  1. Past hour
  2. Two more Japanese fans near us holding their Ohashi shirts up yesterday, adding to the one against Wednesday. Nice to see Yuki obliged with a goal on both occasions.
  3. Claude Makelele arguably the best DM ever, not sure he was great at defending corners. Wharton shouldn’t be marking DCL, strange decision if it was pre-agreed
  4. City let him and Palmer slip through their fingers apparently.
  5. He’d have stopped the ball, got down on his knees, and headed the ball in.
  6. Rogers is a superb player. Glad he plays for England.
  7. Just imagine if it had been Gueye chasing after it. Hearts would’ve been in mouths 😁
  8. What's also great is that quite a few of the academy prospects are Rovers fans as well, so they hopefully have an even greater desire to do well. Off the top of my head Litherland, Dunn, Higgins and Lister are fans, I'm sure there are probably more. Nothing better than seeing one of your own playing for your club
  9. Don't like them either, but they are one of the biggest clubs in the world...
  10. Today
  11. He was taken off with an injury, he came off holding the back of his thigh, and we all know what that indicates.
  12. Agree with those sentiments Hospitals tend to be going cashless. Heartless if you ask me
  13. I just watched it again on YouTube. Brilliant free kick bent around the wall with the outside of his right foot right into the near top corner. It’s really hard to get power into the shot using that technique but Cubillas did. The goal he scored earlier in the game wasn’t too shabby either. A right foot thunderbolt from 20 odd yards out into the same top corner.
  14. He earned the right to tap that in because nothing is a lost cause as far as Yuki is concerned.
  15. Loved the way Ohashi knocked the second one in from 1 yard to qualify for his goalscorer's bonus. There's no dosh for an OG!!
  16. You lost me after your first two words.
  17. They might not be a top team, but as much as it pains me to say so, they are a top club.
  18. Good match, that. Thought Man United probably deserved something from that, but two class goals from Rogers the difference.
  19. Dingle mates always use the empty seat thing to give me stick. Not difficult to point out though, that they would have had about 14000 empty seats for their Premier league game against Fulham the other night, if The Dome was the same size as Ewood. It isn't really a good gauge, considering Ewood is 30-50% bigger than most grounds.
  20. Cubillas was World class for Peru that night. We had a Scottish welder that was giving it large before the comp started. We didn’t see him again for a month !
  21. Even if they don't quite get there this year, they've got a strong foundation to build on if they're smart over the next few years. Granted this season really does seem like the best chance to break the Old Firm monopoly, with both teams struggling far more than you'd expect.
  22. Always take a flask and a few cups and a few of us share it. To be fair, there's never been a problem taking it in. Daughter buys the grandkids chips now and again, but the chances of me buying on the concourse disappeared when it went card only. Not just aiming it at Rovers, it should be against the law.
  23. The £5m fee was certainly a bit of an albatross around Gallagher's neck. If we'd bought him for £500k you'd say he did quite alright for us over the years. £5m though, especially back then, was a lot of money and at this level should mean somebody able to come in and have an instant and sustained impact. But yeah, playing him out of position likely held his development back quite a bit. He was never going to be an effective wide man. He didn't have the skillset for that. He should have been coached in how to use his frame to good effect up top. He was never going to be a lethal scorer, but he had the potential to be a nightmare for defenders to deal with. Instead he just drifted into mediocrity before injuries done him in towards the end. Diaz would have been worth the £7m to Venky's if we'd sold him for profit (and it's down to pure incompetence that we didn't). From the team/fans pov I'm not sure he was ever really worth that. He did have two very strong half-season purple patches, but when he lost confidence he was hopeless. A £7m player in the championship simply can't be a confidence player, they have to be effective regardless. When he was lacking confidence he barely registered a goal or assist for multiple games. You'd also expect a £7m player to be able to pull a team up by the bootstraps and he didn't do that either. If the team played badly, so did he. Again, if we'd paid less for him you'd say he did alright for us in the end. £7m for two half season purple patches, though... not so much. With that said, some fans made a lot of money from his 20 goal half season, so I'm sure they consider him a success!
  24. hearts extremely well organised and incisive on the counter attack,i think this is definately their year, provided they can handle the continual run of attritional games with everyone going all out to stop them ,hibs up next which certainly won`t be easy
  25. Hearts apparently the first team to win four consecutive games against the Old Firm since the mid-80s. Fair play. One of the biggest obstacles for any underdog team to overcome is dealing with the pressure of facing a team with a big reputation. It's a psychological barrier rather than strictly talent or even form related. Definitely suggests they're the real deal this season.
