1. The other big worry is where has the Corporate support gone? No longer any sponsorship of the Family Stand with Rock FM gone along with their programme adverts!! No Orange Man of the Match or adverts again!! 5 Corporate boxes at the BBE empty withou tenants (or was it 6?) rather than the usual one!! At 27K per box plus profits from the booze bills this is a mega loss. Are we in the s**t?
2. I couldn't believe the ST holders who were missing yesterday having given up on the Rovers, at least 20 long time blues ST holders have deserted them inthe seats near me in the JW Upper (NO I don't have B O !!); this includes people who have been to a number of away games in recent seasons. Their ST seats have been replaced by those further back in the JW who have moved down to get a better seat. The problem is that they find other interests and no longer turn up to the odd match as walk ons. We really have some desperate issues here with the Rovers support dropping by 2K every season...this threatens our Premiership viability.
3. How exactly are we behind PNE when they hadnt even got over the 9 thousand mark for season ticket sales just before the start of the season? And as for Wigan I still don't think they have reached our sale of 13k (if we are 1k behind our total of 14k last season) when it is their biggest season EVER. If we start the season less than a thousand down after the pretty poor fayre served up at Ewood over the last two years we havent done half bad. 338866 Figues i've read say PNE and Wigan at 12K plus. We are 11.5K.
4. SHOOT Emerton NOW What are we doing keeping this headless moron...does he ever lift his head up and look? Why didn't we shift him off to the barcodes? SHOOT HIM/PUT HIM DOWN NOW
5. Yeah, just read the article. Around 1000 down actually means OVER 1000 down. I actually find this both bad and sad news and we now have the lowest ST sales in the Premiership including Wigan Pathetic and behind local rivals such as Preston. The article says the figure is made up of approximately 700 adults and 300 children. We need to look at this in the context of season upon season of reducing ST holders and an equivalent reduction in the home gate. The only answer appears to lie on the pitch...the comment I constantly hear is "why go and spend good money watching this crap".
6. Still waiting for my 2 ST's. But I am gagging to get my hands on the "Goals of the Season" DVD. Is it like Friday night sex after a skinful of ale...2 mins, lacking action and instantly forgetable?
7. what do I neded a sodding hot dog for? This will give me a fat arse...why not offer fresh pressed apple or freshly squeezed orange or even low fat yoghurts. Has JW and the Board never heard of healthy eating. They will never learn.
8. never!! but check previous posts for being spot on with my leads
9. Latest ST news....sales, based on Thursday 7th are DOWN 40% on last season. This is a correct figure.
10. talking to mate last night who is 29 yrs BBE ST holder who is not renewing, reasons: "I'm fed up of watching boring s**t from overpaid dummies" "I want to choose when I go and free up my Saturdays" This on top of the lad and his missus from Euxton who packed in last season after 10 years who told me on Friday that he went to only 2 matches last season: Burnley home and the Parkes Testimonial! What the hell do we do, I can't blame them and the arguments don't appear to exist to persuade them to not only retain but to attend a few games. These are not rare examples; the other is the lifetime JW ST holder who only attended the WBA home (first game and crap) and the Parkes game.
11. Call it what you like...I could not give a monkeys if it brings in cash. The sad position is that I doubt if we will have any takers; even North End can raise more cash with sponsorship than us (their shirt deal for example). It would be nice if we could even let all our boxes! In brief we are in the s**t.
12. 1966/67 season , just after relegated to the old 2nd Division.
13. Just off to the States in an hour. I wanted to go to Ewood but sometimes the choice is too difficult. I'll be looking out on the web tonight and wish the England women well.
14. Is this the team that beat PNE at Cardiff last week? And what are the 2 in the middle up to?
15. Sorry to dissapoint you, but it's an "i" 320627 Even better!!
16. glad PNE didn't do it. I had an extra bevvy when Zamora scored. Coming orisinally from Leyland, when the Rovers Leyland support would not have filled a mini-bus, PNE were always the opposition...Burnley mean nowt to those of us from West of Blackburn. Stay down you PNE scummers!!!
17. with a bit of luck I may even receive my renewal packs soon...it's Thursday and still no sign.
18. Paul come to the JW Upper. There are 2 good seats coming up behind me as the incumbents aare going to move to Norwich. The seats are great and the fans are quiet except me and one or two others. You will enjoy the banter!! Very important. This is a bit off topic but it will help my decision. Seriously thinking about moving out of the Family stand into the JW or BBE. I fancy the JW for the better view, the lads want the BBE for the better atmosphere. Now I was going for the BBE until the Tony Parkes game, when an incident occured which put me off. We had the pleasure of sitting in row 2 behind a young man called SHOTTI (that was on his shirt) and half a dozen of his mates. When Shearer scored Shotti rushed to the barrier, swung himself over the top and held on to barrier, so he was literally, hanging upside down on the pitch side. A young steward tried to help him up and ensure he got back on the seating side. Shotti then grabbed the steward by the throat and made three attempts to punch him. An older steward seperated the pair. We then had to listen to Shotti and his mates abuse the stewards for the rest of the match, which they didn't watch at all. Spoilt my evening to be honest, and I don't understand why Shotti wasn't ejected at the least. I get very wound up at Rovers, especially if things go badly, and had this been a PL game and I was in a bad mood, I might well have pointed out to Shotti what a complete pillock he is. No doubt this would have caused a problem. I haven't watched regularly from the BBE for more than 20 years. I'm not prepared to put up with this behaviour - am I going to find similar things are a frequent event? I know it's a minority and 99% of the fans are superb but if I happen to buy the seats behind a "Shotti" I'd probably end up in trouble. I've purposefully delayed posting this to avoid it being a reaction to my feelings at the time.....and hopefully Shotti will learn how unacceptable his behaviour is to other Rovers fans. We wonder why attendances are dropping? 318874
19. [quote The truth hurts and is often harsh, What you say is true of the current squad SINCE Hughes took over. Prior to that these players gave us nothing. The Fulham game was a prime example that the team is still capable of the "couldn't care less" attitude. Betaing Fulham was vital for the feel-good factor. What did we get? Another abject defeat from a team that did not compete plus a player sent off after running 30 yards to deliberatley foul an opponent. We are being asked to support this rabble, it is unprofessional - they are asked to work for two hours a week for £1m plus a year, I expect total and utter dedication for the 90 minutes I'm watching, nothing less is acceptable. After the Fulham game I said I wouldn't renew my STs. I still do not WANT to renew, I WILL renew but I have no interest, excitment or desire to do so at the moment. I know literally tens of ex ST holders who feel exactly the same. At Blackburn we have a lot of fans who are no longer prepared to put up with it. The answer is simple: force the players to perform, week in, week out. Make them realise they are responsible for the club's position. Hit them in the pocket when they don't perform. It's a team game, I'm not criticisng any individual, they must take collective resposibility. I don't mind losing, I don't mind the fact we are unlikley to win anything, I'll put up with inconvenient KO times, I'll ignore the over-blown hype that is the PL, I'll ignore all the rubbish that is associated with our game provide the players attitude is right. Currently it stinks. Until the players perform at Ewood Park the club can do nothing to increase support. 316894 What the hell is going on here! This guy talks common sense, crap players = crap gates; why should I waste my money on crap when I could have a day with the family and spend the £2000+ I spend watching the Rovers every year? The reason I do it is the same as Paul: LOYALTY> But remember loyalty is not blind nor at any cost; that is why 4K fans have deserted the blues. Let's move away from excuses, focus on reality and win back the missing, or at least retain our dwindling fan base by playing some football. Paul, you are a genius (ps. may I have a Grooby next year please?).
