The January 2026 Transfer Window
Tomphil2 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
'Investment signing' Money tends to suddenly become available for one they think they can polish and flog on flog double. Regardless of where or where not they might blend into the team, this is why we have the managers we do. -
To be fair, Van Dijk is now 34. In yesteryear, that would be approaching retirement age. My guess is that Robertson is the huge miss, amongst others. From the outside, he seemed to be a leader in the backline.

The January 2026 Transfer Window

Seems to be entirely speculative, but this article suggests Rovers as a landing spot for Canadian national team striker Cyle Larin: https://www.footballtransfers.com/nl/transfernieuws/nl-eredivisie/2026/01/cyle-larin-neemt-afscheid-van-feyenoord-turkije-lonkt-als-volgende-stap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyle_Larin Not getting enough minutes on his Feyenoord loan, so looking for a new spot to fight to keep his place in the Canadian national team for the World Cup. His club career has had ups-and-downs, and he's gradually been surpassed as a starter for the national team (was neck-and-neck with Jonathan David for most national team goals until fairly recently. Plenty of goals against CONCACAF minnows, but also huge goals vs USA and Mexico), but I think he'd still be quite effective at this level. Good physical target man, generally works hard, decent (if inconsistent) poacher, and ok with link up play. The game can kind of 'pass him by' if it's not a tactical 'fit'. Still on a La Liga contract with Mallorca (where he hasn't quite 'gelled'), so would require some negotiation on the salary contribution. Otherwise, linked to FC Twente or moving back to Super Lig. If you want to go over 295 pages on his career from Canadian soccer nerds...: https://www.canadiansoccernews.com/topic/75160-cyle-larin/page/295/ Anyway, take all of the above with a grain of salt, but I take my opportunities to expound about a Rovers link to a Canadian soccer (sore-y) player haha -

Cleary won’t go for 5mill - it might rise with add ons etc over the years but certainly won’t be close to 5 as an up front fee -
You do feel that one or two sides we've had in the past would be right up there this year it's a poor league at the top though same as always in the rest of it. Christ knows how Preston are up there they are shite and Millwall also. Had we kept Eustace and that squad even with a couple of cheap additions we'd be up there again i'm sure. But in typical Venky fashion another great opportunity thrown away so the agents can earn their corn.

Id aim to get back to the 352 personally, it suits us when everyone is fit. Just been stupid we have stuck with it without Alebiouso, Hedges, Gudjonsen. We absolutely have to sign a left wing back. But I can see the money men saying - quite logically - that we have to shift two out of Riberio, Pickering and De Neve first. -

It's just negotiation, don't think for a minute Barnsley expect to get £5m for him, but they.ad a selling club aim high while the buying club go with a low ball offer. Usually means they meet somewhere in the middle, which will probably still be toouch for us -
Out of curiosity does anyone know how many action groups there are?

What's the crack over on the other forum? Are they all pro-Venky's or something? I'm not trying to be funny with that question, I'm genuinely trying to understand the other side of this divided fanbase. Surely we all want the same thing - to have a club that is well run with people making decisions with the clubs best interests at heart? I don't think anyone of sound mind can say that we currently have that. Or is it simply a case of as long as the club is afloat in some shape or form that some supporters don't care how it is being run? I really hate the sniping that's occurred on both sides. Why such hatred and hostility? We all support the same club 🥲.

The way the squad has been assembled and they are "trying" to further add to it is bizarre. There seems to be no thought in terms of creating a balanced squad for a favoured, consistent formation -
People on both sides trying to provoke arguments, take the moral high ground and increase their own social media profiles.

Big one today with Portsmouth at home to Southampton in the derby. Back into the bottom three if Portsmouth avoid defeat and they will still have a game in hand either way.

What a childish nasty ill informed comment. Exactly why we are where we are 15 years later. A keyboard warrior slagging off people trying to improve things. Literally cannot win, people calling out Coalition to go public with identities then claiming people after being celebrities. What have you done? -
You're trolling I think.

Knowing the division in the fanbase, the "nobody tells me what to do" and " I refuse to follow that "wannabee celebrity" vibes, I was worried that the call to boycott might not have the desired impact. Also, I had the concern that absent season ticket holders would still be included in the attendance figure. However, I felt it was so important to stay away and back the action. I was determined not to do anything to undermine the boycott plan. Sometimes, you just have to take sides and I know what side I am on. Reflecting this morning, I think there has already been some success in actually getting our plight back into the national media. A first step and something to build on. Also, I thought the attendance did look very sparse and I am well aware that the official attendance figure will be debunked to show an actual attendance of 6,500 or so. Stay strong. Ignore the gloaters and the underminers. Someone sent me a text yesterday that made me laugh out loud. It said "4000 Scabs in Blackburn Lancashire!" -

Because they want 5 million. Then there's no way we will need to pay them 1.5 million. More gruel for the fools in the fanbase to lap up. 'We tried, obviously they're backing us, Barnsley are just greedy, difficult market' etc. -

I think Ismael lied on his CV, when he got the job at Ewood park, I'm a football manager. Ha Ha what a joke. -
6,700 home fans for a 3pm Saturday league game. It obviously had an impact on its own terms, plus, more importantly getting the cause in the media again after a very long hiatus. And before the likes of gooze or some of the more obnoxious posters from the last 24 hours start, yes, I know in and of itself they aren’t closer to the exit door. But it’s a start.

I said it weeks, and weeks ago, could the poor pitch be to blame for our dressing room full of injuries. I've noticed a lot of injuries on the Ewood pitch, happening to opposing teams. -
I do agree with you. I think the lack of unity is sad personally, that Maf person constantly on the wind up. Rovers "fan" forum trying to wind people up and getting personal in there attacks when you post on there doesn't help either. I'm starting to lose hope personally.
