of these bastards are gone will be some day, I tell you. We need the Indian High Court to play its part in a week's time. The Court saying no, is what is going to get things moving for us. -
I do think there is a bizarre affection towards the owners from the crowd in a similar way that there was towards Mowbray. The latter is what your opening sentence is reminding me of. JDT isn't far away from getting pelters at Ewood, it's building up to that, as he is not viewed with the same loving eyes that Mowbray was. I think it will be similar with new owners, if things don't click right away. No doubt Venky's will leave an absolute mess behind meaning that is likely. It's almost guaranteed that there will be fans, like these twitter examples, pining for Venky's, as absurd and ridiculous as that sounds to many of us here! I think it really is as simple as people repeatedly hearing "£20m, £20m, they pump in £20m a year" then looking at Bury and thinking we're doing fine, the owners are good. What about the damage they have done? 'That wasn't their fault. It was bad advice from bad people. Look, £20m. £20m. Oh, the Prem days? That was thanks to Uncle Jack. This is our natural level, we're a small town club'. Those are the kind of sentiments from most at Ewood these days. Two of the worst things that could have happened for Rovers (aside from the wretched takeover) was the relegation to L1 and what happened with Bury. Both have frozen this fanbase with fear. A fear of wanting new owners and a fear of ambition. It's better to just safely sit in this Division whilst being grateful for the '£20m'. Waggott displays the same fear. £20m, which they have a duty to pay into order to cover bills/losses. Losses which they have played a big part in causing. This is not some act of loyalty or generosity. Only among this fanbase are calls for ambition and criticism of the owners met with "But Bury, look at Bury". Why is it not a case of "but West Ham, but Brighton", which is where we were before these bastards wrecked everything?

"Don't deceive yourself" "This is just re-writing history" From a guy who is saying Venky's saved the club from the 'turmoil' post Jack. Ha. A lack of knowledge about the club, in particular the last 13 years, plus a "let's just be positive" outlook is a dangerous combination. It's due to this combination that there is no discontent aimed towards Venky's at Ewood, imo.

Yep, Sutton is our best hope of bringing attention to this mess. He had it spot on with his analysis of the club on Sky, it could have been any one of us on here speaking that day. I'm not sure if it was during that piece, but I remember him saying his son is an avid Rovers fan who follows all the ins and outs closely and keeps on top of what's going on. His son could very well be a visitor/member of this forum, as there's nowhere else online that discusses Rovers in the way that we do here. To be fair to Shearer, he did say the following when over in India working for the Premier League. Starts at 1:18 of the clip. Granted, it was a few years ago, but still:

Former Rovers players - Goal compilation thread
SuperBrfc replied to SuperBrfc's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I enjoyed watching Gally play for us. He wasn't the biggest or the quickest, but even at that young age you could see that he had the technical quality to make a contribution. He was surrounded by experienced heads who could help him out and advise when needed. That's how it should be. Not making them central figures allowing all the pressure to be placed on them. I remember it was Gally who played a superb through ball to Jon Stead for the winner against United in 2004. He played his part alongside Stead in the second half of that season, to steer us away from trouble, and that's how I mostly remember his time here. A goal of his that often comes to mind when I see his name mentioned, is the late equaliser against Chelsea at Ewood in Feb 2004. Narrow angle, he somehow clipped it past Cudicini (I think it was). Clever finish. I was sat right behind it in the Riverside. Of course, in typical Rovers fashion, we went and lost the game in injury time. He wasn't quite good enough to be a Premier League regular, in a side that was trying to achieve top 10 and more, but had a good career in the Divisions below. Oh and just on that clip. Good link up by Gally, but what a ball from Coley for the first goal. Superb! Niall Ennis? F.O!! We know what strikers look like at this club. That joker and Telalovic are not it. -

True, it is an old article. There are a couple of key pointers in there though that need to be picked up on, imo. I was initially for the Gelhardt signing when he was first linked with us, as he looked like a player in the short time that I saw him at Leeds. However, he didn't do much in a Sunderland shirt. Would he be worth bringing here? We are that short on options and quality and we need fresh ideas up there, so maybe. I don't think he would be a Gallagher replacement though. I think it's likely to be Ennis out on loan, replaced by Gelhardt on loan. The buffoons are sure to have a silly valuation in mind for Gallagher, like they did with Brereton, and if it isn't met, he's probably going nowhere. -

Same. A bit of research shows that Ennis shares the same agent as Harry Pickering, Patrick Gamble and Luke Brennan (former Rovers youth player). I didn't know until yesterday, but a transfer target of ours, who we have been linked with a few times previously, including just last week, also has the same agent. Joe Gelhardt. What transfer rumour was going around the other day. Was it Ennis going out on loan? Anyway, here's an article containing rave reviews about Gelhardt: https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/agent-reveals-lofty-joe-gelhardt-23881447 -

