  1. Past hour
  2. I see Gudjonssen has turned into prime Shearer due to his absence. Truth is we didn't really create anything clear cut in the box all night so not sure why there is this assumption we'd have won with him in the side. In fact, the best 2 chances in the game fell to the opposition, if I was a Wednesday fan I'd feel more aggrieved not to win than we do.
  3. Just posted on the Sheffield Wednesday thread but I actually think we desperately need in 5 new players. Pretty much all of them are needed urgently, and none of them are areas that I think we can avoid or do without. We clearly need 2 new strikers, 1 simply wont suffice. We play 2, its the position you are probably most likely to sub mid game, and you badly need options off the bench. None of our attempted square pegs in round holes have looked remotely effective and we seem to have no young strikers coming through. We need some pace within that as we sre so slow. We definitely need a new centre back. One to slot straight into the team, right footed. With O'Riordan coming back too. I think we need a wing back on both sides. We badly need our wing backs to play on the front foot and be good going forward. Hedges is the only one who can play left wing back and he is not very good going forward, I suggested Harry Amass. We also need a more similar alternative when Alebiosu is available. Goalkeeper obviously we are fine, in central midfield I am not convinced by the quality of all of the options and we could do with more of a goal threat but it may be able to keep until summer. There are a number of players that for various reasons are unneeded. Obviously we wont be able to shift them all. Gueye, De Neve, Henriksson, Kargbo and Tavares all simply not good enough. Pickering and Ribeiro are left backs that have fallen out of favour due to the system change. Carter is a busted flush although I accept that no one will take him. I have also mentioned that I could forsee a possibility for Litherland to benefit from a loan late in the window. I think hes done well, I like certain things that I see, but I dont think he is a wing back. He needs to bulk up similar to Scott Wharton who benefitted from a loan when he was growing to then be able to be reassessed in the summer but as a centre back. He is less robust than Pratt but looks better on the ball, longer term he could potentially play that right sided centre back position. Most of this wont happen but its what I think we need to end the window with a more well rounded squad capable of fighting off relegation.
  4. So useless you traded her in for a dingle 😁😁
  5. We could struggle, with our long list of injuries, but if we can manage to pick up points in the 2 home games, teams below us, have tough games coming up.
  6. The regime will have been salivating for 6 months at the prospect of packing Gueye off to the Gulf and getting a decent fee for him after the interest that emerged late in the summer. This is just the culmination of that. I agree he's poor, like most of the squad, but in the state we are in we can't be leaving him out of the squad for supposedly 'not running' enough in training. I doubt Ismael has much say in this matter, they've cuts to make and money to raise, what the 'head coach' wants won't be featuring in this.
  7. You don't score many goals with 5 defensive defenders and 3 midfields who all like to drop deep/stay deep. Let alone with our lack of quality upfront. Needed someone to put their head up and start moving the ball forward more - Cantwell, Baradji or a full back. Litherland is marauding but not a full back. Hedges is too defensive minded to attack. Should've stuck one of the youngsters to a full back position and let them carry it forward more
  8. I’m not entirely convinced that Chaddy and RF99 aren’t the two personalities of the same person😁😁
  9. As Ruggles said above, the distain for Cantwell at times was bonkers last night, what are these people expecting? He's the only bit of quality in that side, but he isn't Messi!
  10. I dont think we are just a striker/Gudjohnsen short based on last night. There is a lack of quality and pace going forward even beyond that. I didnt see last nights performance as one that just lacked a bit of a finishing touch against a dismal Wednesday side hurt even more than us by unavailability, it was totally flat. The way we play, we need some real attacking quality and energy coming from either wing backs/and or central midfield. We clearly need not just 1 but 2 new forwards to give us more quality, pace, goals and different options as its important to have options off the bench too. Ohashi isnt good enough to be a guaranteed starter either. But we cant just rely on our 2 forwards to provide all of the threat. I think we really miss Alebiousu as you would expect, he gives us our only bit of pace and he is so important to how we attack. None of our other wing backs provide anything like that level of threat. Hedges is definitely more suited to being a wing back compared to a winger but when theres no Alebiosu flying down the wing on the other side, theres more emphasis on Hedges to get forward and he simply doesnt give us that. I wonder if one potential solution could be Harry Amass who I thought was one of the only bits of quality on the pitch and I think his loan ends imminently. I cant see us strengthening left wing back but I think he would be a shrewd bit of business. We still need competition for Alebiosu on the right too. Litherland as he breaks in will be judged by slightly lower standards as any player that comes through for his first senior games, but he certainly has done himself proud and looks a real player for the future. He doesnt look like a right wing back though, I think he is at wing back rather than Miller because unlike Pratt he perhaps isnt quite physically ready to cope with Championship forwards. Technically he looks good (he played one fantastic pass in the first half that Henriksson again failed to do anything with) but I wonder if we could get a more similar alternative to Alebiosu in, and also with Litherland not yet trusted in a back 3 and with potentially 2 additional bodies in that position anyway, whether it would make sense to loan him out towards the end of the window. Half a season in League 1 or perhaps League 2 but as a centre back could similar to Wharton a few years ago help him to develop physically. Rather than keeping him around to cover Alebiosu when he simply doesnt offer the same attributes. Cantwell has always been a poor striker of the ball and has a tendency to drop deep. That being said, him and Tronstad really are key in allowing us to get any semblance of control over a game. Cantwell was understandably becoming clearly frustrated with a lack of movement around him last night.
