Yep, if you have no succession plan in a standard business, you're creating your own problems. If you have none as a football club administrator, you are - quite frankly - clueless.
-
And here I was thinking this was just basic tactics. Maybe I put my name down for the Rovers job. I'll have us in the automatics in January before I quit in February for a real club and then I can go on to revolutionise the game by managing numerous successful teams with the basic philosophy of being solid at the back and attacking with width and two up front.
-
It is obvious the 2 stooges have no real plan !
-
I know Val left under mutual consent, but I figured that was a pay off and leave ahead of a replacement being identified. It seems he genuinely left ala Eustace/JDT (broken promises - despite his general shit performance) and we're left in the lurch. How do you run a football club with the record ours has, and not have a plan b waiting in the wings
-
Not trolling at all, never looked into it to that extent, just seemed a good shout. Regarding the win percentages, it does depend which club in which division, you can't just take it as a blanket figure. I'm not advocating signing him up, I just didn't instantly disregard it as most did
-
I suspect people are just going off his links with Rovers when making these odds (he came through our youth team)
-
I can't tell if you're deliberately trolling there but go on Ill bite. I couldnt care less about the Kean link. Allardyce also worked with him and most people would have him back. I just think Coleman is a really poor Coach. Serial failure. In 3 of his last 6 jobs he's had win ratios around the 25% mark plus in a 4th one (Sunderland) 17 %
-
I’m surprised there’s not more talk around Lee Bowyer
-
Reading fans really don't rate Leam Richardson. Terrible manager.
-
To be honest I didn't realise about the Kean link, on the face of it, he looked a good shout, couldn't ask for more experience.
-
What would that be? 15% of 56 m - £8.4m? "We'll give you 10% - £840,000" "Robbie?" "You still there Robbie?"
-
It will also feel like that if Coleman is appointed tbf. Im pretty confident that link is a wind up/red herring but let's see.
-
It actually felt like that when Coyle was appointed.
-
One of the questions that any canny candidates could ask is, how much of the 80 million sell on fee for Wharton when he leaves in the Summer, will I be able to spend on players? At least it would show initiative 😉
-
It certainly feels that way most of the time. But then why bother sacking Ismael at all? If they really wanted to stick it to us they'd have just left him in charge and saved themselves some money.
-
Can't see them putting on the l8ghts just for that

Some of the speculation / names being mentioned must be a wind up or maybe not!? Someone suggested to me yesterday that Venky’s are punishing the fans for daring to speak against them - this can’t be bad judgement anymore.

Alan Pardew

Ive no idea why either. We occasionally get linked with lower League managers (Wellens/Richardson etc) but they dont seem to be the best we could go for

Taking a punt on robbie savage to me seems like a great shout from Suhail and Gestedes perspective - boss who will gett immediate buy in from the fans, would definitely take the job. But hes a bigger character than both of them and they wont want to have to deal with that. From my perspective when you are in a relegation fight promoting someone 3 divisions to become your manager to dig you out is a very confident thing to do....
-
Maybe it’s been said, but Leam Richardson has been linked. Never heard of him.

Why would I judge him by anything other than his spell in the same League that we're in? What he may or may not have done in the Lower Leagues in France is frankly completely irrelevant. Not sure what he's done in Ligue 1 but obviously it didnt translate over here. Edit: It would appear from Wiki that in Ligue 1 he took over a team that had finished 7th the previous season and left them in 8th a year later. Sounds solid rather than earth shattering.

He left Reims after getting only 2 wins in his last 14 games. Suggests it fell apart after an initial good start. He only managed 22 games, at 2 different clubs before that, so not really a good measure of how he would have panned out over the longer term. 37 games at Lens, looks to be successful stint, obviously left due his wife's health issues. Only managed 16 games with only 4 wins before being rightly binned off by Southampton. Gotta remember he's only 33 as well and has was never a professional footballer, not that you have to be, but it would certainly help. It's a no from me as well.
