  1. Past hour
  2. Continual down grading of playing staff for starters
  3. Many supporters of this Club are like Dogs chasing their tail. All about themselves, nothing else matters..cant/wont see the bigger picture. So damn disappointing.
  4. He's just manic energy when he comes onto the pitch. If "uncultured midfielder" was a descriptor then that would be him 😆 he's not anywhere close to the biggest of our problems on fairness, I just wish we'd been a lot smarter last summer.
  5. I disagree. We have to start somewhere and it at least brings the concerns over the owners and management firmly into the spotlight. Plus the take up might be better than anticipated, we won't know until we try. And if it isnt so what? It's only the first step in what is likely to be a very protracted process.
  6. I still hold out a feint hope for Henriksson Think if we hold on to him, he will be an excellent goalscoring midfielder in League 1 in a year or 2, and will kick on from there 😉
  7. Alarm bells with who? Still plenty of cut backs to be made yet.
  8. You're right, I was thinking of another post where I conflated Miller, Alebiosu & McLoughlin's fees, and indeed it is Euros rather than pounds. With that said, we still could have got a very good Championship CB for €3.5m - even if a chunk of that was add-ons and bonuses. I'd have taken that over three useless players.
  9. 3-0 to the smoggies, to end the year on a sobering note. No way for Rovers' run away from home to continue, against a proper footballing side, in a stadium filled with passionate and knowledgeable football fans (from the North West as well as North East), and the prospect of very different ends to the campaigns of either side, with 180 degree separation of trajectories... Rovers Riverside Rout? Smoggies 3 Rovers 0 Riverside Reverse Revelation? Boro 0 Rovers 3 Realistic Result Reflecting Resources? Smog Operators 2 Tommy Balls 0 However, COYB! & of course, odious VENKYS OUT!
  10. Based on the comments from Boro fans on twitter, that sounds like it may have been a one off. I think that as Alebiosu has been much better than any of us could have hoped or expected, some of us have forgotten just how good Brittain is Edit - I am not knocking Alebiosu, and he probably fits our current system at least as well, and possibly better than Brittain
  11. Been a couple more in The Times/Sunday Times too recently in a similar, ‘Christ, how good is this lad?’ vein. Still, least we got a similar fee to Tyler Morton and only ten million behind Jobe.
  12. I asked my mate who's been ill if he'd be boycotting the Watford game and he said No because he didnt think it would make any difference. I strongly disagree on that, there can't have been more than 7k on on Saturday as it was. The Club will be aware of the real numbers and alarm bells will surely be ringing already, not so much for this season maybe but certainly with a view to season ticket renewal time. If numbers reduce any further for the Watford game that will be pretty noticeable on the eye and if it carries over into a collapse in season ticket sales, that will very much force their attention imo.
  13. Yeah, agreed - his kicking has been suspect and I can recall a handful of occasions in recent games where he's kicked it directly out for an opposition thrown-in, under no pressure. Pears has done fine, but Toth will come back in as the number 1 when he's fit, as he's a far superior GK.
  14. I imagine Pasha's jaunt to India is just a case of him taking stock and perhaps agreeing a 'strategy' for January (which probably involves a further round of cost cuts and wage reductions with a portion of the proceeds being allowed back into the squad. Suggestions that he's been summoned in response to performance/unrest likely to be well wide of the mark - more likely it will be bonus time for a jolly job well done in bringing in more cash whilst capping the wages. There's no evidence going back over 15 years that these people have a shred of interest or will act over trivial matters like league position, results, collapsing attendances or fan unrest.
  15. Piece on the BBC site ahead of Palaces cup game with Arsenal this eve https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/clyx6q9y8wpo
  16. Played 19 (soon to be 21) Tests under Bazball against India and Australia, won 6. There was nothing results wise under this regime that pointed to any new dawn. The Root era ended in a poor way, scared, negative cricket. However, this lot have just over-corrected, they still don’t win against the big boys.
  17. Today
  18. Bristol City beat Boro 2-0 in their last game, not because Bristol were brilliant but because Boro were distinctly ordinary. Brittain in particular was nothing like the player he was for us.
  19. I don't think you can accuse Chaddy of not being loud enough.
  20. Even the much exaggerated figures are well below that amount Sidnei Tavares €2.00m Axel Henriksson €860k Dion De Neve €750k All of the above in Euros, not £s, and not a chance those amounts are anything other than hypothetical add ons for various "ifs" "buts" & "maybes" I would be genuinely amazed if the guaranteed payments on the 3 of those combined are any more than £1.5M
  21. His kicks upfield are poor. Whilst the goals he has conceded haven't been terrible, some have been saveable by a better keeper like Toth, who pulls off saves you wouldn't expect. Something Pears rarely does. Toth also has better positioning and handles crosses better. The goals conceded ratio has gone up since Toth's injury. I wouldn't necessarily play Toth immediately, as he has been out for a while and we don't want a recurrence, or for him to come back in a bit cold and lose confidence if something goes wrong. But I'd hate for us to sit him on the bench for a month or two until Pears makes a glaring error. It would cost us points to take that approach.
  22. I'd be really interested to know what the main decision is for those who go as to why they're not prepared to boycott, ones I can think of myself are: - the owners don't care and it won't work - not fair on the players - it's really important part of my routine or the routine of my dependents (e.g. children, elderly or vulnerable) which I cannot forgo, even for one game - I don't care about what happens off the pitch, I just 'back the boys' no matter what - No one tells me what to do That last one in bold is something I heard a few people saying at Ewood on Saturday, that included people who chant against the owners etc. I don't really understand that last one, just sounds like oppositional defiance. For each of those above reasons not to boycott, it's hard to get a message or interaction across that can interact with each point and put something convincing across without attracting hostile responses. I sympathise with the coalition on that point, it's very difficult
  23. I will agree. Millwall were flying high & we got all 3, but M’bro is even better. Solid club at the moment, & Rovers are still beat up. 1-1.
  24. I don't think even our best first eleven is a top six team, honestly. Comfortably mid-table, yes, but I wouldn't go any further than that. Too many inconsistent players - but when you pay minimal fee and wages, you can't expect any more than that. It's a lower quality league this season for sure. If we'd kept a couple of our experienced players, and spent the circa £4.3m wasted on Tavares, De Neve and Henriksson on one really solid Championship player, we would definitely have a team capable of the top six. Whether Ismael could deliver that as manager is doubtful, mind.
  25. Good record up there in recent seasons but I think this one will be a step too far. A draw would be a brilliant result. Suspect it'll be the same team except Hedges in for Pickering. Unless Toth is back (?), in which case him for Pears in goal.
