The January 2026 Transfer Window
joey_big_nose replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
With the way the tv money is vastly expanding and the financial gap between Premier League and Championship widening its more about timing really. The resources to bridge the gap and growing year on year. There are a bunch of clubs who made it the mid to end 2010 and have managed to stick or yoyo (Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Palace, Burnley, Sheff Utd, Wolves). But recent years the only new club in who has stuck a bit is Forest and they spent mega money. Will be interesting of Leeds and Sunderland can last. -

Why Rovers? A short term deal, 'guaranteed' game time thereby gaining invaluable experience and becoming 'battle hardened' in a challenging and competitive league, we have something of a track record with promising young loan players (Elliott and Van Hecke to name but two) and as @islander200 points out, the parent club may prefer the young lad to be loaned to a club close to home for clear reasons. This would not be about money (loan fee, savings on wages etc) for the parent club but would be about hastening the development of a real young talent. Why not Rovers? -
Football isnt all about physical attributes, but Cashin seeming to be both slow and relatively small is a big hurdle to get over. Its very puzzling as we brought in Pratt as we thought Riberio and Pickering were too small and slow for LCB but then have pulled in Cashin. Feels like maybe we have knee jerked to bring in experience, but not fully considered the implications.

Abso bloomin ‘ lutely Really irks me more than anything when small minded Rovers fans see clubs like them (and Brentford etc) as “above our level” and say we can’t compete with them. They’re not and we can What they are though are well managed clubs with good owners and executives with ambition, confidence and drive and nous. Burnley have shown what is possible. Has to be said but Rovers need to be run on the Burnley model. -

Will prem clubs really care about the behind the scenes chaos? Both Manchester United and Manchester City have sent promising young players to Sheffield Wednesday. It depends on who the plsyer is and what other clubs we would be competing with. It may be a young player from one of the North West clubs who would rather the player was loaned to a club close to home - Today

I think it's fair to say if we already are asking for this lad, others are too. I hate to say it, but there isn't really any reason Rovers would be at the top of an exciting young PL talents list. Surely they would be much happier starting for a team without the behind the scenes circus. -

What's with the crappy attitude dude? Guys just shared something as a heads up. Stop being a wetwipe because he's not told you every detail. If its true great, if not then ... then its not. Nothing happens. -

‘Happier times’ when Van Hecke was here and the owners declined to go for promotion despite being up the top at Christmas. ’Happier times’ when Hill was here and JDT would rather walk out on his contract than stay a minute longer. -

Happier times is when we would send our young players out on loan to lower league clubs like Brighton and Bournemouth. -

Do whatever you want, I couldn't care less. All I'm saying is that it's not information worth reading if I don't learn anything. You know something, cool. Good for you. -
No injuries to De Neve, Henriksson, McLoughlin and Gardener-Hickman all season. We just recruited poorly in the summer, it's as simple as that. That's 4 fit, completely crap players that make our starting 11 far weaker than last year. Plenty of the new signings have been fit throughout our bad form. Tavares, Morishita and Miller have been available at the same time as the above for a huge amount of this seasons fixtures. The problem is when you add that poor recruitment to last years further cost cutting recruitment (Ohashi, Gueye and Kargbo), then you have the spine of an extremely weak and ineffective first team squad for this level. This is the reality. We're witnessing a team that can't win games due to back to back budget cutting anywhere and everywhere over the past few years.

You can't have it every way! Folk moaning that all seemingly quiet on the transfer front. Isn't a purpose of a MB to share information etc with like minded fans across the MB community? If I get the impression that the likes of you and @roversfan99are NOT in a minority of folk disliking these types of post then I will simply stop posting. -

I think the point is that there isn't any value to telling people that we may or may not sign a guy. Who cares? We haven't learnt anything. I could have told you that. -

Surely, you understand the sensitivities around naming players and that then spreading around social media and alerting other potential suitors. How many players have Rovers signed over last 18 months and name only known when deal done with posters on here then commenting 'that's how to do your business'!!! I named Daniel Oyegoke earlier in the window - difference being good possibility only Rovers might be interested in him and therefore much smaller risk in him being snared by some other club. It's certainly not a stab in the dark!!! Are you for real!? Pretty sure Rovers' fans on this MB would be very interested to know that an exciting young forward talent with a leading PL club is on Rovers' radar. This lad would be a real coup. You are always at me and trying to diss me. Just put me on ignore if you think I post rubbish. - Yesterday

Raining all day and a Yellow warning for wind in south west Wales tomorrow. I'm having visions of the miserable midweek display at Ashton Gate in the pissing rain a couple of years ago 🙃 Again I was only there as I'd never been!
