  1. If anyone seriously thinks we will get £25million for BBD then they need to give their head one hell of a wobble. He is in the last year of his contract, is unproven at PL level and has had one good season out of 3/4 in Championship. Is he a one hit season wonder? I would snap the hand off any club willing to give us a straight £15million Feels like we will have to accept £10/12million or we will have another Lenihan/Rothwell on our hands.
  2. There wasn't any Rovers' interest. My understanding is Rovers were offered Delap on loan but Mowbray said 'no'. Ask Waggott if you see him on Saturday.
  3. Have to disagree. Liverpool spent about £170million on Becker, Van Dijk and Konate with Konate the cheapest at a reported £36million - from memory, Klopp has only exceeded Koate's fee twice on forward signings (Jota and Nunez). As for attacking players stepping up from the Championship, there is a trail of 'flat track Championship bullies' who have failed big time stepping up to the PL as we saw with our own Rhodes and Armstrong.
  4. Brereton roughly same age and 1 year left on his contract. Just why do Rovers and some fans think we can get top dollar for Brereton and pick up others in similar circumstances, like VH, for relative buttons. It really is nonsense.
  5. Pretty sure 99 managers out of 100 would have taken the Delap option! Different type of players anyhow - understand the money was there so Mowbray could, and should, have signed both! It really does beggar belief.
  6. Social media has changed the world. Likes of Jack Tipping (cartoonist supreme) and Peter White were always good for a bit of 'discrete' info if you had their confidence.
  7. I'll better that and pay for the feckin lot and then open a special red to celebrate.
  8. Good luck Gus. Go and find some feckin diamonds for us.
  9. The bottom line, IMO, is that Brereton HAS to be sold ASAP. The only way we are going to be able to make quality additions who can come in and make an impact from day 1. We need to be punching hard from next Saturday. Momentum and confidence is everything in Championship.
  10. Don't think Jackson would know an exclusive if it hit him in the face! Don't think it's a secret that he is on the list of Rovers' options.
  11. and lose him for peanuts in Jan or feck all in July next year. It's madness and can't go on.
  12. Friend of mine is a big Liverpool fan and told me last week there are a couple of young players at Liverpool who would be worth taking on loan - one was Morton (think he's had about a dozen first team starts and still only 19) and also Quansah a centre back who they have very high hopes of and has already made the bench for the first team on occasions.
  13. Whilst reading through, noticed a number of question marks posed against Dack's fitness, mobility and engine etc. Sadly, I agree. Even before his injuries, I would not have described Dack as a 'great athlete'. I think Dack is really struggling and you wonder what is now left of him as a 'real player'. An expensive conundrum for Rovers.
  14. Coughlin had so much potential and talent but, IMO, sadly wasted it. He could and should have been a top flight player. Sadly, I don't think he had the mindset of a professional athlete as your tale indicates. Tragically, the lad passed away in his fifties.
  15. Brotherston was predominantly right footed. He wore 11 and played out on left wing to accommodate Miller, who, IMO, was useless with his left foot and only marginally better with his right foot. I remember one night match at home against Crystal Palace when Brotherston was doing very well for Rovers playing out wide on the right and he came up against a very young Kenny Samson at left back for Palace. It was quite clear that night Samson was a class act and only going to get better whilst perhaps Brotherston had found his level after being released by Spurs on a free transfer. Samson had Brotherston in his pocket from first whistle and Noel barely got a kick.
  16. We did, however, his pace had all gone second time around and not half he player he was.
  17. @chaddyroversdidn't need to go and see Waggott. He should have saved his best shirt, his after shave and petrol money as I could have told him what Waggott would have to say. Bet Waggott thought in his mind as Chaddy was leaving his office 'well, at least there's one happy fan/customer'! However, I do admire Chaddy's spirit - if Carlsberg did Rovers' fans......................!!!
  18. Harrods a fairy tale, Lidl an aspiration and food bank a reality.
  19. The only cloud on the horizon on this glorious summer's day is Rovers. I find it so flecking depressing. Lenihan, Rothwell and Nyambe gone for feck all. Phillips contract unsigned. Think writing is on the wall - we are going to lose him for buttons. Going to lose BBD for a cut price - worse still, he'll just run down the last year of his contract. Not a signing made. Think it's difficult to argue that we are nothing but a fecking shambles and we are fecked as a club
  20. You are quite wrong. IMO, he should never have been appointed in the first place - there was nothing in his track record to suggest he was the man for us. I think he is a fifth rater and that is being kind. I would not trust the guy as far as I could spit and I think Cole's autobiography said it all.
  21. Agreed. Liverpool always extract top dollar. When you employ quality personnel who know what the feck they are doing.................!!!!!
  22. Firstly, Broughton is not employed in a marketing capacity and I would not expect him to "communicate the offering" as you say. However, three senior executives / managers who should communicate on a regular basis are Waggott, Broughton and JDT - any fan who does not either understand or believe that needs to give their head a serious wobble - lack of communication is a relationship killer (club and fans in this instance). Who says we are borassic? GB said we had a healthy budget - if he is lying then that is unforgivable. If indeed we are 'skint' then the fans should be told that just like we were at times in the 1970's / 1980's then aspirations can be moderated and frustrations minimised. Broughton's job started on day 1 and that's when judgement starts. At the moment, as far as I can see, he has brought zilch to the party - time for him to either sh1t or get off the pot. We should not make excuses for guys who are paid relative fortunes in comparison to the average fan. .
  23. I said Broughton should be doing at least 60 hours over the course of the week. If you are young, keen, hungry and ambitious, you do whatever it takes and you often find there aren't enough hours in the week!
  24. Sorry Chaddy but I think you are wrong and wrong again. For fecks sake, Broughton is the DOF who the fans want to hear from. I'm in a fortunate position where I can pick and choose my work and I'm gradually winding down, however, if there's a big job on and I fancy it and a client needs me then I'm there.
  25. Not really! When a business need arises I do it myself and I'm some 30 years older than Broughton!!! Must confess, if I do a 60 hour shift, I now take the following week or so after off.
