  1. Past hour
  2. well it will be a change from the possesion based shite we see so much,i hope it works out for us,val is`nt getting any help from the snake pasha though which will probably derail the new regime
  3. He was known for making mass changes at a certain time in games. Can clearly see what he’s trying to accomplish. Hopefully results come from it.
  4. In the Championship, the opposition isn't obligingly going to bring a bunch of 17 year olds in the 75th minute but if anything we have prospered better subs v subs in this pre-season than playing first team v first team. Am I not convinced we need a far bigger squad than we have now. If a decent net three additions come in which is what Val wants, competition for starting places is going to be extremely intense because I'd rate Montgomery and Tyjon as worth a place on the bench even if we get the injuries back without new unavailabilities.
  5. I’ll wait and see nothing, thanks. Example, I got it wrong on Szmodics, I got it wrong on BBD, I got it wrong on Callum Brittain and I admitted it every time. How is your view of ‘100+ professional games more valid than the same sample size from anyone else? What makes your views superior to anyone else’s? Anyhow, how are those bids for Buckley looking?
  6. We really need a RW, Hedges frustrates me more every time I watch him. There's times where he has 5 or 5 touches in quick succession and does well, then 30 seconds later, banjos a 5 yard pass. Tends to fall to pieces in front of goal and usually picks the wrong option. He's a workhorse, but if we do want to push on, he's one that needs to be replaced as a starter.
  7. Exactly the way Barnsley used to play under him. He used to sub his front 3 on the hour religiously as they were knackered after a hour.
  8. Sterner tests to come. We certainly look fitter and more energetic but we can't pretend to play like that for a full season with the squad we have - need more depth and quality otherwise we might have shot our bolt before September is out. Noticeably, more long ball and direct. Can see Kargbo and Gueye roughing-up a few defences this season. Impressed with everything Toth has done - indisputably our number 1 now. Tyjon a bonus. Of the new boys - McLoughlin bang average, Alebiosu and De Neve are 'athletes' but not footballers who will hold down a place in our starting 11 and wont improve the team.
  9. Keeping him fit is going to be both crucial and a challenge. He terrorised Elche at least as much as Gueye did and was that a penalty Kargbo won and wasn't given in the 88th minute?
  10. i can see what val wants from his team, intensity the whole 90 minutesm,it`s going to be hard playing that way game after game,he`ll need a far bigger squad than he has now
  11. See Valconites's post on the previous page 👍
  12. Subs made the difference,Kargbo's pace and Big Macs presence..been a decent Spanish Holiday.
  13. Kargbo's hamstrings will take a battering next season.
  14. Be like the old days of Garner, Bailey and Hird, with teams constantly on the back foot.. Nowt wrong with that! And yes, Kargbo does seem quite zippy. I hope he is able to get into goal scoring positions very frequently, come the new campaign.
  15. Going off this pre season so far it looks like we have a good blend of players in majority of the positions. The replacement offers something different to the other. De Neve offers more protection and kargbo can damage teams with his direct play. Another CM to compete with the Trav and Tronstad is needed. Then someone similar to kargbo on the right. Top it off with a utility forward and another CB and I think we will do alright
  16. But again, I don't think anyone has suggested that he is good enough for La Liga. I am not sure why whether he is or isn't would justify the main debate that is being had. The point that was being repeatedly debated was whether he had made the right decision to leave Rovers. People felt like it wasn't because he wasn't immediately signed up by a team, hence the talk about a dodgy agent leading him astray, the comparisons to Nyambe, total wild speculation about his ego. But his decision not to sign whatever paltry offer we put in front of him has been proven to be justifed, whatever happens from here on in. He has a chance now to play top level football, he may fail, I think he probably will like Armstrong/Brereton etc, but it wouldn't mean that he shouldn't have tried. He is a decent Championship winger, he has proven that. That is as far as anyone has said, no one has said he has the quality of a top level player. But he does leave a hole and he was by far (not much to go against, admittedly) our best winger. He is a loss. Comparisons to Hedges (7 goals and 5 or 6 assist v 1 goal and 2 assists), talk about being in League 1 soon, questioning whether he even should have been offered a contract, talk about him stumbling into league 1, comparisons to youtubers, suggestions that Markanday was better, and its not just one poster, but its all totally hyperbolic nonsense, in my opinion anyway.
  17. Nice to see the "Venkys Out" flag on Elche TV
  18. We look like we are hungry for the ball all the time, which is the hallmark of a hard working and likely to get results side. Hard to tell from the stream and the quality of the opposition what that might mean in terms of performance in the Championship, but at least if we have a side that keeps going for 90 minutes and works hard on and off the ball, no-one will be complaining about a lack of Labore. Just need someone to add some Arte and we might have a decent season. Loving the VENKYS OUT banner.
  19. Ref was awful- lots of fouls not given against us there.. Gueye changed the game- lovely yellow card straight after coming on. The guys an absolute beast- love him! Kragbo using his heavenly pace to shred teams with a solid base behind- could be an interesting season with a few shrewd addtions to the squad...
  20. kargbo would be a massive asset patrolling the halfway line looking to run onto through balls,he would absolutely terrorise centre backs because he aint doing much tracking back defensively😄
  21. Be interesting to know how many times we won the ball back from the press. They played through it at first but as the game went on players just seemed to click and were spot on
  22. Bit silly this. He's playing in the top division in Spain and earning way way more than he was on? So he's got nothing to prove, he's the winner in the situation whether it works or it doesn't 😂
  23. Now now, get off that fence and tell us what you REALLY think…
  24. I’ve been impressed by him whilst he’s not been particularly great. He’s also not looked particularly out of place and there should be a bags of improvement between 17yo to 20yo. Under 21s or loan would be a good move.
  25. Hedges was pretty awful in that. RW needs to be one of the priority positions to bring in during the remainder of the window.
