2025 Summer Transfer Thread. π
KentExile replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Apparently each deal is worth "up to Β£3M" Jones Kante Which by my maths, is more than Β£0 Also If Hackney is sold, Boro will sign another midfielder, with options in mind who theyβd hope can come in and make more of an instant impact to replace a regular starter. I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up with Brittain & either Travis or Tronstad -

They also have bought 2 players in the last few days. And had the delay of a managerial change. -

I imagine that comment will age like milk by the time the window is closed, As they have demonstrated in recent seasons, they spend upwards of 70% of the money that they bring in, and they are just about to bring in another Β£20M + -

Middlesbrough have sold players worth over 50 million pounds over the last 2 seasons. They haven't spend ANY money on transfers so far. Let that sink in too! -

The cynic in me says, Venkys are making sure that relegation will happen this season. Eustace and Szmodics have kept their plans on hold for 2 seasons. -

I would disagree personally. Puerta was ok there last season so is just making that deal permanent, if and when he can be registered. Brandon Williams I wouldnt touch. -

Without factoring in outgoings, I think many would rather take the players they've signed over the players we have. If someone said to me we could swap just Gustavo Puerta and Brandon Williams as permanent signings, for all 4 of ours - i'd probably take it π€·ββοΈ -

Absolutely. But in this window, I definitely wouldnt say that Hull have had a significantly better window. Lots of teams have improved on paper more than us. Wouldnt include Hull. - Today

They also have had a lot of departures from their first team squad But that being said, if Rovers were under an embargo, as we have seen before, we would end up with Sacha Petshit and Bengali Fode Koita, rather than a Brandon Williams, who may have a questionable character, but is a potentially ambitious signing who could make them a good profit if they get him back to previous levels -

To be fair, I am really not sure they have. Ajayi and Famewo have injury historys, they are having trouble registering the top 2 (Puerta was there last season), Phillips is a sub keeper, Ndala is an untested kid and Williams hasnt signed but has a questionable character and hasnt played for a while. -

Very interesting, thank you. There appears to be no end to the number of people who want to own clubs but (seemingly) shouldnβt. -
Archer was never going to play, but Stokes will be a miss. Bumrah out for India also, so that even things up a bit.

Haven't you heard? We've improved on last year and all of our existing players are now demonstrably better than they were 2 months ago. -

Absolutely, with no replacements for Weimann or Dolan either. -
Low crowds due to years of going nowhere due to poor ownership and management coupled with high prices is not a boycott.
-
I don't know what a real one would look like then, probably much like this.
-
Stokes and Archer are like vintage cars - push them too hard and they break down Atkinson and Overton have themselves had injury problems this summer while Wood is a walking hospital case These players don't play anything the amount of "red ball" (first class county) matches like those of the past and perhaps that's the problem - they're not match hardened

It does feel like there is a lack of urgency around transfers. And that the big chunk of our business has been done, just wanting a couple more but nothing close. The players we have signed do in the main feel like plugging gaps in the squad rather than improving the team. -

It's a squad game, teams need more than one striker. He'll likely be rotated with Pedro, with Nkunku and Jackson leaving. -
Im 43 and agree with the only change being Batty for Dunn. Don't think Tugay and Dunn ever worked as a pair. Pretty mad that only four or five premier league winners get in. Shows how much the league improved 1995 to 2006 when we are picking players who finished sixth at best over first. Partly also how ridiculously good Shearer was in driving the team to win the league.

Both Stokes and Archer ruled out of 5th Test. Bloody hell, India are going to draw the series aren't they?
-
They've realised they made a huge blunder buying the Club and were robbed blind by advisors, they are no longer interested in the club but won't face the reality of their stupidity and sell. So we carry on with them hoping to break even by selling our best players and gambling on covering the losses cheaply. That's the only explanation I can come up with. What could go wrong?
