2025 Summer Transfer Thread. π
chaddyrovers replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
My question was a simple one. Yet again you can't answer it. Wonder why?. Yes Rovers have cut certain things like staff in roles where IT can do it easier or closing the club shop on Monday or axing the Women's team I understand money and finances fine thanks RF99. No need to be so condescending again! Do you have any evidence or info that they arent aligned? First signing in, fits the profile he wants. Etc. -

At a normal club this would be quote plausible. It just doesn't happen here though, as history shows. There is absolutely no point in this club selling a player ever again. -

Ok, putting my head in the chopping blocks here: I think we can part with Travis if we get Β£3m or more for him. We'll then have to reinvest that money smartly on a new midfielder that can slot straight into Travs position. He had a great season last year but I don't think he's irreplacable and his stock has never been higher at 27. -

Travis made comments 6 months ago about not being offered anything but was quite relaxed about it, meaning iv'e got my agent exploring other options. The club purposely create these situations it's one of the oldest tricks in the book and a gentle nudge towards a potential incoming transfer fee. If no serious bid comes in they say ok here's the same or less terms to stay here but by this time the agent has convinced his player there'll be a deal to be had somewhere on a free with a signing on fee and maybe a loyalty bonuses owed from Rovers. So sit out your contract and here we are again. -

I suspect that Venkys pay more in wages than Jack Walker did if you totally discount inflation and assume that the value of money never changes. -

Seems like an attempt to make it look like we are being proactive. It says we still havent even offered Travis a deal. Seemingly Tronstad too. These had to be sorted before the summer where we have already got enough work to do without the huge variable of not knowing if key players will be here beyond the summer. But even know, it doesnt seem to have to have gone beyond merely talks with representatives. -

The wage bill staying the same is a 25% cut in real terms over the last 5 years, which means we cannot compete on wages. Women's team cut, maintenance budgets gutted, fan engagement funds cut, coaching staff budgets cut, transfer budget cut. Only budget that hasn't been cut is the directors wages for Waggot, Suhail etc al. That's increased exponentially to the 3rd highest in the league despite the 3rd worst revenue. -
Someone has been pointing him in the right direction.

You genuinely dont think that the owners have been on a mission to cut costs for a number of years? Also, I dont think you understand the concept of the time value of money. My stance is that I dont know if they are aligned. They will say they are publically either way , I am not saying that they arent. Im saying that its early days and unless something drastically changes then Ismael will get pissed off in time too like the previous managers. -

All a smokescreen so the club can then feed to the LET that they "tried" but the players demands were far too much for our poor billionaires to fund. Fully expecting Travis to leave this summer for a small fee, and Tronstad to leave next summer for nothing. Brittain I would put at 60/40 not to sign just based on history. -

The article suggests there's a semi-decent chance Brittain signs, and perhaps a small chance Tronstad will too? However, I personally wouldn't bet a single penny on that happening. The more likely scenario is that the muppets running the place will let it drag on and on, then (if anything) low-ball them, talks come to a hold... inevitably, they'll end up getting snapped up by a normal Club with a bit of ambition. Travis, I personally don't think there's even a slight chance that he stays. He'll be sold this window to the first bidder... gonna be gutted! The tough reality is that the Club don't really want to keep them, certainly not on higher wages for multiple years. They'd much sooner cash in on all 3, bring in cheaper alternatives (probably free agents/loans on miniscule wages), then pocket the c. Β£8m from their transfer fees... the Venky's will be delighted. -

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25234748.blackburn-rovers-hold-talks-resolve-star-players-futures/ Looks like we are finally waking up with regards to Travis and Tronstads contracts. The article however, certainly feels like its written to soften the blow of Travis departure. I suspect the club will try and cash in on him, whilst he still has some value to cover some the financial hole they have created. - Today

Travis/Tronstadt----crucial if we are to do anything next season. Not possible we could replace them like for like. Unfortunately I think they're also crucial to Venkys funding plans ( such as they are).

You can't say. They both said are aligned so unless you know something we don't let's stick to their public comments instead of looking for something not there like you are AGAIN? Cut what costs? What are cost that have been cut costs the wage bill is very similar each year? Do you know? Or just more speculation with you? You didn't think we would make any signing before pre season training and guess we did. Wrong here and you hold your hands up and say you were wrong? Nope. Some of us can when we are wrong -
Another piece about contracts in the LT. Lots of speculation about being willing to stay but crucially on Travis and seemingly Tronstad, they havent still yet received an actual contract offer. Being in talks, willing to stay, representatives doing this and that, its easy to move away from the fact that theyve either signed a new deal or not.

Don't worry in another couple of years of managed decline they'll suddenly find the will and ablement to put 2 million quid in for a league 1 promotion push. Except this time we won't have retained a championship squad and wage bill. -

I have been for years. I rarely tell people Iβve just met that I support Rovers. I only hang around because of my grandson. Heβs 18 and really keen. Heβll still be here when the Chicken Chokers are history so I donβt want him to lose hope like I have. Once fans go they very rarely come back. -

Given they have explicitly stated any incoming money is not going to be re-invested in the transfer budget, the only answer is as you suggest, to cover day-to-day operations because Venky's can't/won't send us any money. Cutting every budget and neglecting maintenance as well, yet somehow Suhail's salary increases... -
A Simply fictional Kit. I will qoute from my Grand Bazaar ( an official club publication) book dated 1895.. "It is to know that the pretty and becoming dress which has caused the Rovers appearance to be admired on every ground in Britain remains the same today as originally chosen, except that the Blue of the quatered jersey is of a lighter shade"

So, the plan is to continue to try to raise working capital to fund the day to day running of the club, by selling off practically anyone who can attract a transfer fee. Hmm.. can anyone else see the folly of such a plan, whereby the bottom of the barrel is all we are taking forward into the new campaign. All the media talk appears to be focused on the likelihood of Rovers losing practically every player who contributed anything meaningful during the last campaign, without any mention of how the club (or manager) intends to replace their contribution. Ladies and gentlemen, there is a technical term for this, in business parlance. It is called a 'Fire Sale', and not meaning to be facetious or adversarial in any way, the Oxford Dictionary definition of this is: a sale of goods remaining after the destruction of commercial premises by fire. a sale of goods or assets at a very low price, typically when the seller is facing bankruptcy. So, I'm just asking, why is Blackburn Rovers holding a fire sale, and what is the plan to rebuild from the resulting ashes? Travis, Brittain, Dolan, Hyam, Tronstadt... Oh deary me. What a mess..
