Powell is a better option than Batty at left wing back these days. -
How can Brighton Villa be such a boring game when it's 4-3 in injury time? Both teams playing as though they're winning 6-0. Premier League football is absolutely gash. If this is what was served up to me as a kid then there's no way I would have been so fanatical about it.

We need to have a really well thought out subs plan to keep the shape and pressing game all 90 mins. We need to spread out our resources to do that. My approach would be to start Pears Miller. McCloughlin. Pratt Alebiosu. Mori. Tronstad. Cantwell. Hedges Gudjohnson. Ohashi At 60 mins bring on Forshaw and TGH to top up energy in midfield. But how to keep the pressing up top and out wide I am pretty stumped on. At LWB maybe we could have a look at Jake Batty? Or accept we are going to play deeper and bring on Pickering/Riberio? Up front if we dont use Gueye the only other thing I can think of is putting Axel on and get him to batter people? Hes a big unit and very aggressive so maybe would work shoring up the press? Though must be evens to get himself sent off. We've got this 352 system that works well, but very light on players to sustain it, even when everyone is fit again.

Hmmm for me without Ohashis running and pressing we will really struggle. Baradji will do well to cover two thirds of the ground he does. I cant see the ball sticking at all with that lineup personally. Our system works because, imo, the way the front two (but really mostly Ohashi) press forcing us up the pitch. The setup you have there that Luton for example did so well with when they got promoted worked because the number 9 was a big physical unit (Carlton Morris) who could make the ball stick on his own. I cant see Gudjonsen doing that.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
Upside Down replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm not saying either of those things are false but the best way to avoid dropping two points by conceding a goal in injury time is to score more goals. Why don't we have the game under control? Nothing to do with the refs, however shit and biased they are. -

Being charitable, I think his point is one or both of - refs are crap - refs are biased against him/Rovers, or biased towards certain other teams (not my view, just a what he seems to be implying) -

Absolute must win, and I think it will be very tight. I think we'll do it, but wouldn't be surprised if we didn't. Rovers 1-0 Wednesday -

Demographic change is a big part, there’s no getting away from it. The Venky destruction of the club came at the worst possible time as the 2010s saw a big chunk of the fanbase move further away from the town. Now that isn’t an issue in itself, many clubs have seen their original patch change and fans spread further out, I’m thinking West Ham, West Brom, Bradford, Leicester etc, those clubs are still pulling in the crowds despite the fanbase generally being more disparate. However, here the owners have deliberately dismantled the club *and* the fanbase has moved, it becomes harder and harder for fans living 20, 30, 40 miles away to make the effort when the regime doesn’t. -

nope, left last month (after 9 months in his role, so nearly lasted twice as long as John Park in his last spell), no official announcement and no reason given, but stated on his LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/piotr-sadowski-4184a8a0/?originalSubdomain=uk Obviously it would be ridiculous to have the same scouting team in situ for two consecutive windows 😉 -

I just watched the game and I am quite literally flabbergasted. Not going to get into the ref just yet, it is just a given now that we will get fooked one way or another by the man in the middle. Yet again we drop 2 points in the dying seconds if a match. It is VI. He always pulls off the most industrious players and replaced then with lazy no good layabouts. I don't know if it was Tavares or Baradji that simply refused to run for a pass just a few yards away near the halfway line. Disgraceful. It is not the first time yet VI keeps doing it. We always go from playing at least decent if not well to barely hanging on, open spaces everywhere, players not closed down and then the sucker punch. That Tavares, well he would never pull the shirt on again if I was manager. We played really well. I used to have a soft spot for Ipswich but I hate em now. They cheat, faking injury always mouthing the ref, cynical challenges and just general shit mongers. What a waste of a good performance. Two game changing non decisions, it was a red and it was a pen on Ohashi. Again BigMac wrestled to the ground and the free kicks go the other way. VI really needs to learn how to close games out and it is not by bringing on your laziest players. Fumin here. GRRRRRR. Any of our Statto's have info on how many points we have dropped after 90 minutes. -

Yes, I agree - they didn't make much noise even when they equalised. I'm not sure they could quite believe the unlikeliness of it, and there was probably more of a sound from the collective Victor Meldrew outburst from the home faithful than there was any shout of joy from the tractor children, particularly as most would have had to accept that Rovers had done enough on the evening to be worthy of the victory. The whoosh of the hapless Christian Walton's limbs through the air as he flailed back towards the Blackburn End in high excitement was more noticeable than the huzzah from the (prior to that) humbled travelling tractor faithful. For all his faults, HairPears was noticeably less prone to putting his defence under unnecessary direct pressure than the Ipswich stopper, who didn't fill me with great confidence, despite appearing to have grown a foot or so since his stint in the Rovers' ranks. History now. Time to move on and learn. Dopey twats! -

I don't think anyone needs to have played at a top level to 'get it'. For me it's much like coaching. Some of the best coaches never played at anything near the top level. If you've spent a few years playing the local leagues or regional leagues then you'll have a good grasp on the ins and outs of the game from a playing perspective. -

He should make a list of all the ahit decisions that the owners and senior management have made and display that at his next post match interview. Unfortunately for him, his own appointment will be on there somewhere . -
150th Anniversary kit/celebrations
Upside Down replied to Proudtobeblue&white's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The town has been systematically deprived for over 40 years. The only thing keeping the town alive really was the football club. Since venkys came and destroyed it the whole town has gone completely down the toilet like many other similar towns across the North of England. The nightlife was absolutely banging until the government decided to heavily crack down on underage drinking meaning the 16-17 year old students from Blackburn college and St Marys that were the lifeblood of that scene now couldn't get in anywhere whereas previously the pubs and clubs would look the other way. Combined with the deliberate efforts to deprive the town economically, leaving the majority of people without any money for a night out, the town is completely dead. The only thing that put the town in any kind of spotlight and garnered any kind of outside attention was the football club. As I've said previously, if you have any pride in the town or the football club then you absolutely despise venkys and anyone or anything associated with them. The detrimental effect they've had on the town is immeasurable and they are a huge reason for the place being as shit as it is. - Yesterday

Surely data should identify if a player is worth looking at and eyes should decide whether we actually try to sign them. -

Were we? I don't remember hearing them once until they scored, and I remarked on how quiet they were for a reasonable sized following.