I think he would be too demanding for them. He was apparently expecting 12 signing to come in at Big club. Good luck with that here, Wayne. My gut feeling is Lee Bowyer coming out of the wilderness in Montserrat. -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
SuperBrfc replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Just a hunch based on the summer...but it would not surprise me to see these clowns bring Lee Bowyer out of the wilderness in Montserrat to replace JDT. His mate, "Woody", might also be looking to get back into management after spending time as an assistant at Boro. The shortlist for JDT's replacement is going to be telling, imo. I do not share the same belief as some that Broughton will find us a decent coach/manager. -

Very reminiscent of the Scott Dann signing. He played like he didn't want to be here, was shite most of the time, apart from a few games here and there. As soon as I saw that Blackburn End moment from Hyam, I was done with him. Never in the class of Nelsen, Short, Berg etc as a player or leader. -

Agreed. He showed at the business end of last season that he hasn't got what it takes. Crumbled when the pressure was on. Trying to calm the Blackburn End down as he couldn't handle a bit of stick. Captain material? Not a chance. We've looked even worse at the back since his return to the side. -

Their roster also includes Wahlstedt, Telalovic and former Rovers players in Zeefuik, Trybull, Harlock, plus Morton and Kaminski, as previously mentioned. JDT and Remy too. Not related to Rovers, but still an interesting read: https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/25228207/erik-ten-hag-agent-man-utd-academy-transfer/ -

It might take us falling into the bottom three before the MSM pay attention, I feel. Relegation almost certainly would. The more JDT highlights what he is having to deal with, the better, in my view. As the belief on the outside appears to be that "Venky's are doing ok now" and that they "pump money into the club" therefore they aren't that bad. It's still an absolute shit show as most of us know, it's just that there isn't visible discontent in the stands or issues highlighted by the press for outsiders to pick up on. JDT is, hopefully, painting a picture with these honest interviews. Of the local journos, I think Andy Bayes is our best hope of putting some pressure on. He has started to be more direct with his questions to JDT and Swag. He is a Rovers fan at the end of the day and I'm guessing there's only so much he can put up with too, even as a professional. There's another interviewer that I've been impressed with lately. I think he's called Adam Cottier. Direct and not afraid to ask questions. We need him and Bayes to stick it on Waggott and Broughton, in a journalistic sense, of course. There are many questions for that pair, in my view. -

Real excitement in the air back then. I can remember feeling that buzz ahead of most games. Some special away performances/results that season. Dingles, Watford, Bolton, Birmingham, Grimsby, Nobbers. A particular favourite of mine was at Pride Park in the FA Cup. Drawn to face Premier League Derby and we go and smash 5 past them! What a squad and time that was. A lot of it comes down to intent. Back then, there was a clear intent from the top. We want promotion. Everybody was on board with it and the manager was backed to that end. The players wanted to do it for Uncle Jack too. Today? Only one man in the building has shown the right intent and he won't be hanging around for long. -
Gary Owen was the former City player on there. I enjoyed listening to his views and he came across as a nice guy. Would often give Rovers a bit of airtime. I thought Alan Kennedy was ok too. Sharpey was just bothered about Everton. It was great to see us frustrate each of them in turn during those years.
-
Yeah, I remember that. On the 'Legends Football Phone in'. There was one particular Rovers visit to Old Trafford, where Thomas and a few of their fans were getting giddy beforehand on the Friday. Acting like it was a foregone conclusion for United. It took one of their wiser fans (Webby) to tell Thomas "don't take these (Rovers) lightly tomorrow, Sparky's got them playing, they are coming to attack and we have to be on it, otherwise we will get beat". Morten scored twice... Not a peep from Thomas on the Monday.

Keep on shining a light on the shit show, Jon. We're right behind you. Any neutrals reading that will be wondering what the heck is going on. Good! We need people to start asking questions. -

Andy Moran, eh? @gazza1981 No thank you, there are levels to this. This is what a real Blackburn Rovers player looks like: -
Yeah, he also said that even though Hanley and Duffy were sold for good fees, he was told he would only have one of their wages available to replace the pair of them with. Ridiculous. We had addressed the frontline, but managed to decimate the defence in the same breath. That's the Venky way. It looks like no lessons have been learnt either as a similar thing seems to be happening again now. I.e use one of the departing wages to cover three signings. It's a recipe for relegation, when those players are lower league standard and not of the calibre for this club. As is the case with Ennis and Telalovic.
-
Oh, I don't disagree. He would have most likely lumbered us with shite. It's more the idea that he didn't get the money, but the spin being put out was that he chose not to spend. Spin via itk's etc, which takes the blame away from Venky's. Something which appears to have repeated itself with Mowbray. One thing about Coyle, despite being a crap manager, he didn't have trouble finding us a striker with little money to play with. We needed strikers and he goes and gets Gallagher, Graham, Emnes and Joao. Just on that aspect alone, he puts Broughton to shame.

I don't think the Hollywood boys will have encountered a circus quite like ours before. The thought of Waggott rolling out the red carpet for them and their entourage. Yuck. Good draw on paper, there will be plenty of interest/intrigue, but I feel this has got upset all over it.
