Preston away, QPR home; the highs and lows of football. It’s a funny old game, except it isn’t when you have to sit through putrid games like last night. QPR were everything we weren’t : well coached, skilful players, playing to a plan: it was obvious they were going to win from the 1st ten minutes. They should have been 2 up at half time. Chair was a delight to watch. Most glaring of all was the sheer lack of ability in that Rovers team. They looked like a bunch of squad players making up the numbers- which is most cases they are. Apart from the young left back, who should have a good career in the lower divisions but isn’t championship quality, not one player had a good game. Made a special effort to get to Ewood last night after a 300 mile round trip of the country. I won’t do that again in a hurry. Awful. And the worst of it, there were some boos but most fans shrugged their shoulders and left. Apathy reigns at a depressing and depressed Ewood

Poor showing tonight. BigMac still can't win a free kick, two of em one has his shirt one has his arm and he gets called. What 8 first teamers out? To be expected somewhat.

This January will be just like the rest of them Loads of links to decent players spread out there by Nixon and a load of bullshit Twitter accounts with a few ITK crumbs thrown out there as well. It goes on for weeks without any real action then we'll finally sign some nobody who is gash. Possibility that we'll offload one of our best players at the last minute as well.

I've also seen us fold countless times under the weight of expectation of playing in front of a bigger than normal home crowd over the years. I dont think it should make any difference either way. They shouldn't bottle it in front of a big crowd and they shouldnt be demotivated by playing in front of smaller crowds. At the very least if it does happen, hold your hands up after a poor performance and don't use it as an excuse! We obviously dont agree on this and that's fine. No point going back and forward all night.

They're paid to do a job which is made harder 50% of the time. Yes, I expect better of them, but they're also fallible. If you can accept that playing at a packed Hillsborough or Elland Road is a boost, why is the opposite not true?

If you accept the above then Im not really sure what point you're trying to make in the first place. They're paid to do a job. It's irrelevant whether there's 10 people, 1000, 10,000 or 30,000 in the stadium. Or the underlying reason behind it. We all know it's the owners and management's fault but that's a different argument altogether.

If this is aimed at me I'm afraid you've simply not read what I've posted. I've repeatedly said that the responsibility lies with the owners. It's their fault that long term fans no longer go, their fault that those that do go feel apathetic and jaded. It's quite simply true that attendance is awful and the stadium is quiet. You just can't argue with that. My heart goes out to those that go, it's week after week of insult to them. Please, don't misinterpret this as me blaming the fans, but simply stating that this is the result of Venky's continued fuckery.

Ah yes, after all this, 15 years....... it was the fans that were the problem. Who'd have thought! Any business that can't get enough customers only needs to look one way and that's inwards. There have been about 10,000 Rovers fans pushed beyond the brink by the owners and their employees past and.... present. As owners it's simple get involved if you're sticking around... write an open letter of intent to the fans, it would take about 10 minutes, publish it even if you don't care all that much - explain you have a target, want to attend the matches and invest some personal wealth into the stadium and training facilities. Then sack all of the staff that haven't had the balls to tell you to do this.

The point in making mate is that it actively has a negative effect, not just no effect. I should also point out that I don't think that's acceptable, and that the team should have more backbone. I agree with you in that the squad is better suited to playing counter attacking football but I do think playing at home is currently a disadvantage.

We are worse at home, but that's because the limited talents we do have are better suited to counter attacking than unlocking teams at home. The crowds or atmosphere or lack thereof at Ewood should have no bearing on performances whatsoever. What if we went into lockdown tomorrow? Should we just give up and concede the remainder of our games?

You're conflating blame and outcome. Two things are true: 1. Crowds are criminally low because the ownership and upper management have systematically downgraded the club as a whole over a number of years to the point that people no longer associate with what they see, and either don't want to pay, or don't support as vociferously as they once did. 2. Consequently the atmosphere at Ewood is a shadow of what it once was. Results paint it very clearly. The players prefer playing away. None of these are the fault of the fans that have either stopped going or still suffer through this shit, but both are true.

Sorry fella but it's clear as day. It's not as if we're no better at home, we're actively worse when playing at Ewood. The points return is horrendous. Yes, it's because the team has been consistently downgraded, we have a talentless manager and sub par squad, but it's an unavoidable reality that the lack of atmosphere at home (which is wholly the responsibility of our owners) is undoubtedly detrimental to the performance of the team.

There’s a few posts on here that seem to be hinting at the crowd (or lack of) being to blame for our awful home form - a disgraceful insinuation. Lets be honest, a hell of a lot of those who went to PNE did so for an evening out with the football a sideshow - certainly shouldn’t be using that as a benchmark for home support. Quite frankly it’s an absolute miracle we get the attendances we do given we’ve had to put up with 15 years of hell. The powers that be at Ewood hold us all in utter contempt, and shame on any Rovers fan who is buying into this narrative they are none too subtly trying to spin. They don’t give a shit about increasing the attendance or atmosphere, they only care about increasing revenue but are too incompetent to try anything other than milking the few of us that are left. I can take the bad results and performances (I had very low expectations this season), but I’m being pushed to the absolute limit by the owners, Suhail, Gestede, Ismael and Sufi. We are a husk of a club because of those people. The detachment the fanbase are feeling is totally unsurprising, and while terrible results don’t help the problems run much deeper.

We've had managers in the past that have said we need to perform well to get the fans through the door or give the ones that are there something to shout about. Not this one. There's quite a big excuse culture that's crept in with the current setup. There was too much focus on the 5,000 fans at Deepdale and the contrast to Ewood with not enough concentration from management on the need to turn the terrible home form around. It was never going to be the same atmosphere but highlighting it so much pre game does offer.... yes another........ excuse if we lose. Tee'd up nicely. I'm not bought in. Pointing towards Tronstad being out when half the current regimes signings play his position, are fit and available, and sparingly used isn't good enough. We're a team feeling sorry for ourselves at home with that being reinforced by the manager. It's about finding solutions and he isn't finding them. Tavares, Baradji, Henriksson, De Neve, Forshaw largely ineffective. Pickering and Ribiero frozen out. Nearly all of the above not being utilised is due to bad squad planning, not 4 or 5 players being injured. Someone at the club needs sacking that's for sure. I doubt anyone will be. and they won't get this seasons missing fans back at home until better expectations of the board, the players and the manager are in place. The rest won't return until the owners are gone. Someone needs to step up off the field at Ewood and sort it all out. I'd also like to hear from the owners, simply to know if they still own the club and are alive.

Just another reality check if truth be told. Games like PNE and one or two others are a bit like one off cup ties. They remind us there is still a football club worth salvaging but then tonight reminds us all how weak this squad and set up is and how much the club really is on its arse. Friday was the exception, tonight is the rule.
