Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
StHelensRover replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I still think he's shite. We're 18th in the league, we've won one home game and got knocked out the cup by a lower league team. If I was appointed instead of him last year I think I could have made a better fist of getting us into the playoffs than he did. Anyone being smarmy about him because we won a local derby can jog on for me. I never wanted him appointed and my jaw will go through the floor if he ever musters anything measurable as 'success', which would be qualifying for the playoffs, he won't. Edit - I don't want to see anyone using transfer policy as an excuse for him. When he interviewed for the job, that was his chance to interview the club about it's plans to progress. If he didn't ask, didn't listen, or simply waved through their shambolic, tinpot, unambitious plans then he doesn't get the excuse of "doing well with a poor squad". -

Given the hand he’s been dealt I think he’s doing a good job. There’s no lack of effort from the players. That hasn’t always been the case over the past few years. -

That shows a good attitude. -
I saw that happen in a FA cup tie - Rochdale v Oldham back in the early 1970’s. Rochdale went 2-0 late on up so the Oldham fans invaded the running track area trying to get the match abandoned. There was two mounted coppers on a little Kop area just to one side. They galloped the horses down the Kop, leapt over the barrier wall like it was the Grand National and galloped the full length of the pitch, turned around a galloped back ! People were diving head first back over the wall to get out of the way. How nobody wasn’t killed or seriously injured I’ll never know.

George was at Chorley this afternoon watching his old club. 😂 -
Nico Reilly and Lewis Hall both playing tonight. I guess these will be our 2 left backs. Good news Livramento is back, surely he will be James's back up in squad

Rovers's January transfer needs
chaddyrovers replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We added quality but not used it like Ayari who is now a PL regular with Brighton or last January when we signed Ribeiro or Sanderson. you aren't going to do a mini overhaul in the January like you want. Why not give players like Henriksson and Tavares a full season and review next summer, granted not every signing will be successful but give them a proper chance. Yes I would move Gueye on cos he isn't suited to how we play and Kargbo can be 1 off the 4 strikers for me. Look to bring in another striker but how many quality strikers are out there cos most Championship are looking for them. Will it be look at league 1 striker who can step up or look overseas for one. on the centre back problem. Carter's injury problems are a massive problem for Ismael and the club, cos he can't stay fit sadly. Good player on his day. So we deffo need on centre back in this window and next summer, Connor O'Riordan can step up and replace Carter in the squad. the 7 came from, you would need to replace Henriksson and Taveras plus your 5 -

After 15 matches last season we only had a 7 point cushion. -
So if we don't have a dramatic fall off in form in the next three months, we could be on for a good season.

I don't think he does have a choice. He's a head coach, as are most "managers" now. At best they have a voice in the committee. -
