Obviously, you have someone on your short list that’s available? As I said, make the right choice. I don’t think we should go back to Mowbray, & I’m not full of confidence with the other names being floated. I’m not being a wise-guy- who do you have in mind? -
Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach

If it's consistent with the last 15 years it probably will be duff...and I don't mean Damien. When did he suddenly become volatile? - Today
-
Was the right decision though in the end! Fucking clueless manager.
-
Just think the balance of probability, based on the evidence we have both in terms of Ismaels flaky character and how things are said to have happened here in the past, suggests things have finally come to a head and something has given. At some point in the future Suhail or someone will say the order came from the owners or Val chose to leave. Truth = the middle somewhere.
-
That does seem feasible. Hope the new manager/Coach rates Jorgensen or that could end up a very costly mistake.
-
I'm not sure I care right now who we get. They'll be shit, and if they're not, they'll ditch us when the club fails them, leaving us back at square one. Sick of this fucking purgatory.
-
No you're right. I thought about that as soon as I'd posted. He was disillusioned with the Trust though.
-
We know it'll be a fool who'll be next, so we may as well hire a complete outsider for a laugh. Either they'll walk this time next year so I expect Frank Rijkaard or Edgar Davids even though they've not managed for a decade. Famous name and all that.
-
I think the easier 2+2=; We made no more signings today and signed a cheap punt on Sunday because it cost us £1+million to say bye Val.
-
I just find it impossible to believe Gestede sacked him he'd never have that authority no matter how much sway he might think he has. I could however see Ismael storming off he has form for it but if the axe has truly come it's because Balaji has got out of the right side of bed after having an early night for once.
-
This will be interesting. We are all hoping for a Carrick style bump. A loyal Rovers player and club man coming in as caretaker manager. Win handsomely and it will be down to players not able to express themselves. Draw or lose then it doesn’t matter who we bring in, we are rather screwed as we are incapable of rising to the occasion against a very tired youth team.
-
That wouldn't have happened. 2 weeks or so ago he insisted he wasn't at all worried and we'd be fine when we got everyone back from injury.

I've already covered it several times over even before he was potted but seeing as you only grace us with your special brand of arrogance occasionally i'll repeat it. Look no further than Gary Rowett. I also said Duff would be fine as a punt if we were ambling along safely going nowhere or it was summer. -
Agree with a heavy heart!
-
I said hopefully. I dont know. I only really commented on the people I have seen mentioned, I havent looked into who might be available. And with these owners and this board, I dont have hope.
-
@roversfan99 who are the credible alternatives
-
Probably went along the lines of 'I've been waiting to be sacked for weeks can't you see i can't do anything with this shite you've given me' We can't afford to pay you off. 'Ok i'll take half you useless streak of piss' Done ! That means we don't have to sign anybody now so fook off !
-
Tomasson would never come back here. I feel like as a manager, he isnt suited to a dogfight anyway, although in terms of the likely "alternatives" he is a much better proposition. He seemed to struggle at times last time with big personalities, at least that isnt a problem anymore. Hughes is only mentioned because he used to manage us 20 years ago. Would be a shocking appointment, last 2 jobs at Bradford and Carlisle where he is currently not excelling in non league. Gerrard isnt a good manager, that would be just based on name. People like Rowett, Wagner, Cifuentes and Bilic fall into the category of underwhelming but all probably have some merit to them. People like Chris Coleman, Karanka and Lee Bowyer fall into desperate options we can fear but would really sum the club up. Stay away. Hopefully there are more credible alternatives not initially mentioned. Whether we could get them is another question. And forget giving it to Johnson. The focus should be on getting the best manager as soon as possible, if he wins 1 or 2 in the meantime (tomorrow should be a certainty, Sheffield Wednesday are not competitive) then fantastic. This idea of appeasing the fan base too. The fan base is already fractured and toxic regardless of the manager. But we all give a manager a chance and ultimately you win (most) people over with good results, not big names, who you played for or whether youve been here before.

Wonder whether they are considering/are even aware of Jimmy Thelin who is out of work. Did amazing initially with Aberdeen including winning silverware and then it all seemed to fall apart.
-
Trying to drum up business for agents and bookies.
-
My ideal one right now is ange Postecoglu the on a similar record - I just think we both know this backroom / setup / ownership isn’t bringing in anyone with that sort of reputation

Predictable. Take as long as you need. -
Honestly wouldn't put it past them to look at Parkinsons job with Wrexham and think Challinor could make the step up to the championship in a similar fashion. He got Stockport to League One, finished 3rd last season (losing to Orient in the play offs), now got them 4th. The bulk of his career has been in non-league, which makes this a huge, huge risk but as an outside choice, you never know. Not an appointment I'd go for, it just carries far too much risk.

I think you'd be more suited to the Beano than the bible son.