  11. We had a horrible transfer window this summer and will need a brilliant one in January to correct all those mistakes made. That will not happen. Not under Gestede. Not under Pasha. Never under Venkys.
  12. Its sheer utter stupidity and infront of a Nationwide audience. Dont tell me this isn't being done to wind our Supporters up,as petty as it may appear to some I'm fuming.
  13. Great post and the last bit is message board gold.
  14. You have a go at RF99 for being unrealistic on a squad overhaul with 6 or 7 out and 6 or 7 in and then say you want 6 out and 4 in which firstly, is an overhaul, secondly weakens the squad depth and thirdly is more or less what RF99 was saying!! I'm convinced that if RF99's post had been made by anyone else you wouldn't have bothered responding.
  15. Surprised they haven't made up a sponsor. "Ye Olde Totally Wickede vape".
  16. For some reason, people think we are better than we are, especially away. The last away win seems like awhile ago now and given the defeat at Pompey and yesterdays draw, both feel like missed opportunities, let’s hope our hope our home form improves.
  17. The Hull game is irrelevant. The world I live in is on last night's evidence Wednesday are probably the weakest team I've seen in the Championship for years. The game was there for the taking in the first half hour when Wednesday never got out of their own half We need 2 new forwards
  18. ‘I just turned up and did the mural, no idea how it works behind the scenes’. Useless as ever.
  19. Not sure who the sky commentators were last night. But I think one is usually an ex pro and was spot on about Rovers front players. He commented on seeing Rovers a few times and on each occasion, how bereft of quality they are in the attacking third. He'd noted that our 2 strikers (regardless of combination) just run around a lot. They don't work off each other (in any kind of partnership) or offer much of a goal threat. That coupled with a lack of quality out wide (Alebiosu would be the exception) means we often have good possession but create very few clear chances. Desperately need 2 forwards. We have done since Szmodic left. We need a proper attacking LWB or left back. Not having Hedges - he's bench at best. We should be off loading DeNeve/Henrikson/Tavares back to Belgium or wherever as they clearly aren't able to impact games in a positive way at this standard. TGH is a Jason Lowe reincarnation. League one or two is his level. Birmingham know that. Morashita doesn't look robust or quick enough for the Championship. I'd also argue that Platt/Litherland look better prospects than Miller. Piss poor recruitment so far from team Gestede. Can't wait to see who comes through the door this window. Expecting Cantwell/Alebiosu to be sold to pay for the next lot. As an aside. Any chance we are being proactive and getting Alebiosu on a new long term contract?
  20. You mean next Season's home kit surely?...Sufi's 'home comforts'
  21. It's probably better if they don't unless you're trying to put them off. If you're explaining illness as a reason for continuing to go you can also make an argument for the exact opposite. Why waste part of your life on people who don't care (and that includes a significant number of fans on certain issues such as that trash in Monaco) and have a complete lack of empathy? The English sports media and a lot of people in English football are complicit too in ruining Jack's legacy. If you want to get over the bitterness (not that I have) it's better to keep English football to a minimum and look abroad. Has the last 20 years posting on forums like this improved my mental health? Absolutely not. Infact I've sometimes wondered if some kind of illness would be my snapping point. Maybe I just watch Breaking Bad too much but you never know. Nothing to lose when you're seriously ill especially if you're 100% justified in taking action while you're still able to do so. Blue and white. Not blue, white and red devil. What did I say about empathy again? Where's the empathy for Jack when Totally Wicked gets slapped on the kit? It's an insult to him.
  22. Hopefully, they are left with a batch of unsold anniversary shirts, as the fans decide not to buy any, due to the incorrect version being produced and the manner in which it has been marketed.
  23. But we didn't concede - That's a positive. They put 2 past Hull their previous game. I'm not sure what world people live in when we should be going to any away game and winning on a 'canter'. We are literally a few places above Wednesday, we are their level bar one or 2 players (which we will lose next season) Back line did well yesterday. We didn't create enough and that's the reason we didn't come away with 3 points - Toothless.
  24. we did cherry pick him from Rochdale 2 years ago
