  1. Indeed, a 'super fan'. Think it's clear, Rovers were a huge, huge part of his life. Can recall, as though it was yesterday, his photo in the LT holding a banner on Nuttall Street with the words 'Lee must stay' when Newcastle came calling back in 1975. Thoughts, as always with someone's passing, are with the family. RIP Alan.
  2. Agree. Injuries now biting hard. According to Jackson in today's LT, return dates for Hyam, JRC and Gallagher all ominously 'unknown' whilst Carter expected back for Stoke game (25 Nov). Think we'll be lucky if any of Hyam, JRC and Gallagher make it back before Christmas.
  3. See Jim's post below. Don't think JDT will land a 'big job' until he can add to his cv eg a promotion to PL. Think he would have a much better chance of achieving that at Norwich. They are a decent club (similar to what we once were) who generally give their managers a fair shot unless it's plainly not working, have good facilities (ground, training, academy etc) and average 25k+ regularly. A lovely area to live in and would be a better career step than the cr@p he has to contend with here.
  4. Agree, given the circumstances he has to manage in, JDT is doing remarkably well. That doesn't mean I agree with all his football decisions. Without doubt, his ability to fashion the playing style we have and get decent results with one hand tied behind his back is quite remarkable and will have not gone unnoticed. Surprised at Norwich appointing Knapper as sporting director. His CV isn't that impressive. IMO, also based on some tit bits from a good Arsenal connection, I think it will be hugely challenging for him. Think he's bottled his first big input - it seems Wagner has lost both players and fans and there can be no way back from that. Given Knapper's Arsenal background, I think you've put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5. If I was involved at Norwich, JDT would be on my shortlist.
  5. The grass is not always greener.............................. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/leicester-southampton-and-west-brom-place-ex-blackburn-striker-on-january-transfer-radar/ We may soon see him at Ewood again lining up for the opposition. Burnley and Palace also linked.
  6. Absolutely. This guy cost us a relatively big fee. Given the fee involved and his one full Swedish cap, I was expecting a far more assured and capable goalkeeper. Based upon his performances so far, one could be forgiven for thinking we'd taken a cheap punt on a League Two prospect.
  7. My big worry is losing JDT particularly with him frequently making it quite clear the 'project' has changed. He must feel he is being asked to do the job with one arm tied behind his back. I think his frustrations are very clear. The irony is our style of football and performance at Norwich yesterday will almost certainly see the departure of Wagner and it is not inconceivable Norwich will cast an envious eye in the direction of JDT; if they came in for him, I think he would be off like a shot and who could blame him.
  8. I really hope we do and money can be found. This lad's value will rocket over the next year or two. There's not much this lad hasn't got in his locker. Very impressive.
  9. Another concern is the number of shots/headers that don't seem to stick! He really does seem to have an issue with both catching (crosses) and holding on to (shots/headers) - I think he's cost us at least 3 goals. I was desperate for him to be the answer to Pears and I would stick with him (we may have no other option) until the window reopens but the signs after 7/8 games or so are a tad worrying - struggling to even call him a decent 'shot stopper' and if a goalie hasn't even got that in his locker................
  10. Unbelievably, odds on Preston win are 3/1. We will barely have a defence come Friday and behind that defence will stand a nervous, error prone, 'draculaesque' goalie. The aerial bombardment will be akin to America's bombing of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia! This is some opportunity to fill those Christmas stockings - make the most of it and soften the blow of a PNE win.
  11. Rest assured, Ryan Lowe will have noted. There will be some bombardment on Friday.
  12. and, IMO, therein lies a huge problem. Metaphorically, a little boy in a man's world.
  13. Leo hasn't grown into it and now doubt he will after half a dozen games or so. Even worse than John Butcher on crosses and that's saying something. Poor buy at almost £1million.
  14. Next goal huge. Rovers score then we'll romp it. Norwich get an early one and owt can happen. Think we have a goalie problem. Pears not good enough, Leo not growing into it - not inspiring confidence, yet.
  15. Super, super stuff. A bit early but very worthy of a nice red!
  16. We really are stretched now. We need to try and off load Gallagher in January. Relatively, a big earner who goes missing injured for long periods. Certainly should be no new contract on the table for him. Without our talisman Szmodics, difficult to see where our zip and fizz will come from. Huge chance for Leonard to nail down a place. Has very good movement and gets in the right places at the right time - a couple of goals could see him really take off. Norwich in poor form and pressure mounting on Wagner..........Rovers come to 'town' and we know what happens next! Think those travelling to that lovely part of the UK (it's a horrible journey) will do so more in hope than expectation. Sadly, I can only see this going one way. Norwich to win by 3 or 4 goals to 1.
  17. Really fear for us tomorrow. Pochettino will see this as an opportunity for his team to score some goals, win convincingly, boost confidence and ease some pressure on himself. No surprise he's fielding a strong team. Our threadbare squad is now beyond breaking point and you can only look at fixtures against Norwich and Preston with a deep sense of foreboding. We are in the mire and it would be foolish to pretend otherwise
  18. If you are quick, you can still get evens on a Rovers' win - great opportunity to get that Christmas bonus up and running.
  19. He might genuinely be a late developer. Sadly, my blood runs cold when I hear 'late developer' after Steve Kean's description of 'that tackle' Myles Anderson. I think my cynicism can be forgiven!
  20. Keep changes, positional or otherwise, to a minimum. We have a bit of momentum and Hill, Brittain and JRC are excelling - would be madness to shift those three just to cover for Hyam (Wharton did well when he came on, so let's see if he sinks or swims - we are playing Swansea at home not Man City!). Result not in doubt - Rovers by two clear goals to keep marching on.
  21. Your words are too kind Jim - horrible down there and I very much doubt I'll watch Rovers at Millwall again. However, I think your endeavours will be rewarded and I can't see anything other than a Rovers' win. As per my comments before the Cardiff match, four big differences and plusses for me, Leo, Hill, Brittain in that advanced role and Tronstad. Add JRC and Siggy into the mix and suddenly we look a much more likely proposition. Rovers by 2 or 3 goals to 1. Enjoy and safe travels.
  22. Would he feck! He'd have bounced up off the floor, arms outstretched looking to blame anyone but himself - just like he usually does when he concedes Seen enough already to see why Leo has a full Swedish cap whilst Pears, IMO, will piss around in the lower leagues for ever and a day
  23. Home banker - Rovers in a canter by 2 or 3 clear goals. We need to string a few wins together in order to be threatening the top 6 by Christmas. Injuries clearing up so some good options. Four recent big plusses for us: Leo in goal portrays calmness and assurance - anyone still pining for Pears really does need to give their head a wobble. Very much like Hill at rb - we look much more solid and can see him weighing in with a handful of goals with that shot he has in his locker. Been advocating Brittain as rwb for weeks - think he's going to be some player there for us. Now that Tronstad is up to speed, looks very good in that holding role and would now like to see Wharton pushed a bit further forward where his vision and passing can really hurt the opposition.. Onwards and upwards and upwards!
